  1. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Dec 10, 2005 -> 05:03 PM) They're exactly 3 superstars in the game today. Shaq, Duncan and KG. You must be talking about name recognition because I certainly don't consider Shaq a superstar TODAY. He looks like more of a player on the decline... Well, at least you didn't say Grant Hill. And I find it funny that you complain about Pip not being a go-to guy when Shaq is the first guy you foul in crunch time because of his atrocious free throw shooting. You're making it strange for me having to agree with hammerhead... Anyways, ANY player you put next to The Greatest Player of All Time is going to be a "sidekick" by nature, even the other "superstars" that you've named, so I'm not sure exactly what you're trying to say, other than your use of "superstar" being different from most everone else.
  2. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Dec 10, 2005 -> 02:37 AM) I disagree with those who claim Pippen would've been more and gotten more recognition away from MJ. First of all, Pippen was not a superstar. He was a great player, no doubt, but never, ever in the same catergory of Michael, Magic, Bird, Hakeem, ect. You place very high standards on "superstar." I didn't know you had to be one of the top ten players of all time. I think being top 50 would suffice, and Pippen is certainly that. This has to be one of the first times I've ever heard someone say PIP isn't a superstar... His accolades speak for themselves, and he definitely deserves the recognition that he gets and more. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Dec 10, 2005 -> 02:37 AM) Lastly, I think some people forget how immature Scottie was when he first came in. He was somewhat lazy and didn't take the game as seriously as he should've have. I remember reading in one of Phil's books that it was Michael who would always get on Scottie to work harder and take the game more seriously. That Michael's work ethic and determination rubbed off on Scottie, making him a better player. I'm not saying Michael is responsible for what Scottie was able to accomplish, but don't underestimate the impact Michael had on Scottie. Wow. Pippen was lazy? Yeah, he must have been seeing how everything was served to him on a silver platter...a high school superstar highly recruited by all of the prestigious colleges, right? Recognize how hard he worked. Look back at his roots. He earned it all. Anyways, I like the underrated status that Pip sometimes gets. It makes me appreciate his game more.
  3. QUOTE(qwerty @ Dec 10, 2005 -> 12:43 AM) I am saying he was the better one on one defender out of the two. Clearly neither were a slouch but i would give the edge to rodman. He would keep everyone off balance and would even let the passer get the ball into the man he was guarding countless times a game. I have never seen anything like it. I know i am not the only one with that train of thought. Fair enough, but it's tough to judge when they both have different jobs. Personally, I see Pippen as the better defender, especially the much more versatile one. I hated rodman but appreciated his game. Pippen brought so much to the team with his versatility.
  4. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 11:51 PM) idk, I just think he was more than a complimentary player, but not a superstar. And yes statistically when Jordan wasn't there averaging over 20 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists. That's very solid, but unlike some of the greats, when his career was ending, his ability statistically really took a hit. So your argument is that he isn't a great because his numbers went down when he got older? That's almost every single great player... Off the top of my head I can only think of Jordan retiring on top.
  5. QUOTE(qwerty @ Dec 10, 2005 -> 12:28 AM) Btw, i believe rodman> pippen defensively that is not even including their rebounding skills. I know someone will bring up pippens steals but believe it or not steals and blocks look good in the box score but they are only about a quarter of the game defensively imo. I hope you mean just guarding big men. I was agreeing with almost everything you were saying about PIP in this thread 'til now...
  6. QUOTE(qwerty @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 11:01 PM) Would have been better in my opinion and would have gotten alot more recognition. He was the best all around player in the league the when jordan went to try out baseball. Agreed. And Jordan doesn't win six championships...
  7. Elton Brand is looking like an MVP candidate early on...wish it was for the Bulls.
  8. QUOTE(qwerty @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 04:22 PM) Greatest facial dunk of all time... PIP
  9. I was actually impressed that he was hitting his free throws too.
  10. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 5, 2005 -> 09:25 PM) Crawford would probably cost some combination of Brian Anderson, Josh Fields, and Sean Tracey. I'd give up all 3 and cream my pants if it actually happened.
  11. How long are players usually out with a concussion?
  12. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Dec 5, 2005 -> 09:11 PM) Here is where you are just dead wrong. His defensive upside is through the roof. How many games do you watch? Honestly? I honestly watch every single Bulls game and have grown tired of 5 years of upside and am ready for results.
  13. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Dec 5, 2005 -> 09:08 PM) Tyson's scoring: 02-03: 9.2 ppg 03-04: 6.1 ppg 04-05: 8.0 ppg 05-06: 5.8 ppg 6 points per game from a 7-1 guy, plus he is averaging less than one block per game at 7-1!! Tell me this guy is worth $10 million or even 6 million. His defesive is good, not great, his offensive is horrible. Brace yourself for the altered shot argument. Never mind how often his weak frame gets pushed around.
  14. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Dec 5, 2005 -> 08:58 PM) That's funny, because in one thread you're talking about Vasher as if he's worth something defensively. In another thread, you're talking s*** about our primary defensive building block. Your take on all things defense is very interesting, to say the least. He said he loves Tyson but wants him to stay out of foul trouble and hasn't proved he's worth the money so far. All legitimate concerns. I'm assuming he maybe does like his defense since he criticized his scoring. Which part didn't you agree with? Edit: Ben is looking good early, which is going to be crucial with Kirk out tonight. 7 points and 3 assists.
  15. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Dec 5, 2005 -> 08:55 PM) Can Tyson please stay out of foul trouble and learn to score. He is proving that he isn't worth $10 million a year. I love Tyson, but he has been really dissapointing and he seems to have digressed as far as scoring ability. You and me both.
  16. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Dec 5, 2005 -> 08:54 PM) Chicago Stagg retro uni's. May this be the first and last time they ever wear those. I seriously thought the mavs forgot their road uni's and switched shorts with the Bulls while the Bulls wore their practice jerseys.
  17. QUOTE(qwerty @ Dec 5, 2005 -> 08:43 PM) Some of the worst jerseys evar. Just turned the TV on to catch the elbow to Kirk. Did they explain the uniforms? What is that?? Ben hits a three. BENCH HIM!
  18. Has Dane Cook bashed him too? I like Dane Cook's stand-up more than his.
  19. I like The Wayans Bros. I forgot about that show 'til I caught some reruns on BET, I think.
  20. QUOTE(knightni @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 01:29 AM) I liked Lost in Space. Bad movie...yet I watched it like 5 times 'cause I thought lacey chabert was cute at the time. (No blushing smiley?)
