I think its false. Ill ask my friend who works the cameras for the sox hitters, he would know more than someone who works in sales and basically has zero interaction with the team, and appears to just be spreading rumors. Also the speed is so off it doesnt matter anyway.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 12, 2008 -> 02:36 PM) Actually, I can come up with a couple ways he shouldn't play every day. If Anderson, for example, could hit like he was in the spring, that gives us 4 OF's for 3 spots, all of whom should be playing. In that case, we're in the enviable position of not being able to play Quentin every day because we're too good. Asshole And regardless, BA doesnt have the OBP of Q, I think Q will always be the better player.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 11, 2008 -> 08:49 PM) I really hope we give Quentin time to turn into an everyday starter as a corner OF. That really was an excellent trade by KW. He should be. Its a nice improvement to have a 270-280 avg and a .350+ OBP in LF. Add in some power and plus fielding and there is no way this kid shouldnt play everyday.

From the Tigers board. I remember that feeling last year, hoping for any way to stop the bleeding.

I see in the Tigers game threads they were blaming alot of their woes on the weather, a slippery ball and an infield that should have stopped the game. Oh and its likely that they would get 2 runs off Jenks.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 11, 2008 -> 01:02 PM) When you consider the players are in their late teens and early twenties, I think it's fair that we rarely hear about the reasons why they are suspended and it's just referred to as "a violation of teams rules". But yeah, if you hear the term "violated team rules", it almost always means: 1. Failed a drug test 2. Failed/failing a class 3. Failed to make it to practice on time (or at all) 4. Got into some trouble at the bar/club Only so much trouble you can get into at college for the most part, since schools are often in smaller to medium sized towns. Its just funny how much its emphasized when it happens to a pro player as opposed to a college kid. It appears Clifford again may have been caught testing positive for weed, and possibly a few others. -
QUOTE (The Beast @ Apr 12, 2008 -> 11:06 AM) Prove it, wite. No need to use caps. I just think some people, including posters here and especially Ozzie are making a big deal out of nothing. Obviously I'm an umpire and I know for a fact, I may not like some of the people I'm working for, but it doesn't make me have a vendetta against them, and I won't change calls because I know I'm umpiring for someone. When people get out of line, you get thrown out, which is exactly what happened to Ozzie and which is exactly what happened to several coaches I've umpired for. Do you umpire for pro ball? I used to ump for little league, and I know I would just work and not care who is on the bench. But MLB is different, and he doesnt necessarily change calls, but he has a quick hook for Ozzie, which is what the point was.

QUOTE (Disco72 @ Apr 11, 2008 -> 06:38 PM) For those coming late, 2 walks by Willis who left with an "injury". Thome K's, Paulie up. Fixed. If and injury means sucking, then yes. Thome will come around. That was a nasty slider. And the ump has already shown he has no idea where the strike zone is. -
Seriously, all you tombstone guys, try a Jewel thin crust, it blows it away.

QUOTE (jackie hayes @ Apr 11, 2008 -> 07:35 PM) What happened? I missed the first couple hitters. Dontrelle cant hit the mitt, blamed it on a slip off the mound. -

Dontrelle with the fake limp off the field. Sorry buddy, your stats support the fact you flat out suck, its not the halfway slip you had. -
QUOTE (greasywheels121 @ Apr 10, 2008 -> 03:20 PM) I consider DiGiorno to be disgusting, and I don't know anyone that would ever consider that "delivery". I find it gross as well. And extremely overpriced.

Jewel thin crust, cheaper than tombstone and beats the hell out of it. If I want to spend more money, Home Run Inn are tops.

Turns out the Buckeye's Eugene Clifford was suspended last season because he failed a drug test as well. How come we dont hear much about this? -

QUOTE (SoxWS05 @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 01:50 PM) You may be a Sox fan but deep down inside you were hoping Crede would fail, so your man-crush Fields could come up. I can't believe you said it would be moronic to trade Fields for Harden or Lincecum! These players are easily double the value of Fields. I expected to be called a moron for even suggesting Fields is worth the value of Lincecum or Harden. Harden would be an injury risk, but he's dominant. Lincecum is just plain filthy. If we got either we would be contenders for real. Guess what? The Sox have money and no one player is going to "suck payroll flexibility" as you put it. YOU think before you post son. Ugh, you should have taken my advice and just read the site. I am in favor of the player who helps the team the most, ive said that repeatedly. I even have a pic of Crede as my avatar, if you'd like I can attach a pic of me in my Crede Jersey. And yes you should have been called a moron for that trade proposal because its riduclous, so I did. Fields and Anderson wouldnt be able to net anything of more value to the Sox than what they bring to this organization in payroll flexibility, a replacement starter next year and a 4.5 tool reserve outfielder. Its actually a very basic concept and outside of your xbox/8th grade world, its pretty much basic business 101. You and your Johnny come lately Crede Crew nametag can continue to try and gloat for arguments you didnt take part in, nor added any real value, the rest of us will sit over here and be happy that not only is our team winning, but we have a decent plan for replacing players moving forward with talented youth, and will have the options to continue to improve the team year over year. -

QUOTE (SoxWS05 @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 08:12 AM) Great thread (title at least) and I'm proud to see so many of you eat crow for your harsh words against Crede this off season. As a proud member of "Crede's crew" I'm happy for him (to say the least), I think the Sox should start shopping a Fields/Anderson combo for a Harden/Lincecum type pitcher and get a deal done with the south side's favorite timely hitter. First of all, there is nobody eating crow on anything, its 7 games in. Also we are all sox fans, nobody wants him to fail. And that deal would be not only not accepted by sf but it would be moronic for the sox to shop their best young hitter and future 3b and depth at of, and try to sign a player who will be overpriced and will suck payroll flexibility for the sox in the offseason. and I have no idea who you are, so you must be a junior member of his crew. Either way, sometimes it better to read in the background rather than post something like that. -
With all the good feelings about KW right this second, I wouldnt be surprised if he did something to piss everyone off like trade Quentin, Fields and Poreda for someone like Harden. Then insert Jerry Owens into the starting role. Probably wouldnt get it done in that deal, but it would be something that would happen when Kenny makes deals.
-
QUOTE (Texsox @ Apr 8, 2008 -> 05:25 PM) ironic we just traded some pitching. Who? Garland? We won that trade. Gio and DLS, we clearly got the best of that for this team. 30 million and a pitcher like Sabathia on the market=better.

Is college football to the point where kids arent suspended for testing positive for drugs? I didnt know that could happen. I'd still want the Bears to take Manningham. -
