Cubs just fell apart, Reds starting hitting Big Z, and that ball dropped between Soriano and Theriot in OF, kept going downhill, it was fun to watch lol. When Carlos gets frustrated hes terrible. And now Cubs are stuck facing some tough arms in the Reds pen.

If you were GM of an expansion franchise and could have

QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 09:09 AM) three players in all of MLB and the rest of your team would be AA/AAA players, who would you pick? Felix Hernandez Justin Verlander Albert Pujols Ryan Howard Alex Rodriguez Derek Jeter Dice-K Johan Santana Carlos Zambrano Jose Reyes Scott Kazmir Roy Halladay Roy Oswalt Big Papi Justin Morneau David Ortiz Joe Mauer Manny Ramirez Travis Hafner Vladimir Guerrero Grady Sizemore Ichiro Miguel Tejada Vernon Wells Carlos Beltran Miguel Cabrera David Wright Michael Young Alphonso Soriano I would take Felix Hernandez, Albert Pujols and then it would be between A-Rod, Jose Reyes and Joe Mauer, and I'm not sure which way I would choose to go. Then again, it might be wiser to pick three pitchers, so you could go Hernandez, Verlander and Santana and hope the offense would score enough runs to support the three aces of the pitching staff. 3 Would Be: Felix Hernandez Grady Sizemore Miguel Cabrera -

I think its safe to say UNC is #1 in next seasons preseason poll. -
Danks vs Byrd could be interesting. Just wondering if this series is played, Im assuming our bad weather might hit Cleveland, anyone know the weather updates in Cleveland? I wouldnt mind playing in miller park though.

Didnt read through all the posts so if I mentioned some guys named then forgive me. Andy Petitte, he always gives that blank stare on the mound and looks evil. Throwin this one out there, how bout Dice K, his mystery pitch has batters dazed and confused as to when it might come or if its even real. Mark Mcgwire back in the day was. Big Hurt was. Arod Nolan Ryan Just a few, many more.

Official 2006-2007 NBA Discussion Thread

QUOTE(AssHatSoxFan @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 09:34 AM) at least they didnt start a fight with us like they did against denver earlier in the season that victory was twice as nice clinching home court in round 1 and maintaing our seed it also helped push NY down in the standings making our pick swapping chances better True, all the teams below knicks yesterday also managed to win, well the majority which helped. I saw no problem with the game being a blow out, they were trying to get to 100 for the fans for that whole free sandwich somethin like that. Backups wanted to get some points too. -

QUOTE(Chet Lemon @ Apr 9, 2007 -> 10:55 PM) Anyone privy to when this guy comes off the DL? I have been holding him b/c I am in a super large yahoo league (18 managers), so if I dropped him there would be a chance he would get scooped up. Kenny Lofton is currently my main source of SBs, so is it worth my wait to hold onto him in hopes he performs well later in the year? Thanks for any input. Hermidas Status Judging from this he could come back late this week. But if they say he needs rehab and stuff in minors Id say hes ready beginning of March. If your lucky earlier. Im assuming your dl spots are taken up if not throw him on there. Otherwise you could take the risk of droppin him and pickin up another OF but more than likely with 18 managers someone is going to nab him before he gets back, you would be best off holding on to him.
-
Weve faced him before but I believe he was a reliever at the time.

I love their outfield, its young and talented. Upton and Iwamura both should hit above average too. Only holes I see on offense are at catcher, first and shortstop. Dioner like you said should eventually come around but hes not living up to expectations. Tampas pitching is just horrendus, besides Kazmir all they really have is Edwin Jackson who also was supposed to be a good pitcher with Dodgers. Give them some time, dont know much about their minors but they seemed to have produced some nice players in the past couple years, wouldnt put it against them to have some pitching talent down there.

I laugh at everyone who thought Ponson would be good, yes his spring was alright but the guy is still overweight and will never come close to his past success. He gets shelled way too many times. Mccarthy did well today, good to see he got a win, hope he pitches well for Rangers.
-
Todays game will be a close one. Hitting wise Oakland is nothing special and if Contreras pitches better than before I think we might see a scoreless game for a while. Harden should dominate us no question, could be wrong maybe our offense will be a surprise today.

Javy looked good, bullpen held it down and we got the runs we needed to win not much more you could ask for.

Wow what a turn of events, thats the Scotty I missed last year.

Theres the insurance we needed.

QUOTE(SnB @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 08:42 PM) Toronto changed their hats? AGAIN? But Why? I like their current hats. I guess that means they change the lettering on their unis and get rid of that Jay in the front. Or like noted above its an alternate hat which is prolly right since it was used during spring.

Ball took a good bounce for Luis, and now another pitching change, here comes matty.

Wow what a gift Minny just gave us.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 7, 2007 -> 03:04 PM) Up top. I know he did TV before he came to Fox, but Mark Grace is a billion times better than Lou in the booth. Agreed, Grace sounds funny though, like hes sick, maybe its just me.

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 09:56 PM) Jacobs for Fielder? Might want to start proposing some trades to this guy. The thing about Shealy is that I need power badly. But Gonzalez, even if he's not a 40-hr guy, is almost a lock for 20+. What's Shealy likely to do this year, in Kauffman? Can't be much more. I'm not convinced on Wheeler. I don't think Lidge gets more than one shot this year, if Wheeler can hold it down after the switch. I'm really a believer on Sowers. You have to sacrifice strikeouts, but I think he'll win enough games with rate stats good enough to carry him. Thanks for the input. Any other opinions welcome. Edit: Crap, didn't get him. Figures. By all means if you like Shealy go for it. Its too early to tell if any player does good or not, so after a rough start he could pick things up. I have Sowers in a league or two, just cause I dont have many optinos pitching wise and he seems like the 2nd best pitcher on their team, dont necessarily like him but he should bag lots of wins on indians.

QUOTE(vandy125 @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 12:24 PM) So, in my league someone just dropped Prince Fielder who I consider to be a very good 1B. Does anyone know why someone would do that? I have Konerko and Giambi on my team, but am still thinking of picking him up as trade bait. Am I crazy? I have the #1 waiver priority. So, I could get him easily. Fielder is a good player, theres many players off to bad starts power wise so far this season. Fielder is healthy and I would pick him up if I were you, just drop someone on your team you dont need, and hell try trading him. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 05:49 PM) Some people are weird. Who'd he pick up? Who else does this guy have at 1b? I was in a similar situation last year -- I ended up with Pujols, Berkman, and Derrek Lee. When Lee returned (briefly) I tried trading one of the three. I was willing to gamble on Lee's health. Lucky for me, noone would give me anything close to value. I've never seen anyone do very well in trading an 'extra' player. Maybe people just know you don't want to burn the roster spot and they have you over the barrel. Related question -- someone dropped Hideki Matsui. I'm probably too far down the waiver wire to get him, but just in case, pick one to drop: Stephen Drew (backup to Tejada), Ryan Shealy (backup to Adrian Gonzalez), Scott Olsen, Chuck James, Jeremy Sowers, Dan Wheeler, Javier Vazquez. I'm leaning towards dropping Shealy. Shealy is a good bet to drop, could also argue Sowers or Wheeler though. Astros are too committed to Lidge and Wheeler wont take his spot I think which is why many people took him. Sowers is alright, wild pitcher, but if your pitchings weak keep him. Shealy should be gone hes not on an offensive powerhouse team and is not gonna light up the scoreboard, hes useless really.
