  1. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 04:13 PM) He actually hit .306 with 22 steals in 28 attempts. The next season he hit .250 with 12 steals in 26 attempts. That's a slight dropoff.
  2. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 04:11 PM) I've still haven't heard him answer the question. WCSox, Was Mike Caruso a "proven" MLB hitter after batting .301 in 1998? YES.
  3. QUOTE(WCSox @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 04:08 PM) That's funny, I don't feel humiliated at all. Perhaps you need to put down that joint. It's bob's joint not his silly.
  4. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 04:08 PM) And those who receive such vicious, humiliating e-beatdowns should just kinda fade away, if you know what I'm saying.
  5. QUOTE(WCSox @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 04:05 PM) I'll say it again for you, nice and simply: When shooting for a second WS victory and the need to fill a hole at one position, players who are very good defensively, have great speed on the bases, and are at least adequate at the plate are preferable to players with little or no MLB experience. On one hand, you have a player who has had at least some success in the majors and you have a good idea of what you're going to get the following season. On the other hand, young players who haven't had time to adjust to major-league pitching are big question marks. If they don't make the adjustment quickly enough (or at all), they could be liabilities down the stretch. We won't know until the oppourtunity is given to BA to patrol center, and it has been given to him, so we will find out in 06 how he does.
  6. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 04:00 PM) How did this thread get to 18 pages? That's a good question, i have no idea.
  7. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 04:00 PM) I really think that the White Sox have the advantage over the Red Sox in getting Tejada. I know that the Orioles still want to get the most value for Tejada, but trading him to a division rival? i think that is b'mores only reason for not trading tejada to boston, besides money.
  8. QUOTE(WCSox @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 03:56 PM) Why? Because we all know how important JC an FG were to us in the playoffs, and out of the three of them, JV has done nothing for the team since he really cant because there are no games right now.
  9. QUOTE(WCSox @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 03:56 PM) Dictionary O ok i never heard of that word before.
  10. QUOTE(Felix @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 03:50 PM) If Freddy goes, Ozzie would go crazy. If Count goes, this board goes crazy. If Vazquez goes, I'll be happy as hell. [edit] Wait, wasn't Phil Rogers the same guy who said there would be a 4 team trade? If so, this has lost all its validity from my perspective. i would perfer to see vazquez go out of those three as well.
  11. QUOTE(WCSox @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 03:52 PM) I hope it's your last post as well, as those who engage in ad hominemattacks are intellectually worthless. what's an that word?
  12. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 03:48 PM) From the other Sox message board... I didn't hear this personally but I know Phil Rogers is like the Sam Smith of the MLB. He speculates on almost every trade scenario. i would guess it would either be count or vasquez. I think freddy will stay here.
  13. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 03:44 PM) On the other board someone there claims Phil Rogers said on the Score that he believes Tejada will be traded to the Sox next week. Anyone hear this? i heard that,it was on the whitesox.com message board.
  14. QUOTE(WCSox @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 03:30 PM) Because... (1) Anderson has little MLB experience and the Sox aren't "rebuilding." Developing young players isn't a priority this year. (2) Taveras is very good defensively in CF and can play LF or RF as well (3) Taveras can steal 30+ bases, something that this team could really use (4) Anderson is a question mark against MLB pitching, while Taveras has proven that he won't be a liability at the end of the lineup. Agreed. FWIW, I don't think the trade will happen. 1.You said yourself that taveres also has little mlb experience, 2.anderson is susposed to be as good if not better than rowand in terms of fielding or range and can play all outfield positions, 3.anderson won't steal 30 bags, but is capable of rowand speed, 4.he hasn;t played often so of course he would be a ? vs. mlb pitching, but he did own felix "the cat" hernandez.
  15. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 03:27 PM) All because of a rumor from f***ing mlbtraderumors.com? I know i figured 8 pages at most.
  16. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 03:25 PM) Contreras for Taveras, Qualls, and Hirsh/Patton. It's the only way I wouldn't b**** about this rumored trade. That would be the only way i would like that trade.
  17. QUOTE(WCSox @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 03:19 PM) Well put. I find it astounding that I'm getting jumped on for even suggesting that the Sox might want to hold off on Anderson while going for another title. Taveres is very good defensively and has great speed on the bases. I think that the Sox could benefit from another Podsednik-like player. They need more than one person that can be a threat on the bases, especially considering that their #2 base-stealer is now in Philly. If the price is low enough, why not trade for Taveres? If Anderson isn't ready for major-league pitching yet, Taveres is a great insurance policy. If he turns out to be a bust, he can ride the pine (for the league minimum) and Anderson can play. Why would we trade for taveres to sit him or play him just incase BA doesn't do so well?
  18. QUOTE(qwerty @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 03:17 PM) I am saying position players... along with pitchers. I know, that's the only exception that i know of to do that.
  19. QUOTE(qwerty @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 03:15 PM) Realistically i do not understand this and never will. Players have and will always be eased into the starting role. Believe it or not... not every starter in the majors was always a starter. Roger Clemens was always a starter except for 2 relief appearances.
  20. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 03:15 PM) I find it fitting that we're having this argument with Taveras striking out on 5 pitches with a runner on third when El Duque couldn't find the plate to save his life right now on Comcast. Sweet.
  21. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 03:12 PM) Bobby Jenks did ok for being a rookie...Sox seemed comfortable in giving him a shot, just like they seem comfortable in giving BA a shot. But we need a proven talent to be a closer.
  22. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 03:10 PM) ...but now we have a question mark in the bullpen! ...and if we trade Contreras he'll move into the rotation making it a question mark in the rotation and a hole in the bullpen! But it's all good as long as we erase that question mark in CF with a "proven" .291 hitter! EXACTLY!
  23. QUOTE(WCSox @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 03:08 PM) He's already been booted out of the rotation in favor of proven talent (Vasquez). Thanks for proving my point! No, as a back up plan for when we all figured jon would leave after next year, and assuming the count would stay so we would have 5 starters and not 4. Thats why we traded for him. BMac would be penciled in in place of whoever left.
  24. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 03:05 PM) I suppose Brandon McCarthy should be sent to the curb as well? Why should we let him develop this year either? Yeah we should kick him to the curb.....
  25. QUOTE(WCSox @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 02:55 PM) LMFAO at the homers who are "overrating" a player who hasn't really played in the majors yet. You just said that you wanted to give CF to a proven major leaguer and not BA and suggested tavares, but then said that tavares does not have that much major league experience.
