  3. According to BA, the Venezuelan Winter League ended Jan. 7 and Maggs only played 3 games. Were these playoff stats? I can't find anything to match your numbers. Help?
  4. In what Venezuelan League is he playing?? Where did you find those stats?
  5. Isn't that what Jason and I are for?? Why do you want KW to talk about guys you have already heard about?
  6. Godfather, I think you are overestimating Rowand's ability to hit for average. The HR number you listed is realistic, but I will be surprised if he hits .275. The RBI's actually will be a stretch if he hits out of the two-hole.

Are you sure we should give KW a bunch of money to spend?? Same thing could happen, which would cripple this franchise.
  8. 1. Crede 2. Konerko 3. Rowand 4. Olivo 5. Harris
  9. Still, their dirty laundry doens't need to be aired out in public. Period
  10. Why would he need to reach Frank? Why would it be so important to do so than to basically call him out in the media? C'mon southside, there is no excuse here. KW should have shut up on this one.
  11. You are probably right........ but the level of respect you treat your players, especially in the media will directly affect y our ability to do your job. Disrespecting any player in public is seen by the rest of the players on your team as well as players on other teams. Personal laundry should not be aired in public. That is not good business.
  12. Did it mention that KW has called Maggs???
  13. I was just going to make the comment that KW's comments seem to be either really stupid or intentional, one or the other. My thought is this..... IF he is doing as you say, I think that is a very gutless thing to do. I am not a Frank backer as Past alluded to, and I have heard things for 7 or 8 years now that Frank is moody and a pain in the ass. His teammates get along with him, yet they tolerate his selfishness and moodiness. I have heard those things so many times, from so many people (including some who have spent time in the clubhouse living with it) that I am inclined to believe it is true. However, Frank has performed on the field for the Sox in a big way through the year. Regardless if it truly would be better for the Sox and Frank to part ways, I don't think KW has given Frank the respect he deserves. Frank has a contract and KW needs to honor and respect that contract. If he doesn't like it, then he needs to look for other alternatives in a private way. If they are not there, then he should shut up and deal with the full length of the contract. Respect is an area where I feel KW is weak as a GM. Whether his goading at Frank is intentional or stupidity, either way it is disrespectful.
  14. I don't think anyone is saying you are wrong. Like you said, you have a different view of the list than BA. My view is probably somewhere between yours and BA's. I find nothing wrong your thoughts about Borchard, Rauch, etc. In fact, I hope I am wrong on Rauch. I definitely think Pacheco belongs, but I don't think he will get the proper respect since he came out of nowhere this year. If he does it again this year, you can bet he'll be near the top in 2005. I have made it a challenge with several friends over the years to predict BA's list, hence starting the thread here. I have come as close to getting 9 out of 10 right in the past, though I am usually good for 8 of 10.
  15. For those that have not already seen this on the Barons web site. Baj, Bull, Cotts and others who may be lurking, you will find this interesting. I saw the field the other day and it is still a complete construction zone. They were re-doing all of the drainage system, digging all the trenches and laying the new piping. It is my understanding that new pictures will be added weekly. Hoover Met Field Undergoes Facelift
  16. Very simply..... Borchard's lack of performance makes it easier to look for someone else that may have more realistic potential. Rauch is borderline, but I have never truly believed his hype from the beginning. I definitely think Pacheco belongs on the list, but he came out of nowhere last year and surprised everyone. I know how BA works and don't see him getting enough respect yet, even though he deserves it. BA's list is hype. It is speculation and heavy on high draft picks. The fact Borchard was their #1 last year will keep him on this year's list. It is not a list of which players are closest to the Majors today. It is a speculative list, kind of looking into a crystal ball, that tries to predict who will have the greatest impact (with a certain amount of hype mixed in).
  17. Here is another example of KW making comments that reflect negatively on Frank. Does he even know he says these things?? From the Sun-Times, Jan. 24, 2004 With their SoxFest convention a week away, Williams said he has not spoken to Frank Thomas or Magglio Ordonez, who was said to be involved in trade talks as part of the Alex Rodriguez-Nomar Garciaparra deal that never evolved. "Mags is a consummate professional, and whether there was speculation of him being moved, I expect nothing but professionalism from him,'' Williams said. Asked if he was concerned that he and Guillen have not spoken to Thomas, Williams shrugged. "We'll just wait and see,'' Williams said. "Hopefully, he'll show up to spring training ready to go.''
  18. Apparently Urbina will not face charges on the gun incident. Urbina
  19. I don't remember exactly where, but it was indeed reported that Hernandez was not impressive in front of the scouts and that he only threw 78 mph. It did say that he was not fully letting it go and that he reassured scouts that he would be fine in two months. Scouts were expecting him to be near full strength and were disappointed in what they saw.

The White Sox payroll in 1997 was $ 54,377,500. The Marlins that same year was only $ 47,753,000. The Sox payroll was higher than the Marlins in both of their World Series years. Marlins Salary History 1997 was the year of the Marlins first WS, wasn't it?

  22. brobe? Did I miss an English class?
  23. Stop it, I might start to blush.....
  24. I have said that since last June. See, we do agree on some things.
  25. I know a lot more than you think I know..... LOL I will try to explain this to you one more time in the simplest terms. I am your boss. You and I have talked and we both have information about another employee that is bad enough to keep that person from getting another job in our industry. Obviously it would be bad enough than that we know we cannot keep him. If I say to you, knowing the above information, that is it your call to keep him or let him go, then I am seriously neglecting my job. So after the employee is let go, I tell everyone that it was not my call to get rid of him. But then admit I have such damaging information that if I choose to let it out, would keep him from getting another job. How does that make me look? I knew about this supposed information, yet I let someone who works under me have the decision to possibly keep him on board? I would look like the biggest idiot of a boss in the world. Unless I am that big of an idiot, then that story must be wrong. Either I told you to get rid of the guy or there is not such drastically damaging information. Either way, I contradict myself or color myself as an idiot if I make the above comments to the media.
