  1. I understand that stats are not the end all be all of baseball but are they not an indicator of what is going on? To supposedly have a lot of speed in your lineup with Podsednik, Iguchi, Rowand, and Uribe, and still being ranked last in doubles and triples in the MLB shows something is going on. Doesn't it? I'm not saying that all of those guys are swinging for the fences but I do think that the rest of the lineup is. Also, demeaning someone about their baseball knowledge when you are having a simple discussion doesn't strengthen your argument.
  2. I guess I don't understand the game because I used stats to back up my statement, huh? The stats strengthen my statement. They don't really back up yours. If they were really trying to drive the ball like you say, they would have more doubles and triples. Oh well, just keep winning.
  3. I never said the offense sucked. I just said that I wished that they would go back to manufacturing runs like they were earlier in the season instead of depending on the longball. The stats do show that our lineup doesn't hit for a very high average and doesn't get on base much. They still score runs though.
  4. Lots of strikeouts, lots of homers, and ranked last in the MLB in doubles and triples. I think that's pretty valid and curious data.
  5. You're a badass to make that bold prediction. I salute you.
  6. I'm not saying that we will be facing the Flubs in the playoffs but they sure didn't do it against the Cubs' top pitchers this past weekend.
  7. Do you guys just want to bank on being clutch in the playoffs against ace-quality pitchers? I think Kenny will make a deal for another stick.
  8. No one is whining. I think some people just recognize that our offense isn't hitting as well as they should be and think it is a valid concern... Sortable Team Stats: .260 team AVG (ranked 24th in MLB) .323 team OBP (ranked 26th in MLB) *waits for the obligatory, "look at our record!" response*
  9. And many people also just assume it is always great pitching instead of a bad approach by our lineup. It goes both ways, dude.
  10. Well, Crede took his usual cut at a ball in the dirt. It's pretty crazy how he can actually hit those pitches.
  11. They are hitting a lot of homers and striking out a lot. Wouldn't that indicate that they are in fact swinging for the fences?
  12. What is wrong with what I said? If these guys makes the playoffs and continue to swing for the fences every AB against stud playoff pitchers, they will get owned.
  13. And they didn't score a run for 9 straight innings in Wednesday's game and they got no hit through 4 innings in yesterday's game. I guess I would like to see them manufacture some more runs rather than just relying on the longball.
  14. Getting no hit by average pitchers for inning after inning is pretty frustrating. If it happens tonight, it won't be that bad because Harden is a stud.
  15. We lost the A's series earlier in the season. No matter how hot we are, we always suck at Oakland and tonight is possibly the worst pitching matchup we could have. Contreras against a team that takes walks. Ouch. I hope Contreras nuts up and throws strikes but I wouldn't bet the farm on it. Contreras' career stats against Oakland don't get my hopes up.
  16. He will have a better season than both Contreras and El Duque.
  17. Heh, do you ever have a feeling that the Sox will lose?
  18. I think we will win 1 for sure with Garland and Buehrle pitching but will we win the series? That is anyone's guess.
  19. Carl earned his contract for what he did to the Twins earlier in the season. He absolutely crushed them.

  21. Heavily favored is right. I would be very impressed with a win tonight with Contreras facing Harden at Oakland. If we win tonight, we will win the series with Garland and Buehrle finishing up the weekend.
  22. You would have taken anything for Everett in the beginning of the season even though we knew that Frank would miss a month or two and we needed a DH?
