When you win it, some of your drive goes. You just don't want it as bad. I'm not saying that they're not giving 100% percent, but everyone who has played sports ever knows that there is 100%, and there is definitely a level higher. The Sox weren't able to get to that level higher this year. While I would never think about just going and giving this team a standing Ovation, I do not think that you could say they quit. It takes a truly SPECIAL team to repeat and the Sox just weren't able to do it.

Worst game ever. Really no other words I can come up with. Total red hot garbage.

I caught my 1st one last year, oddly enough at Wrigley. They were playing the Pirates. We were sitting about 6 rows back of the Pirates dugout. Craig Wilson caught a pop-up and it was the third out. As he was jogging back to the dugout, right before he went in, he threw it up. I reached over the row in front of me and caught it. I kept it too. The lady in front of me was saying I should give it to a kid, but I was like "hey, this is my first foul ball ever and I was a little kid once too." She understood well enough.

I was wondering if anyone was very familiar with his situation contract-wise. I believe we only signed him for 2 years, so... he will be a free-agent. Has there been any talk from his agent or anything like that about what he plans to do? I think Iguchi is a very under-rated part of what the Sox do. He does everything well. I don't think we have another player who can do anywhere near the job he does batting second. He has become my favorite player on the Sox (now that ARow's gone), and I don't even want to think about him leaving.

Where is the hit and run? If you are struggling to get rallies going and you aren't able to steal bases, putting a guy in motion is a great way to hedge your bets. Yet we don't do this very much. It would be wise with a guy like Cintron who can handle the bat well I don't disagree with you but this is Ozzie's style. I remember thinking this many times last year too and look what happened. When things are good, this style looks great and"keeps pressure on the other team." WHen it doesn't work, they look like schmucks.

I was about to start a similar thread to this if there wasn't one. There's no denying that the Sox are playing like spiff, and I get as pissed of as anybody when they lose. But... looking at the big picture a little can help your sanity. We know that the Sox are in a big slump, but we also know that they will break out of it. I agree that staying generally positive is the way to go, especially if you're at the games. I think people (the players) can feel the positive energy. Just like people can feel the negativity (A-Rod). In a sick way I just enjoy this more (a pennant race) than the Sox just cruising into the playoffs. And to answer someone's question "Where did the small ball go?" It went when we traded ARow for Jim Thome.

Basically, if our starting pitching isn't going to show up down the stretch and hopefully post-season, it's all for naught anyways.

As long as it's Scotty and not BA that goes, along with BMac, I don't have a huge problem with it. Like someone else said, the price for pitching seems high. I don't think I'm as high on BMac as many on here are. Although, losing Soriano and BMac in 3 months would be DEVASTATING!

Ozzie was my favorite player growing up. But his getting in trouble and putting the Sox in the spotlight for the wrong reason is really getting tiresome. Honestly, I wouldn't really have aproblem with the situation if it was an isolated incident. The thing is everybody, or a lot of normal, non-homophobic people use the word he did all the time. It doesn't make it right, but it definitely happens. My problem is that he has to have the control to not always say what is on his mind. I just feel like if things don't slow down a bit, he's not gonna b bemanaging us for more than a few more years.

I was wondering if I'm just weird or are there others who are kind of experiencing what I am... I am far less interested in baseball this year. I think there are a few reasons for this. One, I think I'm kind of waiting til the NBA Finals are over before moving over to baseball. But the larger reason is I just still feel so damn content. Last year, I was White Sox baseball starting in like December, when I joined Soxtalk. I went to SOxfest for the first time, and I was really into it. But I remember the trading deadline last year and the empty feeling I had because I had decided that the Sox couldn't go all the way. Then the Sox actually do it and blow through the postseason, and something I really wasn't sure would ever happen in my life (I'm now 25) happened. Now I feel so content that I just don't have the same fire under my ass that I used to. Maybe I just have a hard time being a fan of a frontrunner? I was wondering, does anyone else kind of feel the same way, maybe not to the same degree, but a little?

Cleveland scares me more of the two. I kind of liken the Tigers to a much better KC froma few years ago. They are coming back down to earth. I still see Cleveland making a big run like last year before it's over.

I fear that in order for us to get ARow back he'd really have to fall off, or it's gonna be a while (maybe 6 years or so). I wish we played the Phils this year and he would come back home. Some dreams just don't wanna go away.
