QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Mar 10, 2008 -> 01:08 PM) About the rules: A couple years ago, there was some anger over someone constantly dropping/adding ("streaming") pitchers. The rule about the total number of transactions was changed to only allow 100 for the season. While that prevents someone from streaming the entire season, someone could potentially stream towards the end of the season, if he's saved his transactions until then. Basically, I just want to avoid any hard feelings about this and state my position upfront. I'm not going to change the rules midseason if someone starts doing this. If we want to rule out streaming completely, we need to make the changes now, before the draft. There are a couple ways to do this. The most extreme would be to change to weekly transactions. That would mean that transactions are only allowed at the end of the week -- after that, your choices for the week are set, so streaming would not be possible. It would also level the field as far as injury pickups. Right now, if a closer goes down, the first person to see the news can grab the setup guy immediately. Those who get the news 20 minutes later are out of luck. With weekly transactions, it will just depend on who has the higher waiver priority. Another way would be to limit the number of weekly transactions. Pickups would still be first-come, first-served, but noone would be allowed to switch more than a handful of players each week. Although, I'm not sure what the 'right' limit would be. As a minor thing, I was also thinking about changing the time on waivers to one day (from two). That seems enough, but it's not a big deal either way. I haven't changed any of the rules yet, and unless there's strong support for a particular change, I'll leave things as they are. Let me know your thoughts, thanks. Lol I believe I complained about that last year. Ya know the streaming pitchers thing. 100 move maximum is good idea. May I also suggest NO can't cut list? Seriously, how unfortunate would it be if a top player like David Wright or Pujols gets injured for the season, it would kinda suck to have to keep them on the roster, I certainly would like to drop that player if thats the case, that or just make it 2 DL spots. THoughts?

I'm guess I dont understand why Michigan is 9 compared to Illini. They have the same conference record and head to head they are tie dup 1-1. Off the top of my head Illini has the better overall record so that just makes no sense to me why Michigan has the 9 seed. Not that it matters or anything just curious how the tiebreaker was determined.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Mar 9, 2008 -> 03:04 PM) Season's wasting away at the worst possible time. f***. If I'm looking at this right, barring Purdue winning against Michigan, we should be matched up against the Minnesota/NW winner instead of the Iowa/Illinois winner. I guess the three seed does get the more favorable matchup in that regard. Assuming Purdue wins.....it would lay out like this: #1 Wisconsin vs #8 Iowa/ #9 Illinois - Believe Illini win the tiebreaker with Michigan. #4 Michigan St vs #5 Ohio St #3 Indiana vs #6 Minnesota/ #11 Northwestern #2 Purdue vs #7 Penn St/ #10 Michigan Fairly certain this is what the match ups would be. -
Better not be getting Kuo, just read his wiki page he gets injured tons, 2 tommy john surgeries and he was awful in his mlb stint with Dodgers. I'll pass.

QUOTE(knightni @ Mar 8, 2008 -> 09:21 PM) Rumor that I heard recently... Hansborough getting drafted by the Bulls. Oh god no. Absolutely hate Hansborough, not to mention hes a bit undersized to be on our team we need a big man. -
Why not a Sunday? For some of us this could be a viable reason to miss church Better yet have it later on a Sunday so that I can pray to win this league, not that I need to or anything. Seriously, what else is there to do on Sundays?

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Mar 5, 2008 -> 10:19 PM) What's up, fellas. As far as a draft date is concerned, how about March 25th? It's on a Tuesday. Anywhere from 7 to 9 PM works for me. I'm down. I'm also down for any time so doesn't matter what its changed to.

Im in, 4th place finish is not an option for me again this year Oh and Zoom, that list in your first post is 13 people so someone I guess is SOL.

QUOTE(knightni @ Mar 1, 2008 -> 07:16 PM) Well I'm the Halladay owner and as much as it pained me to do it, I declined the trade. Oh, I thought you were the Manny owner. Could've fooled me lol Yeah I would have declined too but I'm a bit down on both.
-
QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 28, 2008 -> 08:48 PM) trade: Manny Ramirez for Roy Halladay Pitching is thin in the league but the team getting Manny has minimal power. Tough two players I'm avoiding in 2008 lol. Both are just overvalued for their draft positions. If your pitching is thin I'd go for it but Halladay is starting to fall off the map fantasy wise just as Manny is.

QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 28, 2008 -> 03:22 PM) Why's everyone down on Garland? I can see 14 wins era of 4.35 120ks - not awful. Exactly, it really isn't too unreasonable to expect 15 wins, an era in the 3s and 100 ks at the least. Never know what a change of location can do for a player and Angels park is more spacious, I believe a pitchers park too but thats just a guess. QUOTE(JoeCoolMan24 @ Feb 28, 2008 -> 07:20 PM) I would do ANY of those deals really. Reject em all! Kinda contradicted yourself no?
-
QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Feb 28, 2008 -> 03:29 PM) Adam Russell in to pitch. You think he has any chance at making the team this year? Who doesn't have a chance at making this team's pitching staff

QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Feb 28, 2008 -> 03:32 PM) This guy has never hit below .300 correct?? Correct.

Wow Ramirez is having one heck of a game, looks like Contreras had a solid outing too nice.

