What is gained by booing players, especially in an all-Star Game? Why the fascination with booing?
-
Is it just me..?
Don't think!....... It can only hurt the ballclub.

berman talking about the boo-birds!
Just out of curiosity, why would you boo everyone??

I think you think too much.

FOULKE YOU KW!!!!!
Unless Koch can suddenly find his lost velocity this may turn out to be KW's worst trade ever and that's really saying something. Or it could turn out to be one of his best if Neal Cotts makes it big. Granted, that is kinda like sneaking in the back door, but in the long run, its possible.

Pirates want the farm from Cubs
My guess is that is a list of players they like and would like to pick from.

No Dontrelle?
Baker has seen Dontrelle pitch.

Especially strange to ask for Kelton and his brother Kelton too. LOL

Nachreiner Destroyed
4th round draft pick this year... HS pitcher out of Texas who would have been considered a possible first rond pick if not for two terrible knees. He is pitching at Great Falls and has had some success, but a couple of really bad outings as well.

JR corrects his "GM"?
Another good tidbit about managers...... Chances are, in fact, that is precisely the case. The list of managers who floundered early in their careers — only to eventually thrive when they reached the magical nexus of opportunity, experience and talent — includes Whitey Herzog, Jim Leyland, and, most recently, Joe Torre. Here, however, are the blunt numbers, in black and white, without regard to payroll, talent level, front-office support and other factors that often conspire to sabotage perfectly good baseball men.

Baseball Tomorrow?
what do you mean there is no aa game anymore..........sure there is......the schedule says so........ Please allow me to repeat.... There is no AA All-Star Game anymore. There is a Southern League All-Star Game and an Eastern League All-Star Game (not sure if the Texas League still plays the Mexican League or not), but there is no Joint AA Game anymore. They killed it after last year. well you didnt say aa all star game... you said aa game.......there is a difference... just wanted to point that out to you ........ and the original question asked or something not aa all star game....... Can you just try one time to type the words "I was wrong"? How in the hell could you have no understood what I said? You did, knew you were wrong and rather than admit it, are trying to split hairs. very, very weak testy tonite arent we tisk tisk.........i was merely pointing out the facts as they were typed on here.. nothing about me being wrong at all on this one... some people may not comprehend it as you stated it, cause not everyone is a mind reader like i am....... whatever you say....... you are always right

No, but the dumbasses should know not to interfere with a live ball in play.

JR corrects his "GM"?
More on Francona..... excerpt from full story below the link..... Francona Has A Zest For Life In Philadelphia, Francona managed a lot of unproven young talent in the beginning of a rebuilding stage, and it resulted in four consecutive losing seasons and a .440 winning percentage. "Tito was just in an unfortunate situation with what he had to work with," said Mike Lieberthal, one of the few remaining Phillies from the Francona era. Lieberthal loved playing for Francona. "Francona was awesome," the catcher said. "He's definitely a players' manager. He was great with not only younger players, but definitely veterans." Even Bobby Abreu, who was benched by Francona for two days for showing up late for a game in 2000, has fond memories of his former skipper.

JR corrects his "GM"?
Francona was considered a very good manager working for a really bad team. The Phillies have improved under Bowa, but they have also spent a ton more money for better players, as well as having players that were very young under Francona or still in the minors, develop into solid players. Francona is a players manager in that he expects them to do their jobs and lets them do it. He is not "fiery" but nowhere near laid back. He will not be afraid to call a guy out if needed, but will generally do it behind closed doors and not in the media or in front of other players. He was in the White Sox system as the Barons manager from 93-95. He was seriously considered for at least two managerial openings before this season but a serious illness killed his chances in the process. Serious enough that he almost died, from what I read. Here is a little on him from a Seattle paper when he was considered for the Mariners opening this year... In fact, Francona had a rap in Philadelphia of being too nice, too much of a players' manager. The Phillies improved their record in each of his first three seasons, but he was fired after a disastrous 2000. Ace Curt Schilling was injured early in the season and eventually traded to Arizona; Andy Ashby, a key winter acquisition, pitched poorly and was traded also, to Atlanta; and Mike Jackson, signed to be their closer, never threw a pitch because of an injury. The Phillies went 65-97. Francona nearly was hired by Arizona in 2001, finishing as runner-up to Bob Brenly, and interviewed this winter with the Rangers and Mets.

Backman is not a KW guy. He and KW would not mix well at all. I would be surprised to see Backman hired if KW is indeed in charge.

Baseball Tomorrow?
AAA All-Star Game is at 8:00 (eastern, i think) on ESPN2. There is no AA game any more.

take a good look.........
This is a MLB game so the revenue is all theirs. I am sure there is a split with the concession and parking revenue that will favor the Sox, however. I would guess the Sox get a decent share of the All-Star Game souvenirs as well. I am sure the Sox got either a percentage of MLB's revenues or a flat $$ amount that will more than cover the expenses. Now what MLB does with the money I am not sure. I don't know if it is split between all teams or what. I'm sure the Sox are well taken care of, but it is certainly not comparable to hosting it as their own event.

Honel called up to AA?!?
Honel is back in Winston-Salem. Dang! My thoughts exactly. I thought both he and Yofu deserved promotions. Unfortunately, they both were sent back. So what happens if/when Malone returns to B'Ham, does someone have to get sent down/up? Man could you imagine if Malone comes back healthy and pitching well, a rotation of Cotts, Honel, Malone? Scary. Yes, someone would have to be moved. But I think we are still a ways away from seeing a dominant Malone at this level.

New voting procedure
I, for one, think this winner gets home field advantage is BS and hope it does not continue to be that way. The result they are getting is for the game to be taken more seriously and managed differently than it has in recent years. I think they could have accomplished the same things in other ways, but if this is how they think it is best, then so be it. I think the game should be played hard and played to win. it should be considered an honor to be chosen to the team. I think you can have that very atmohphere, with a legacy player on each side.

New voting procedure
You actually believe that? It was totally a front office doing, Zito said he was fine and Selig knows he wants Clemens in the game. I don't buy that it was all the A's call at all, but that's just me. They'll do anything to get Clemens in there and make a dollar. It's supposed to mean something, but Selig promotes it as being an exhibition when he talks about how it's great for Clemens to be in the game. He threw 106 pitches Sunday. Would you want the Sox ace throwing on one days' rest after doing that?? Zito could say that he can jump off tall buildings, but that doesn't mean it is what is best for him or the Oakland A's.
