THE OFFICIAL SOXTALK 2009 MLB DRAFT THREAD
chisox2334 replied to southsider2k5's topic in FutureSox Board
i dont blast picks because you don't know whats going to happened. W sox were going for need and hope the accomplished. How about we don't blast people we have no clue how their going perform later on. You can blast all you want major league roster because their are expectations with alot of guys you seen for awhile. Hope he pans out. -
First, that Aaron Poreda is not here to develop, he's here to produce out of the bullpen. And if he doesn't? "I talked to him and made it real clear, 'If you don't pitch well, you're going to have O'Hare Airport next to you pretty soon,' '' Guillen explained. "I said, 'Did you arrive at Midway or O'Hare?' He said, 'O'Hare.' I said, ''Well, on the way back, Midway is closer.' Because this is to win. I think he can help us, I think our scouting report and our minor-league people said we can count on him to win. It's another good arm in the bullpen. This kid can be used as a long man, against anybody, lefty or righty, and he gives me another good arm in the pen. "This isn't instructional league. I make it really clear to him, this isn't development. You're going to be treated the same way as everyone else. If you don't do the job, we have Southwest airlines waiting for you to go to Charlotte. That's the only one with nonstop, I already checked.'' by the way if you read who article by cowley ozzie had no decision on bringing up bechkham and was all kenny and minor leagues

Josh Fields questions future with White Sox
chisox2334 replied to chisox2334's topic in Pale Hose Talk
As far as Josh Fields wanting some more answers from the organization about his future? "Oh, you better be careful for what you say and what you wish,'' Guillen said. "It's not my fault that we brought [Gordon] Beckham here. If [general manager] Kenny [Williams] brought Beckham here, it's because Josh Fields was not doing his job. Am I wrong? If you were playing good, I don't think we should have to do that, but I don't think he was playing the way we think he can play. Right now, we're going to give the kid [beckham] the shot, but I don't call people up, I don't do anything with the minor leagues. He was not doing what he was supposed to do and that's why they called Beckham up. Kenny didn't tell me anything about that.'' theres ur answers josh from ozzie in cowleys peice -
one, joe cowley doesn't become person the declares it fire sale and nor do I think it is either. Second. If they trade Paulie, jenks, danks, floyd etc. I will call that fire sale. But, telling dye, thome, or dotel to go doesn't constitute a fire sale to me.
-
like i said i dont see the need quote word here "fire sale" everyone predicting thome, dye, dotel would be gone anyways after this season or during the season.
-
once again what constitues a fire sale with this team?
-
with the way sox hit, it really isnt a fire sale. Dotel, Thome, and Dye are likely canidates.
-
still love how we give colon and garcia a chance but not jim edmonds

Josh Fields questions future with White Sox
chisox2334 replied to chisox2334's topic in Pale Hose Talk
article probably doesn't. but, only reason i put it here because someone asked about it when I said fields is pisst about his demotion -
Even after a sit-down meeting with manager Ozzie Guillen, third baseman Josh Fields still wants answers from the White Sox organization — not only answers about his future, but also about what he felt was bad timing by the club in calling up highly touted prospect Gordon Beckham to play at his position. Fields called the situation ‘‘awkward.’’ » Click to enlarge image White Sox third baseman Josh Field still wants answers from the organization about his future. (Chris Sweda/Sun-Times) RELATED STORIES Guillen sounds off after Tigers beat White Sox, 5-4 ‘‘As a player you go through a thing where you kind of have people that have confidence in you — your front office and your manager having confidence in you — and I really don’t know this situation,’’ said Fields, who entered Monday hitting .242 with three home runs and 21 RBI. ‘‘It’s been weird. Ozzie sat me down the other day and tried to go through it a little bit, but it’s kind of hard to swallow. If I was still at .212 like I was for a while, it would be easier, but pulling my average up and the team getting into second place, it just kind of came surprising, I guess. “I asked [Guillen] a couple of questions, but I have more questions for [general manager] Kenny [Williams] and I haven’t been able to actually sit down and talk to him. I know the draft is coming up and stuff, but we’ll get to sit down here before long and we’ll get to ask all of the questions that I need to.’’ Asked if he was frustrated about the timing of the Beckham call-up, Fields responded, “I think so.’’ ‘‘Obviously, they have their reasons,’’ Fields said. ‘‘I’m just an employee, so I don’t make decisions. But you can always look at things and say ‘Why this, why that?’ We’re struggling now and I think everyone knows that, that’s the truth. As a team and individually, we were really struggling, but to then come back to within [3œ] games ... I mean, I would kind of consider this a big change, not just a small tweak. To be doing pretty well as a team at that time and then to make a big change, it’s still kind of a question that I’ll have to ask.’’ Fields isn’t even sure he will like the answer, but at least he’ll have one that eases his mind. All he is hoping for is that something gives. Whether that means him being traded or some other piece of the team being moved, that remained unclear for Fields, 26, who was in the starting lineup for the first game of Monday’s doubleheader vs. Detroit. ‘‘Right now it’s kind of sit and see how it plays out,’’ Fields said. ‘‘I’ve been getting in there and playing some third, I played the DH the other day, so it’s not like I’ve sat a whole bunch of games, Ozzie is still playing me. But it’s kind of an awkward situation for everyone. Not only myself, but teammates as well. You don’t want that to happen. ‘‘I think something will happen pretty soon, whether it’s something like them getting rid of me or something like that for someone else that can possibly help the team. You never know. I don’t think it will stay awkward for too much longer. They’ve won too long and know how to win, and they’ll figure something out.’’
