Cotts starting the futures game
Ring enters the game to get the final out....

I'm going to Chitown.
biddingfortravel.com is a sight dedicated to priceline bids. You can see what was accepted and rejected. They have a list of the priceline hotels in each city, with reviews. It also shows rental cars and airfares. You should never use priceline without looking at this first. The people bidding figure out to the penny what priceline paid for the room, and what you could get it for. They even have administrators who will help you with your bid. I am checking it out now. It is very interesting. I have used Priceline extensively in the past without knowing about this site, and from what I can tell, I have done pretty well so far. I will certainly bookmark this site and refer to it in the future. My latest priceline coup was a Saturday night in the Buckhead area of Atlanta. I got a Doubletree Suites Hotel for $42.

If the Royals got Juan Gone
I definitely believe his window of opportunity to make the Majors is this year or next. If he doesn't make it by then, age will work against him. Thanks for the info Rex. My pleasure

Nope, Cotts has never been considered a hard thrower. Maine certainly has some nasty numbers. I am looking forward to seeing him. i can't seem to find the article to back me up, so i will give way to what others are saying. since this is somewhat a minors league based thread, how is Andy Gonzalez coming around. i have heard that he has been a huge disappointment this yr. Hitting around .230. Really struggled out of the gate. Then got hot about a month ago to get him up to .230 and has stayed right in that neighborhood. The Sox definitely hoped for more.

Well s***, I stopped paying attention and missed John Maine pitch. Good thing I am taping it. LOL

Ditto on Priceline. Hadn't heard of the other site. I have stayed at the Westin on N. Michigan Ave., the Congress Plaza Hotel, and the old Midland Hotel (which is now W Hotel) and never paid more than $65 a night in Chicago.

Many times....... He throws 7 pitches, all for strikes. Doesn't walk many. Can get the fastball up to 93 or so, but doesn't throw it as often as the Sox would like. Never seems to throw the same speed twice. Very polished. He is older (just turned 30) but is in his first year of baseball in America. Pitched in Japanese Minor Leagues (an injury kept him out of their Major League last year) and the Tawain Major Leagues. Started in Charlotte Friday night. Gave up three runs on 2 HR's in the first inning and basically nothing after that. Had 10 strikeouts in 6 innings. His combined numbers at Birmingham and Charlotte are: W- L- S ERA GP IP H BB SO TOTALS 6- 6- 2 3.30 23 90.0 80 27 83 Of his 23 games pitched, 12 are starts. So do you think if Porizo struggles he may be the next one up? I'm not sure how seriously the Sox take him. I know Backman likes him. But he is not on the 40-man roster so he would likely have to wait for someone else to get the chance that is on the 40-man or until a spot opens up in a trade. It's hard to say how he would do starting in the big leagues. Some think he might be a better reliever.

Still on the DL, so no way of knowing. They made it sound like it was nothing serious, but we'll have to wait until he is pitching again.

Good question...... I haven't seen him this year, so I am not sure. I didn't include him because he hasn't started all year. He has bounced from the rotation to the bullpen. He could be ready now, but his numbers haven't really shown any real consistency in AAA. My guess is you wouldn't get much more than 4-5 innings per outing from him.

At this point, I'd say Rauch (injury aside), Stewart or possibly Yofu.

ONE week ya guys say Frank should be in the AS
I have noticed he wasn't playing 1B as much and wasn't hitting as well. Could Frank not want to play first all the time?? Is he THAT bad defensively? I haven't noticed a huge difference between him and Paulie there.

Cotts is not ready to start in the Big Leauges.

Don't forget their manager is a former White Sox coach...

When Royce Ring come in to pitch, I think you'll see a little Randy Myers in him.

Fly into Midway unless O'Hare is that much cheaper. Do priceline.com for your hotel. Select a 3-star hotel and bid $60 or $65 a night. Select either The Loop-Grant Park or North Michigan Avenue for your area. Hotels in either area will put you close enough to catch the Red Line right to US Cellular Field. You can ride the Orange Line from Midway on the way in, or catch a cab (figure roughly $30 depending on exactly where your hotel is. Priceline will get you the hotel at that price. It will be a very nice hotel, such as the Westin, Hilton, etc... Nothing cheap. I have tried everyother site, but none have touched the deals in Chicago like Priceline. Last time I stayed at the Westin Hotel across the street from the John Hancock Tower (which happens to be the visiting team hotel for both the Cubs and Sox) for $65 a night.

Shows you what I know......... I thought VanBenschoten was a lefty. Someone mentioned the star cut in the grass earlier...... My understanding that is the first time there has been a different design cut in the grass at Comiskey/USCF in many years. Heard Roger Bossard never changes his cut from the basic checkerboard you always sees.

He is on the roster so most likely, yes.

Cotts starting the futures game
at 92, isn't it down from where he normals throw at, 94-96 I have always heard he was right about 90 give or take a couple of mph. That is why his K numbers are so impressive. he is a pitcher not a thrower. He's consistently at 87-89 and was today. He only hit 90 or above 4 or 5 times.

Krynzel and JJ Hardy (the #9 hitter and SS for USA) are both Brewers prospects and can both really play. The Huntsville team is loaded with good young prospects for the Brewers.

Cotts starting the futures game
The outing was pretty typical of Cotts. Lots of pitches, not too many guys getting good wood on the bat. Lots of K's. He is very good at climing the ladder like he did in his second strikeout. Can't figure out why they are mispronouncing the USA lead off hitters name... It is KRynzel as in Crin-zel, not Kin-zel.
