  1. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 9, 2005 -> 10:19 PM) Koch dominated at one time too. LaTrocious could just be damaged goods because his ego has been crushed so many times over. Difference between Latroy and Koch is Latroy hasn't lost his stuff his head is just messed up. The thing is though, the same crap happened to him when minny tried him as the closer, get Hawkins a change of scenery and I'd be willing to be he's a totally different pitcher.
  2. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2004 @ May 9, 2005 -> 10:17 PM) This loss is certainly nothing to get crazy over. But I am worried about the offense. It's just two inconsistent. I thought the 10 run explosion Saturday would kinda get us going. We have to take advantage of a guy with an era over seven. It's actually been pretty consistant. They've been scoring 4-5 runs in a lot of games, they just don't have those 8-9 run explosions that often.
  3. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 9, 2005 -> 10:17 PM) I wouldn't but it's quite obvious that he needs a change of scenery... BADLY! Well, there's absolutely no doubt about that. But seeing this guy dominate the al the way he did, I'd take him in an absolute heartbeat.
  4. Latroy's head is all messed up. It's amazing cause 2 years ago that guy was absolutely lights out, he was unhittable. I'd still take the guy in a heartbeat, he's the kind of guy that needs a role to be successful.
  5. That's awesome, man. Congratulations.
  6. QUOTE(Capn12 @ May 9, 2005 -> 09:46 PM) Singleton was one of the nicest guys I've met in person back in 2000. Upstanding guy, did what was asked of him and filled a hole we had at the time admirably. Yup, he was adequate with the bat and was a pretty damn good defensive center fielder.
  7. Yup, missed last year but is back. Whenever we're not playing Tampa I really wish Chris the best.
  8. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ May 9, 2005 -> 09:40 PM) I always thought his passed balls were youthful lapses in concentration. I don't watch enough Seattle baseball to say how he's worked on that Good point and I agree, he lost his concentration it seemed but that was hard to watch.
  9. He couldn't catch the damn ball behind the plate, that bothered me more then anything. I was getting sort of attatched to MO when he was traded and I'll always have a soft spot for the guy, I'll be wishing him the best for his entire career. That being said, I wouldn't want him back, aj's better at every aspect of the game except Miguel's obviously got the stronger arm.
  10. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 9, 2005 -> 08:54 PM) Maybe they won't -- but they're still in a great position, year in, year out, with an influx of new talent coming through the system. And they're always right there at the end -- on a payroll that is about two-thirds of ours (I think theirs is somewhere around $50-$55 million, though I could be mistaken). It's still the hotter team that's going to win, regardless of a stolen base or not. And, I'm still puzzled by the 'overrated' comment. Waiting for a response on that...? (and I realize you didn't make the comment, r44). You know what keith, we can argue this to death, the thing is we both just view things in a different way and that's the beauty of this thing. I respect your views completely, I just differ in those things. I'll just leave this where it is cause neither of us are going to change the others opinion.
  11. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 9, 2005 -> 08:45 PM) So, Oakland is good enough to get to the playoffs by not bunting, but the reason they lose in the playoffs is because they don't bunt? Simply put, they didn't play well in the playoffs. Usually it's the hotter teams that win, and Oakland didn't play well come playoff time. One doesn't win or lose a World Series because of bunting... I dunno... They're three games under .500 and their offense has been absolutely disgustingly bad this year. When it gets on track, it's going to be pretty good. Not many one-two punches better than Kotsay-Kendall. Right now, Kendall is really terrible. Win or lose, they're still in an awesome position for the next couple of years. Lots of young talent coming through that system, Crosby, Chavez, Swisher, Street, Haren, Meyer, Johnson, Barton (sp?), Powell. They're in a real good position... And, it's funny how everyone ripped DePodesta a new one this offseason... It's not just the bunting. I firmly believe that you need a guy or two on your team that can atleast steal a base, honestly you're going to have to manufacture runs one way or another in the playoffs whether that's stealing bases or laying down a bunt. There's going to be a critical point in each series where you're going to have to steal a base or advance runners to score a runner which could be the difference. The way they don't let any of their runners do anything, I'm very confident they wont win a world series.
  12. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ May 9, 2005 -> 08:42 PM) I always figured giving the ball to a little kid would help you get laid if you brought a date to the game No doubt.
  13. Definitely nothing wrong with bringing your glove to a game no matter how old you are. I definitely wouldn't be celebrating though if I caught an opposing teams homer, that ball would go to some little kid some where.
  14. QUOTE(flippedoutpunk @ May 9, 2005 -> 08:36 PM) i hear thats a pretty common dish in germany i forgot the word for it though SHIZA!
  15. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ May 9, 2005 -> 08:34 PM) What is dap short for? I have no clue but that is a great word.
  16. QUOTE(danman31 @ May 9, 2005 -> 08:26 PM) Thank you! Somebody sees it my way. God, who would have thought this thread would have turned ugly? Pssh, I saw it your way a long time ago, where's my dap(sorry pti)
  17. Well many people said this was the year we'd find out how good Billy Beane is and well Oakland just isn't that good. He did have the big 3 and that's what did carry that team and Depo was a big reason those guys ended up there. I can tell you one thing, until Beane changes his mind set a bit he won't ever win a world series, and I'm pretty damn confident in saying so.
  18. QUOTE(Whitesoxfan56 @ May 9, 2005 -> 08:06 PM) whom ever made this thread is an absolute moron....he happy about a loss??? to the devil rays??? dude you gotta lay off the drugs the sox lost and your happy...what a fan you are...we dont need you as a fan so f*** off ass hole No one is f***in happy about it but keep things in perspective, we lost one bleepin game after 8 straight to fall to 16 f***in games over .500 32 games into the year. LOSES HAPPEN!
  19. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ May 9, 2005 -> 08:03 PM) It's the freakin' devil rays man. You've gotta beat them. And we will, we'll take the next 2. You can't win every game, you're going to lose every now and then and we just won 8 straight so s*** happens.
  20. Just one of those games. Jose will shut 'em down tomorrow, then duque on weds and we'll take the series.
  21. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ May 9, 2005 -> 08:02 PM) Until the middle of our order starts hitting consistantly, we're gonna have alot of nights like this. Yup, that 1 loss every 9 games is a killer.
  22. We'll win the next 2 and take the series and probably get back on another roll.
  23. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ May 9, 2005 -> 08:01 PM) what is the game-time tommorrow? 6.
  24. f***. Go get 'em tomorrow Jose.
  25. Don't chase here Juan, he'll throw the splitty.
