  1. Giolito actually brings back cheap talent.
  2. if they've already told Soto, it's likely they had a contingency for this.
  3. he should look around the league at what other GMs have built to have constant pipelines of talent to trade and look down at his 30th ranked farm masterpiece. If you had told me in 2019, or this board, that we'd have a 170 m budget, I'd have guessed a brilliant roster. He built the worst possible roster with that 170M. He decided to use his funds and buy a bunch of middle relievers and closers. He couldn't be a worse GM.
  4. He said that reinsdorf can hit a breaking point and brought up the Gar Forman/John Paxson duo of the bulls, but Paxson by all accounts resigned and pushed Reinsdorf to understand the team needed big overhaul and he couldn't do it anymore.
  5. I'm going to guess boras is pushing washington to agree to eat hosmer money and try to get him traded to a competitive team. But that team doesn't exist. WAIT HES LEFT HANDED AND SUCKS AT DEFENSE I THINK I KNOW A TEAM
  6. The sox won't re-sign Giolito, he has 1.5 years left. Rentals don't get you much, so this deadline or the offseason would be wise to send him off. His arb will make him expensive, and we need to pay for our bullpen. He's at a lower point, but has good pedigree, and has shown he can regain things quickly. What real team would go after him? Cards? Brewers? Atlanta? I don't think we could get Walker, but perhaps Masyn Wynn for when we need to trade Anderson.
  7. Paxson resigned.
  8. why are you guys talking like there haven't been plenty of deals? Literally every target that has been mentioned for the sox has moved. One of the best 5 players in baseball has been moved.
  9. it's no worries. But interestingly the padres org ranking fell into the backhalf of the league. But they still were very top heavy, and had a very good draft last year in Jackson Merrill and James Wood ( they get free draft picks because owners like JR would rather have a less competitive team than share revenue). But they fill up their tanks pretty quickly. Still have Merrill too.
  10. I would absolutely trade Giolito to cards. There is no point not to this year.
  11. trying to circle the shittiest player hahn is going to acquire. I think he will go after JD Martinez and puff his chests and our chuck will go "we just got JD fricken martinez!" (no offense). But he is still looking for his masterpiece. There has to be a nomar mazara type hahn still has in him.
  12. of course they are. Those are two top 15 prospects in baseball, another top 50, a former top ten.
  13. If that increased the value they got back, that's a great idea from Nats. The shame/conundrum for the Nats, is they had ushered in some of the greatest players in the game, who all chose the agent that they had a very good working relationship with, but was also the one guy who would never let a player sign early. Acuna is locked up. Franco is locked up. Tatis is locked up. Trout was locked up. The nats couldn't lock up harper or soto. It really sucks for them.
  14. I don't know, I think Cards/Dodgers just had much less urgency to do it.
  15. I'm almost certain hahn will trade for like will myers just to show off how much money he can get Reinsdorf to waste as long as it's not going to one player, theoretically, and setting a standard for labor negotiations.
  16. I don't really think gore is that interesting. He's a former top prospect who has consistently struggled. He's pretty much the equivelant of Glasnow. The get is 3 top 100 prospects, but now that Bell is in there too, I'd say this just proves how attainable top talent is when you aren't a fucking joke.
  17. If I were the Cardinals I would be a bit disappointed. I like Jordan Walker way, way, way more than CJ Abrams. But yeah, to have a seat at the table you can't be a fucking lemonade stand doling out jobs to your rich friends kids.
  18. he's back in like a week.
  19. This team finished what 2015 started for me.
  20. Yeah we get a fuckin bougie ass bullpen, and non competitiveness. Pretty awesome.
  21. probably going to the dodgers then. Gotta tell you, as miserable as last night made me, realizing I went through 3 years of shit baseball after a decade of shit baseball, where I thought we were cleaning the house to bring up a bunch of young players to finally be able to get a big fish...and to see multiple top 5 players in the game become available...and to once again not have the budget. the players. the resolve. It is such a gut punch. This organization is the least relevant organization in the history of baseball. It used to be the padres. It used to be the astros. You can say rockies, and sure. But Rick Hahn has done no better than the rockies during his tenure. I really don't care what shitty moves this team makes. I only want (metaphorical) harakiri of all involved. I can't imagine getting one of the best jobs in the world and being so shitty at it for a decade.
  22. i wish we had the guardians ownership.
  23. I do think Preller has been underwhelming, I mean they didn't make the playoffs last year, his mlb scouting seems pretty shit. And the hosmer deal is maybe the most indefensible mlb deal we've ever seen. but unlike hahn he at least gives himself room for error. Hahns only room for error really was (potential) additional budget, and he wasted it on the bullpen, after spending so much time in the rebuild going after college reliever prospects.
  24. It's definitely real. There will be a trade today and I will show you guys that I called it by posting that.
  25. his strength though, that destroys hahn, is he knows he can regenerate these prospects at will. Yes, he gets another top 50 player for free (which brings him James Wood), but he can lose trades because he doesn't drop to 30th in the farm system with 3 full affiliates so devoid of pitching talent that they routinely pull fans down from the stands to finish innings.
