Edwin Almonte
I hope he does very well.

Minor change for the barons
Pitching is certainly where our depth is.

Minor change for the barons
Barons also sent Kris McWhirter down to Winston-Salem and activated Scott Dunn, acquired from the Reds yesterday.

Deadline
I have heard July 25 and July 31. July 31 is the trading deadline, but I have seen the 25th mentioned more than once. Not sure which is correct.
-
Rios
I don't see Rios accepting an assignment to AAA.

Barons Team Set
The cards. I am not seeing them at all now, on any of the threads. Thats weird, could have something to do with the cache, but I assure you that they are loading on my end and I'm guessing on all the other users ends. I wish I could give ya a better answer. Jason, I can see them today. Weird...

Let's shop Lee...
I say we trade Everett instead of Lee, IF we are going to move an outfielder, that is... No reason why we can turn right back around and trade him again.
-
HOPE FOR ESTEBAN!!!!!
Can't recall specific instances, but I would guess that it has happened many times.

2nd Future All-Star
The rosters are set and Ring will play. The only way the Sox get another guy is if someone gets hurt or promoted to the Majors and a replacement is needed. Then it would be based on position.
-
*Official* Jimenez traded to the Reds
Miles is either ready or not. There is no need for more time for him to develop. I have noticed him taking more walks however, so improving is not out of the question. But he is at a make it or break it level this year and next.

HOPE FOR ESTEBAN!!!!!
Why can't he be both?

Random All-Star Thoughts
Careful what you ask for. If Huff makes the team, the chances of Frank making it are even more slim.

Carlos Castillo back...
Welcome back to civilization.

Random All-Star Thoughts
Closer vs. reliever, I guess. You're right, Levine's #'s are better.

Random All-Star Thoughts
Sweeney is on the DL. Speculation is he won't be ready to go for the Game.

Barons Team Set
Hey Jason, do you know why my sig isn't coming up in this thread??
-
Barons Team Set
They certainly are colorful.. Anyone remember 1975??
-
Carlos Castillo back...
All of this was covered in last night's Minor League boxscores thread. Try and keep up people.

Random All-Star Thoughts
1. Frank deserves to make the team and will likely be asked to replace Mike Sweeney. It is getting in using the back door somewhat, but who cares. He deserves it. He should have gotten in over Carl Everett. 2. I find it interesting that Tim Hudson did not make the game, yet Keith Foulke did. Foulke has just 4 blown saves this season, but ALL FOUR were in Tim Hudson starts. Foulke ought to give Hudson half his AS bonus (guessing there is one) for making it while all but assuring that Hudson would not. 3. Dontrelle Willis will likely make the game in place of Kevin Brown. Brown has been battling a abdominal muscle injury and they can be tough to heal quickly. This is just a random thought and not backed up by any info other than what is in my head. 4. The concept of having the winning team get the home field advantage in the WS is stupid. The players aren't going to play harder because of this, considering most of them won't be playing in the WS. If the goal was to get the starters to play longer and to manage the game more to win than it has been lately, MLB could have just mandated that. They could have mandated that all players have to be in uniform until the game is complete. That no player could leave for the airport while the game is going on. That starters would play longer. That not every player has a "right" to play. Remind them that it is an honor to be selected alone. 5. Speaking of selection....... The process this year was stupid... A large percentage of the players didn't even vote. Ravech on Baseball Tonight said that at least half of the Yankees didn't cast votes. It was extremely unlcear how the process would work (selection by players and manager). 6. The only good thing they did is add two players to the roster. This lessens the painful effect of every team having a member on the squad. 7. I think the way they handled the all-star game last year was bad in that they didn't have a plan for that occurrence even though it could have happened in any of the 10 previous years. The game has been managed differently so that every player can play (remember O's fans being irate that Mussina didn't get in the game at Camden?) so a tie and extra innings were going to happen, it was just a matter of time. There was no contingency plan. 8. The fact that the game ended in a tie was no big damned deal. Every one cried and felt that the fans at the game were cheated, but they got to see two more innings than normal. Any knowledgeable fan would already be aware of how the game is played and that by playing everybody means extra innings would be trouble. Hell, I went to the AS game in Atlanta a few years ago and I have no idea who won or lost. The game is an event and the way it has been the past 10 years, it was an exhibition and winning and losing weren't a priority. If they wanted to change that, they could have without all the BS they have attached to it this year. 9. Guys I am looking forward to seeing play in an all-star game (besides the obvious)... Mark Prior, Dontrelle Willis, Carlos Delgado (he may be obvious), Alfonso Soriano (ditto Delgado), Esteban Loaiza, Jamie Moyer, Vernon Wells, Hank Blalock and Nomar. Some guys have played before and others are first-timers. The reasons for wanting to see these guys varies.

Barons Win Awards
Now thats the spirit Rex. Never used that one either. Think I'll save it for a special occasion, however.

THOMAS STILL HAS A SHOT!
Hey, don't criticize the guy who was just acquired to lead the Sox to the pennant. LOL

THOMAS STILL HAS A SHOT!
I think you are getting lost in his first month. Just like I think too many people gave Carl Everett too much credit for his huge first month. Frank has gotten better each month of the season. Carl has gotten worse. (Here's hoping that he changes that trend in July) Frank has really come on in the last month or two. I believe he deserves to go.

THOMAS STILL HAS A SHOT!
Most of you know, I am not the biggest Frank fan out there, but I think he wins this comparison with Everett. I think Giambi deserves a slot as well. I really think Frank will be asked to replace Mike Sweeney, so he will make it regardless.
