QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jan 9, 2006 -> 04:33 PM) Whats so troubling about the whole situation is that when Hawk fans talk about keeping the "core" together, they bring up names like Bell, Calder, and Ruutu. Are these guys really "Core" players to build around? Bell looks like to be an alright two liner, Calder can bang in the garbage goal, and to be dead honest, I really dont know what Ruutu is going to turn out to be. I really dont see Ruutu putting in 40 goals like people said. If Roots can put in 30 goals, and get 100 PIMs, I would say he is a solid center, and could play on the 1st line, maybe. Just a very scary and sad situation going on at the UC. For both teams that play there, but the bulls have won their last 2 games! -
So what is this guy going to be doing for the cubs anyway? Some FO stuff?
-
If they make it that's great, if they don't oh well, hopefully the panthers make it if they beat the bears on saturday or sunday. The Panthers are one of my favs and just to clarify, i liked them when they were terrible, not because of their recent success.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jan 9, 2006 -> 04:19 PM) Can I say "Wait til next year"? I'll still go to games. I actually enjoyed going to the Vancouver game, watched Ruutu have one helluva night, and enjoyed watching Yakubov finally get a shot. Plus, if you don't like watching Morrison/Bertuzzi/Naslund work, then I have to question you a bit... Time to play the young kids. Vorobiev and Yakubov need to be up here for the rest of the year, regardless of how bad they are on defense. Tallon needs to tell Yawney that Babchuk/Keith/Seabrook need to be in the lineup every night -- preferably Barinka as well. Trade whoever has value, outside of your 'core' players. At this point, on offense, your 'core' players are Calder and Ruutu. Maybe Bell. Oh, and Barnaby can stay too, because he does his job -- he's good at being a b**** on the ice. I can stand him. Seabrook is hurt. Latest News Jan. 8, 2006 - 8:22 am et Brent Seabrook has begun skating. Sseabrook has missed the last seven games with the Hawks due to a knee injury. It is still unknown when he will return as he has yet to practice with the team. Keep him reserved for now. Source: Chicago Sun-Times -

Maybe they can get the first pick in the draft if they keep up the tremendous play. -
QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jan 7, 2006 -> 02:54 PM) I guess if you call the Padres a playoff team. They would not have gotten in if they were in any other Division. The Dodgers and Giants were in the same Division and had a higher payroll than the Sox. The giants weren't in cause Baroid didn't play a full season, and they sucked most of the year.

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jan 7, 2006 -> 05:06 PM) How can you say Clemens is past his prime? He had an ERA below 2 this season. That was puzzling to me too. His record would have been better if the astros could have scored more runs for him in the begging of the season.

South Park Really Ticks Off Catholics

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 10:03 PM) I find it ironic that you can argue for drugs, socialism, anti-americanism, all things left because you feel that you are so open and understanding....but the minute a catholic crosses your path thats when you just have to draw the line, all catholics except for a few are evil people that are responsible for the worlds evils. Its the socialist doubletalk twostep. I am sure that we can find evil actions by all societies throughout history. But please cherry pick the evil catholics and their plight to destroy the earth. No catholic unless they are delusional supports priests raping children. I think those priests should be excommunicated and tried for their crimes. However who the hell are you to judge all catholics and lump them in because of your biggoted anti-religion view. The church isnt preaching for the spread of aids. What a myopic view you have of this issue. GMAFB, If these poor african people are truly such good little catholics that they have to sit by doctrine law and dont use birth control, then what the hell are they doing having sex outside of the confines of marriage. So there goes the misconception that aids in africa is the problem of the church and their stance on birth control, because if they decide to go poking around outside of marriage then they can put on a rubber. Maybe you can build a time machine and enjoy the roman empire and how they treated the catholics. -

New Tejada News: O's reportedly make a proposal...

QUOTE(fathom @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 01:27 PM) That's the thing. Even though a lot of people seem to be against acquiring Tejada, I'm sure these are the same people who will be praising him when he's putting up 300-35-110 next season. Who wouldn't praise those numbers? -
QUOTE(Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 01:25 PM) Score just reported we inked Rob to 2 years plus an option. I think it was in the neighborhood of 2-3 million per year. Cool, now he just has to try to get a deal done with the Rally Crede and we're set.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 10:48 AM) I agree and I am not sure either. This world baseball thing is a wild card, and the Sox are in a unique position having won it all. Trying to read the tea leaves and follow along with KW's statements and his course of action. I like it when he said he'd have to be overwhelmed with an offer for Contreras, that's a good approach. That said, I think they'll either sign him to an extension fairly soon or trade him. I do not think they'll let this hang over their heads all season, but who knows. I agree with you Jim, it would be pointless to keep him for an entire season and not get anything in return if he doesn't sign an extension.
