Sox Top 10 Prospects
Just guessing....... Jaisen Randolph, Mike Spidale and possibly Scott Bikowski, although I hope Biko gets a shot at AAA. He definitely deserves it. Mr. Bullard, you have any thoughts? Hey bogie, did you get my PM?

A 2nd Chance for Thomas Bashers
That makes one of us. LOL

Reed at 1st Base?
Anything is possible....... well, almost anything (he won't play SS!) When he is ready, the Sox will find a place for him and 1B will be an option, although OF will certainly be the first.

Sox Top 10 Prospects
For anyone who hasn't read it, that is a great read. Rogers answered over 100 questions over four hours in that chat. There is some very good info on Sox Minor Leaguers at all levels. My only regret is that I didn't ask him about Yofu and what the Sox are thinking in his regard.

Maggs makes his position known
We can't get that now for Maggs, let alone at the trade deadline. Expect less in July.

Maggs makes his position known
Who says? His agent says...... Is he going to listen to his agent or you?? His agent, obviously. That doesn't make you wrong and his agent right, but it is not hard to figure out why he thinks the way he does.
-
Maggs makes his position known
No, none of what he said means he won't explore his worth on the free agent market, while giving the Sox a very fair chance to retain him. I think it fits right in with what has been said.

Rex's Question on BA chat
I was very impressed with the chat. I had to leave to go on an appointment around 4:30 and I figured it was about done, but he went for 2 1/2 MORE hours. Needless to say, I had plenty of reading to do when I returned.

Maggs makes his position known
He'll get the money he wants...................... If he wants to play for DETROIT!
-
Rex's Question on BA chat
Jim, they didn't get me too much love, because I sent three questions and they only answered one. The other questions weren't really good ones, though. LOL

Still Sox?
Boston, I believe.

Sleeper Prospect
Kane has injuries as an excuse. Allen hasn't made it to Birmingham yet, so I don't know enough to discuss him.

Sleeper Prospect
Great, the site is now loaded with Sox Minor Leaguers....... I can't wait for the "Brandon McCarthy Sucks" thread or the "Send Wyatt Allen Back to Rookie Ball" thread. I can see the idiots typing the thread title now!

The Baseball America Top 10 Sox Prospects
The 40-man roster is the Major League roster. Those contracts are MLB contracts with MLB privileges. The option rules are based on who is on the 40-man, so the active 25-man roster has to do with options only in that if you don't stay on the 25-man roster you earn one of those options going back to the minors. And as was said earlier, they are option years, so a player can be promoted and sent to the Minors as many times as necessary within a given season and only one option is used.

Sox Top 10 Prospects
I know people who know people, Bull. ;-) Little birdies talk.

Sox Top 10 Prospects
Bull you hit 9 out of 10, before Takatsu was added. McCarthy was on the list prior to that point. You did quite well. No one else can figure why a 35-year old professional veteran would be considered a "prospect". I understand he is eligible for Rookie of the Year by the rules, but why call him a prospect I can't understand.

The Baseball America Top 10 Sox Prospects
Is it me or was that not in English, UNS? Any player that is on the Sox 40-man roster that does not make the Sox 25-man roster at the beginning of the season is optioned to the Minor Leagues. An option is burned whether that player plays in the Majors that year or not. So yes, you are correct that the option period begins at the end of ST when rosters are set. The rest of what you said when right over my head.

The Baseball America Top 10 Sox Prospects
I'm positive it is true, UNS. Options are based on being on the 40-man roster, not the 25.
-
The Baseball America Top 10 Sox Prospects
No, this is not true. The option for 2003 was burned when Rauch was sent to Charlotte to begin the season. Whether he was called up at the end of the season had NO bearing on how many available options he has. If he was added to the Sox 40-man roster in 2002, then he would have one more option left in 2004. If he was added in the offseason prior to 2001, then he is currently out of options and would need to clear waivers before being sent back to AAA. I am not sure when he was added to the 40-man roster. Anyone know for sure?? The bottom line is, calling him up last September would have had no bearing on his options. Read back a few posts, ss2k. You would not have heard this because it is not public knowledge and has never been reported that I know of. Some things you just gotta get from me. I got it from two people who knew people that were there. I trust my sources.

The Baseball America Top 10 Sox Prospects
OR, because he pissed KW off! lol
-
The Baseball America Top 10 Sox Prospects
No, someone else suggested that. I suggested he wasn't brought up because he pissed KW off by getting into a hot and heavy argument with him in front of a ton of people last year in Spring Training. I don't know any details, but I have heard it happened from two people. Both also speculated that he was left in Charlotte to teach him a lesson. It is speculation, but it would not surprise me at all. That said, I think Rauch will be in the mix for the #5 starter's spot and will have every chance to earn it. All things being equal, he may not be their first choice, but if he wins the job outright, he will get it.

Sox Top 10 Prospects
Actually, my man, I came from another board to here that I like very much as well. I have even been posting on WSI lately as well, so that means I either have no life or am just a message board slut............... Or a combination of both.

The Baseball America Top 10 Sox Prospects
Doubtful. Generally they decide on what they want from a player and have him concentrate completely on one thing to give him the best opportunity to succeed. It is hard enough to make the bigs doing one thing, let alone splitting your developmental time.

Sox Top 10 Prospects
You sort of beat me to it..... The list was up at midnight last night and I posted it on another board. I was too damned tired to do this one too, so I bailed and figured I would get to it for SoxTalk sometime today.

Sleeper Prospect
Just throwing a name out there for no reason other than a hunch....... Mike Spidale
