White Sox v. A's Spring Training game

Shingo's pretty much throwing all fastballs and a couple curveballs per Ozzie's orders. Only 1 or 2 frisbees. And that's the ballgame. -

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 04:18 PM) I've lost a lot of faith in Marte. He used to be automatic. When he came in, you would know it would be a short inning. Now, he takes a few lumps before getting those three outs. I'm hoping Hermanson and Vizcaino can come in and shut things down like Marte did two years ago. It's spring training. I wouldn't worry about Marte until he starts really getting pounded when the game starts. In that inning, again, it looked like he was just focusing on hitting that spot on the inside to righties. -

K. 3 outs. 9-7. Marte looked alright when he mixed in breaking balls to the last two outs. But most everything else was fastball in, fastball in, fastball in, making me think that he's still using ST to work on hitting that spot and not worrying much about the results. -

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 04:06 PM) I don't recall many games against Oakland which were blowout wins, or where our pitching simply dominated. Whether our bullpen surrenders the lead, offense is shutdown, or some fluke occurence (Magg losing flyball in fog two seasons ago) there's always been a reoccuring theme of futility. I take personal pleasure in watching Oakland lose, and Billy Bean supporters covering his ass. Nothing would satisfy me more than Oakland losing 90+ games this year. However, I'll probably hear" this is a rebuilding effort" in response. Yah, but all I know is everytime we've played them since 2001 it seems like we're getting beat by them. Occasionally you might see a 2 outta 3 at home, but man it seems like they just beat us everytime. I think I'd rather play the Yanks or Bosox. -

Iguchi 3-4 with 2 ribbies. I think we are going to like him a whole lot. -

I know one thing. Oakland will always crush us no matter who is pitching or who is hitting. ST, regular season, it doesn't matter. They own us. -
ST has shown me absolutely nothing. Almost all of the players in our ST don't give a rats ass what their numbers or results look like. Only Willie, Borchard, Iguchi, Ozuna and a few others woul probably even care. It doesn't matter what the starting staffs numbers look like. They don't care. Same goes with the bullpen.

Today must be let's impress the coaches with our awesome pitching so we can get a roster spot day

Adkins impressive in his bid for a roster spot

QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Mar 24, 2005 -> 08:19 AM) So far I am scared about this guy. I hope this pans out. How come? It's Spring Training. Radke has an ERA close to 6. I doubt the Twins are scared about that guy. ST results mean absolutely nothing for veterans.

QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Mar 23, 2005 -> 04:39 PM) Just wondering...how did Iguchi do today? 1-2 with a 2-run double. He only pinch hit, but hit twice in an inning.
-
Iguchi has really been a suprise. I thought it would take him a long time to adjust, even though he is still doing it, but he has really impressed me with his work so far this spring. At first he said he would go to right field all the time to work on his timing like he did in ST in Japan. Now you can see him jerking the ball to left and punching it to center and right. I am really excited about what he can do for us. He's hitting .300 in his first camp in his first extended stay in America.
