  1. Wouldn't they get a 3rd player if they took those two? I may have made an assumption, but I thought Yan and Webster were the only two guys in the "A" pool that limited the Rangers to two players. Was I wrong?
  2. If they had a scout at tonight's game, then they would be stupid not to take Pacheco. He was hitting 94-95 on the radar gun often and blew Jacksonville away. He pitched 7 innings, gave up 6 his and no walks, one run and struck out 8. He throws a good hard fastball with life, a nice slider that can come in as high as 87 or as low as 78-79. Needs a third pitch though. Didn't throw too may changeups as far as I can see. The best thing about his performance tonight is that he threw exactly 100 pitches and 70 were for strikes. He has really come out of nowhere this year.

Cooper is a Minor League vet. Ginter still has a chance and has pitched very well this year. Hummel is playing very well and is far from done. So on your list, you are right on 1, wrong on two. Ginter may not ever make it, but he definitely still has some value.
  4. Personally I believe in option one, cause I think Jeff Weaver is a very good starter. Have any numbers to back that up? I look at his career numbers and don't see it. He has always given up more hits than innings pitched. His walk totals are decent, but his strikeout numbers aren't great. He may be better than Danny Wright at the current time, but what does that do for your team? You move Danny to the bullpen where his success is very uncertain since he has never pitched from there. Then you trade away the one guy that may be able to pick up saves while Koch is still struggling and is a pretty reliable setup guy if Koch finds his groove? That, PLUS possibly giving up one of your top two or three pitching prospects?? And trading with the Yankees, who you may have to compete with in the playoffs?? I can't see this being a really smart move unless you move Weaver onto another team and I would be really surprised to see that happen.
  5. That would be really stupid. Don't see that happening.
  6. Cotts is not ready, Rauch is hurt, Stewart just coming back off DL. Probably need another option if that route is taken, not that I think it will.

Hey, I'll give a guy credit where credit is due. I'll also criticize when I believe it is necessary.
  17. Rex Hudler replied to a post in a topic in Pale Hose Talk
I agree to a point. If a guy has all-star caliber numbers and is on the bubble, so to speak, then I think that can be factored in. Do I think it is owed to him? No But I think that is a legitimate factor that whoever is selecting would consider, as long as his season merits the consideration in the first place.
  18. Rex Hudler replied to a post in a topic in Pale Hose Talk
A month ago I don't think there was any way Frank deserved a slot in the All-Star Game. Today, I think he almost has to be chosen. He and Carl Everett's seasons have almost been the exact opposite of each other. Frank had a poor month in April, a decent May and a hot June. Carl, had a great April, a solid May and a s***ty June. Frank is on the way up. Carl is not. Frank should definitely get the nod if it were to come down to the two of them.
