QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 12:53 AM) BUMP. The Dodgers are 4 games back now. Hate to say I was right but ya know............... DBAHO, I think we could take 9 people from soxtalk and win the nl west. Screw a bullpen as well, no need.

tomko
QUOTE(forrestg @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 12:52 AM) San francisco giants Tomko could be available.. In the past he's been great in the 2nd half of the season he's 15 and 5 in the second half of the last two seasons with a 3.80 era. there's some trade rumors between the Phillies and Angels making inquiries. If Tomko came here, AJ would kill him.

Make a GOOD deal, Kenny, or don't make one at all
QUOTE(mrzo2733 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 12:23 AM) I couldn't disagree with you more. It depends on what your idea of a good and bad trade are at this point. For me a good trade is ONLY getting big players who can help us, regardless of what we give up. I am absolutely willing to overpay to get guys like Guardado, Wagner, Vizquel, Overbay. A bad trade for me would be to only get a guy like Scott Eyre at the deadline, even if we got him for Timo. I will be so upset if we do nothing. So much so that the idea of Burnett is getting better and better ( I don't really like him too much) as time goes by and I get more afraid that we are not gonna do anything of substance. The only way Kenny can upset me is to not make a splash. At some point we have to not worry about making a "bad" trade and just suck it up and get what we need to make it to the promised land. My sights are set squarely on a deep playoff run and anything short of the World Series will be failure in my mind. We've been waiting 46 years to get back, let's not blow it because we didn't want to give too many damn prospects. See, this is a bad idea. You don't just make a deal to make a deal. You make a deal if it makes sense and if it helps you're team.

Shingo????
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 11:53 PM) Total agreement on this one. Ozzie played it right, and to blame Ozzie's decisions for Shingo's failure is asinine. Rememebr how that one blown Koch save in Oakland affected the team? Why have the same type of thing happen this year? Hell, if Shingo would have blown two more save, we might be 10 games worse off in the standings. How about that Koch blown save on the 4th two years ago. Talk about taking the air out of a team after sweeping your rival. UGH, I hate piling on Koch since he manned up to his inability but those games hurt, a lot.

the overbay deal should be in the works
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 11:34 PM) Hello Mr. Overbay my name is Greg Walker, I need to talk to you about your high BA and low power. I have worked with lots of hitters on the whitesox and have a fool proof method of giving you more power for just a slight drop in BA. 2006 Overbay hits 30 homers and has a 212 BA LOL Hilarious

Jayson Stark
QUOTE(palesox38 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 10:20 PM) I'm sure by now all of you have heard that the Sox are interested in Aubrey Huff, but according to Jayson Stark, that deal would also include Danys Baez. He also stated that the sox want to make that trade as well as trade for Burnett. I say do it. Many may say that it effects chemistry too much, but I think thats a little over-rated. It would be great to pick up Huff, Burnett, and Baez. Two potential blockbusters. What a statement that would be! As much as I like all 3 players, that's not going to happen. Huff's the one I'd want most out of those 3.

7/26 Games
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 10:02 PM) That's the Felix that I loved of last year -- 9 K's, 0 BB's. I still hold out hope that he can become a decent bullpen filler/fifth starter. But, before I my hope gets back to that, he's gotta get those ridiculous K/BB numbers back. Nice job by Anderson -- 1-for-3, but 3 BB's. Schnurstein with a nice game, too. Dbaho, Jason -- I think I got a foot on the bandwagon... Dan and I are going to kick that bandwagon over Nothing against Micah I'm just not as high on him as others.

Tonight was a good thing............
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 10:06 PM) My response is based on an observation I made durin the 2000 season that has not been addressed as of yet. I wasn't directing my comment towards you. Like I said I completely agree with the concept of getting Overbay and I'd love for the sox to acquire him, all I'm saying is he's not going to all the sudden change his views of the offense and the team on one night. Like I said I'm sure he is looking for a middle of the order left handed hitter ala Overbay or Huff.

I was at the game tonight in KC
Lima was awesome tonight. Other then that the game sucked, it happens, shake it off and go get 'em tomorrow.

Tonight was a good thing............
This is why none of us are gm's, the tendency to overreact to one game. I'd love to have Overbay and I'm sure Kenny's looking but he's not going to go nuts now because of tonight.

GAME THREAD 7-26-2005 SOX vs ROYALS
QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 09:53 PM) Overbay will cost us more than A. Huff would, I guarantee that. Huff is a FA after this season, and Overbay still has a few more years before he's a FA. Also, Overbay has turned into a fan favorite in Milwaukee. If we do trade for Milwaukee, can we get their announcing crew also? Those guys are great. Huff's not a free agent at the end of the season.

GAME THREAD 7-26-2005 SOX vs ROYALS
QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 09:45 PM) I'll actually agree with you on this. I'll take being 30 over .500 right now. It does matter, as the record is the only thing that counts during the regular season. One game isn't going to bring that record down to .500. And I don't want the Sox to acquire Overbay at all! He's extremely slow, and is no guarantee to handle the stress down the stretch. He had been struggling pretty bad recently, I believe. I like Overbay and I think he'd be a great addition. It's so frusterating though when there is so much overreacting to one stinkin game. We're 10 and 0 against them coming into today, unfortunately a game like this was bound to happen.

GAME THREAD 7-26-2005 SOX vs ROYALS
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 09:43 PM) He would of been sent down if it wasnt for Credes back. That is well documented. But hey maybe we can start him in front of Gooch. I think he is a difference maker. Have you missed the 2-3 times he's said Willie's been bad this year. The point is every single a game there's a scapegoat. Willie was bad tonight so were a ton of other players.

GAME THREAD 7-26-2005 SOX vs ROYALS
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 09:41 PM) That we are 30 games over .500. It doesn't mean s*** at the moment. Tonight we played like a team 30 games under. Why? Because Ozzie put in all the s***ty players on the universe! "No, it doesnt make my points moot because if your going to tell me that just because we are 30 games up this team doesnt need improvement? BS. Overpay for Overbay." You know what, I hate to be like this but to be honest you have no f***in clue what you're talking about.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 09:29 PM) I don't doubt this. I wonder, has Freddy pitched with the crappy line-up this year? Someone else can look that up if they want but he played with Crede as his shortstop and widger as his 3rd baseman. I know it was cause of injuries but it's not like Freddy hasn't had to work around poor defensive lineups before.....

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 09:26 PM) I dont f***ing know. If you defend Ozzie for putting out a s***tyy lineup and an even more horrible defenseive infield.......you = dumbass. Think it through. Now, I know tomorrow, everyone, cough kalapse cough, will be throwing it in my face that I conceded the season yadda yadda yadda. Bulls***! This is unacceptable! I find it hilarious how you overreact to every game, very laughable.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 09:19 PM) Nope....he's a product of just a ridiculously pathetic lineup by our manager tonight. What the f*** was Ozzie trying to accomplish tonight by benching 3 players? Maybe he read the thread about starting Willie??