QUOTE(Reddy @ Feb 28, 2008 -> 12:30 PM) Berkman/Billingsley in a heartbeat. Garland will give you nothing. I know Garland will give me nothing just took him with last pick as a joke. The thing I didn't mention was the guy I'd be trading Ichiro to has Pierre, Bourn, Lugo and well Jerry Owens on his bench lol, so would kinda suck to hand the steals category over to him. I'm gonna wait a bit though on that trade becasue Berkman strained his oblique. The Byrnes one was a no brainer to reject, I can't trust his last season especially since it was a contract year, just didn't see him repeating those stats but if I knew I was getting a healthy Gagne sure would be a plus to my staff. So yeah, kinda leaves me with the Kemp one and Berkman, win win either way, love to find out if Kemp is starting, all I've heard is Ethier and Pierre might be platooning, hopefully Torre has some sense to play Kemp, hes got 30/30 potential written all over him.
-
I would also prefer Tex, I do expect Hafner to bounce back but Tex is a safe bet to repeat his numbers again, add to the fact hes a 2nd rd pick as opposed to Hafner whos going what in the 4-5th rds. Once heck of a deal trading for a higher tier player if you ask me. As for Pena, I guess I would be scared of getting him since he had one good year, I'd almost rather keep Hafner if thats the case. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=63143

Couple trades proposed to me recently I'm having tough time deciding on mostly due to it being keeper league. League Info: 12 Team, Roto, 5x5, 6 Keepers Trades: Ichiro/Sherill for Byrnes/Gagne or Ichiro/Garland for Berkman/Billinglsey or Ichiro/Wainwright for Kemp/Kazmir My Team: C Russell Martin 1B James Loney 2B BJ Upton 3B Miguel Cabrera SS Orlando Cabrera OF Ichiro Suzuki OF Nick Markakis OF Corey Hart Util Jeff Franceour BN Ryan Garko BN Yunel Escobar SP Aaron Harang SP Fransisco Liriano RP Trevor Hoffman RP Kevin Gregg P AJ Burnett P Chien Ming Wang P George Sherill BN Adam Wainwright BN Jeremy Guthrie BN Jon Garland (joke pick ) My team already has some great balance offensively, the extra homers would be nice. My team is alright in pitching, another closer would be nice since its roto but my SPs get thin towards end. The fact I got Ichiro in the 4th rd somehow haha gives me some excellent trade value for him, tough deciding on which trade I like since all sort of help me. Thoughts on which trade you'd accept? Heck you could rank them.

I'm really shocked this issue has never been brought up with the Tigers, at least not that I know of. HEALTH Their team is loaded with guys who are accustomed to the DL throughout their career. Maggs Sheffield Pudge Rogers Zumaya Theres others who have had more minor injuries but those are some important names listed. Of course with Miggy there missing Sheff or Maggs isn't a total loss but both were important parts to their offense last year. I guess I just don't think they are that great, hell they were one of the teams last year and in past we have faired well against. Their rotation sure doesn't scare me. Yes, their offense is full of studs but are lineup is stacked too maybe a bit unappreciated.

Kalapse who is in that picture to the right or Orlando Cabrera. Is that Alexei?

Glad my packers franchised Corey Williams. Bubba needed to go as tight end so using it on Corey was the right choice gives a number of options but I would love to keep him he made some big plays and I like the depth at DT. If only Harrell could develop -
Ooo tough call now that I see your team. Got some pros and cons: Cons: Right now you have pretty good balance hitting, I feel if you trade Wright you would hurt in the stolen base department. Really all you got as BIG sb guys are Soriano and Wright. I know Towles and Gordon nab some bases but its kind of a crapshoot to predict. Plus I'm high on Braun too but as a 2nd rd pick its hard to say if he puts up another big year even if the numbers suggest he could've gave A Rod a run for his money. Pros: Getting Braun gives you some flexibility since he can play OF/3B and Gordon who plays 1B/3B so you would have a fill in in for outfield which would help because Vlad and Soriano are injury prone. You'd get Jenks and you badly need saves. Just a thought, your deep at first base, I'd almost suggest dealing Konerko for a closer straight up and starting Loney in the 1B spot and Garko at Util. Your team has good power so wouldn't hurt all that much and Loney and Garko have good upside. I'd say pull the trigger.

QUOTE(Reddy @ Feb 22, 2008 -> 03:19 PM) What do you guys think of this: Wright for Braun and Jenks I have Wright, and could use the saves.... Whats your team look like, then I'd really be able to help ya? For me its hard to give up a 30/30 player in Wright for someone in Braun who exploded onto the scene and is a potential sophomore slump candidate. It is rather tempting because Jenks is a solid throw in. Ill give you a name nobody drafted at closer in your league: George Sherill (BAL) Might not even be that bad to drop one of your backups for this guy who should notch idk at least 20 saves or more. You can thank me later

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Feb 21, 2008 -> 05:33 PM) Wait, wait, wait... Are you saying I can't gloat in the league thread? Like how I gloated about winning league 2 last year and how I'll gloat when I pummel everyone again this year? No, no, no, no, no, no, no. I mean, I'm willing to gloat in both threads. But don't take that away, knightni. Well, you sir are in for a battle. Hey how bout you show up to the draft this time Though the cpu may end up drafting better regardless

We got what could be 4 nice contributors for us. I'd love to hold onto Gooden for the future, good rebounder and a post guy who at least has a low game. Hes gotta bring back the soul patch though lol. Brown has played well in limited time for Cavs and is a Chicago product so good upside if he plays. Simmons, don't know much about him but hes only 21-22 so that gives him lots of time to improve if he sticks around. Hughes, we have plenty of guards wouldn't be surprised if he or someone else is traded but I think the deadline passed already.
