QUOTE(shoota @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 08:12 PM) Someone needs to wake up this crowd. Jim Thome is batting with two outs, one run already in and two men on base. MAKE SOME NOISE. Well, they don't think these wins should count since they're playing NL teams, because of that...no noise.

QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 02:41 PM) That's a terrible comparison. The Nationals were never even close to THIS good, THIS late in the season. Furthermore, even when the were 10 or so games over .500, they had a NEGATIVE run differential. Anyone with half a brain knew they were going to eventually suck. The Tigers lead MLB in RD this year. I'm sick of people making dumb comparisons. They aren't a fluke. BP has them at over 80% odds to make the playoffs. Before you scream, the Sox are at 76% odds. Take that with a grain of salt, but historically, teams this good record wise and RD wise don't miss that playoffs that often. I must say, knowing BP has their odds that high to make the playoffs makes me feel much better that they won't get in.

QUOTE(TheHolyBovine @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 02:35 PM) I was trying to say that it's early yet, and I'm shocked that everybody is scoreboard watching in June. Does everyone think the Rangers will win the AL West? I don't, but they're in 1st place as we speak. I'll try to make a better comparison: Last year, the Nationals were in 1st place at the AS break, and they had a fantastic record in 1-run games. They didn't last, and neither will Detroit. The Rangers are in 2nd place currently and a whole 5 games over .500. The Nationals were playing very good baseball at this time last year and were 14 over. The Tigers are currently 26 games over .500, it is not fair at all to compare those teams, the records aren't even close.

QUOTE(TheHolyBovine @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 02:27 PM) I'll worry about the Tigers when they are leading the AL Central deep into August. Until then, they're a cute story. And a very good team.

QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 02:17 PM) The Tigers are about to win again. Tie Game in the Bottom of the 8th... Tigers have runners on 1st and 3rd with only one out for Granderson. St. Louis Sucks. Granderson=Game Over.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 02:12 PM) I think C. Lee is a very dangerous hitter. However, I also think he's not exactly a winning ball player. He's the type of player who will hit two homers in a 12-3 game, but will hit into a double play with 2 on, 1 outs in a one run game in the 8th inning. ^^^ Ding.

Kenny's thoughts on Ozzie and possible consequences
QUOTE(rangercal @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 01:51 PM) I hold nothing back on my rants. Personally , the more I think about it. I don't want Ozzie or Kenny gone. I want to keep a good thing going. I just don't agree with throwing your managers name out there to the hungry east coast bias media. Kenny should know better. Championship teams can easily be broken up because of small stories getting overblown becoming huge national stories. The Media will pick and choose what people around the country get to read and watch about us. If manufactured negativity flows around this team for a long period of time, you get major distractions. I have seen great sports teams in my life time get broken up a couple years too early because of off the field distractions. I am not happy with Ozzie running his mouth, I am not happy with our gm thowing him under the bridge. Because even if he meant it in the nicest of way, you know how espn runs things. Kenny didn't throw Ozzie under the bridge at all, not even close.

QUOTE(Hurons @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 01:50 PM) Laugh all you want. Carlos is in his prime, has the same stats this year as Thome. Add Carlos to LF on this team and the Sox fans would be pissed. No doubt about it. You can bash Lee all you want but he is a quality power LF. Almost, minus the fact that Thome has a much higher obp and much higher slugging percentage. Try again.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 01:03 PM) for all you know KW and Ozzie discussed this before KW even did the interview. I'd be willing to bet that they did.
