  1. Surprised there wasnt a post on here about Chris Henry punching an 18-year old. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?.../s202418D15.DTL
  2. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Apr 3, 2008 -> 05:31 PM) Ozzie has to play Quentin regularly for him to prove anything. True, but doesnt he have like 5 more years to get to where Fuk is? And I think Quentin will be starting for this team by the end of the season. His bat and glove are too good to keep on the bench.
  3. To put it in perspective as well, Cueto is only 22 years old. He has the type of arm that dominates a division. If the Reds can pitch, they can win that division for sure. Right now their top two can probably competed with the division fav's Cubs and Brewers. Harang and Arroyo are solid NL starters, and if Cueto can pitch like he did today, they have probably the best 1-2-3 in the division, Fogg is the #4 which isnt horrible in the NL, and Volquez who was the top guy in the Rangers system brings up the rear with a mid 90's sinker and a plus change.
  4. Did anyone see this kid pitch today? There are highlights on MLB.com if you missed it. 7.0 IP 1 hit 1 ER 10k's 0bb He's flat out nasty. If the Reds have Cueto, Volquez and Bailey get even NEAR their potentials, they could take that division for a few years.
  5. No doubt in my mind Quentin proves more valuable. Fuk is already going towards the wrong side of 30.
  6. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Apr 3, 2008 -> 05:00 PM) All I'm going to say is...Coop (and Buehrle) will fix him. This is a smart kid listening to the veterans on the team. If Floyd can do the same, they are going to be better than expected...but will still take some lumps this year. On Floyd. It seems to me like he has bigger hands, I wonder if he has ever flirted with a splitty or a forkball?
  7. QUOTE(Jordan4life @ Apr 3, 2008 -> 03:50 PM) Will happily eat my crow regarding John Danks. I didn't think he had a chance in hell to hold the Tribe down. I didn't see the game today. How did the new cutter look? Check out his GF/FB ratio.
  8. QUOTE(Wanne @ Apr 3, 2008 -> 03:30 PM) There's a guy on the Rangers ESPN board (LarryLegend) that still to this day is b****ing and moaning about the Danks trade.... He went on to say: "Good news for the Rangers, though... I hear Brandon McCarthy might be ready to throw on flat ground in a month." Danks right now, even if we doesnt have the same results, looks to me like a player that can have a long successful career. He has the type of motion that appears to be repeatable and not max effort, his delivery seems to be decent. He also has the competitive nature that I like and the fact that he went out this offseason and learned a new pitch that would help his game, thats just phenomenal to me. How many pitchers do you see do that nowadays? I have liked Danks from the moment I saw him in a Sox uni, and my man crush gets better the more I see how he prepares and how he adjusts to the league.
  9. Danks threw a nice game and all, but check out cuetos line, jesus
  10. Is there any doubt that Alexei should be the one to go to AAA? He's not ready. Both Quentin and BA should be in the lineup today
  11. QUOTE(joesaiditstrue @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 08:01 PM) man, you take homeruns away from our offense and this is what you get Like last game?
  12. Carmona's heavy ball is just too much for us in this weather.
  13. QUOTE(daa84 @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 07:57 PM) THRILLED with 2-4? i dont care how bad you think we are, but if you are thrilled to be 2-4 thats sad...that means you are basically expecting 0-6, happy if 1-5 and thrilled if 2-4...thats some low expectations Starting out with road games against the reigning division champs, then back to a the team that was in the world series the year before. Its not the easiest road.
  14. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 07:55 PM) If we lose today or if we go back home at 2-4, please, please, please, no one say IT'S EARLY. Games the first week in April count the same as those in September. We are not good enough to be below .500 to end April. We would be tied with the Tigers.
  15. Thank god for Crede getting a hit, the bottom of the order was looking like a black hole. We need Quentin and BA in there at some point.
  16. And all the non-tech people run for the doors....... SSI, do you do alot of your own coding and dev internally?
  17. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 1, 2008 -> 11:46 AM) Having "user interaction' is hardly a hack challenge. Its a valid security concern, but these hack challenges are a joke. They are usually funded by the competing companies research association. Its like these "white papers" that come out from some of these shell research groups that are funded by either Apple or Micrsooft. I guess we should just ignore the 5 million or so Windows machines out on the internet controlled in several botnets. Each operating system has its issues, and default settings without patches they are all meat. As a person who monitors internet egress traffic and manages an NSM. I can tell you that the "user interaction" malware install is something that everybody runs into. Hackers are exploiting websites now, not to get data from it ( except for the Chinese, they do want your Intellectual Property) but to get you to install their malware. Hell the newest one is the ad's. ADs are sold by companies that act as the middle man. They dont know exactly that they are selling. But just target it to a company based on some basic criteria. A few lines of code and you can redirect anyone anywhere. Soxtalk has seen this itself. They want your PC more than the site. Why, they don't care about you or your data. They want your processing power. You know how much a 500k botnet is to a spammer. How much money a terrorist would pay for a DDoS coming from 100k comcast machines. Its easy, and its hard to trace. Botherders make money on the shear number of PCs that they control. A botnet is a beautiful thing from an architectural standpoint, but from a security standpoint scary. Which NSM do you use? (just so happens this is my wheelhouse)
  18. QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 1, 2008 -> 10:01 AM) It does say a lot that there was demand for Macs that run Vista but not PCs that run Mac OS? Thats because the Mac OS is so clumsy for day to day activities. The interface is so GUI centric and slow, the fact that their PC's come with ONE frickin mouse button, and just not being able to navigate your way around some of the processes makes is less useful than microsoft.

    DHL S****

I actually love DHL. Ive had experiences where they have told me where the truck is so I can meet him somewhere since I needed a package early, their staff at the drop off place is great, and they seem to be on time a majority of the time.
  20. I cant wait to see threads talking about how much we want him back when he pitches well and then no threads at all when he gets beat up.
  21. QUOTE(JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 1, 2008 -> 09:03 PM) I think when Buehrle pitches however, we need Uribe and Anderson out there. Buehrle relies on his defense, and we need all we can get when he pitches. I think we put out the best offenses for Danks and Floyd who will need the run support, and put out our best defense for Buehrle who dosen't strike people out. Probably true, although I still believe BA will bring good offense too.
  22. QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 1, 2008 -> 07:16 PM) Unlike Rock, I believe it is equally fair to hold Fields to that same standard. If neither one of these guys can play to Crede's best, then we've taken a step backwards, and *I* think that is unacceptable. Others may believe it is acceptable. But it seems it's only ok if "their" guy is playing. I don't really care which guy is playing. I would also like to see Fields approach Crede's lifetime BA for one season. That would "prove" something to *me*. If you have a lesser or different standard, that's cool. Use what you feel comfortable with. If my standard bothers you, sorry. Once again proving you havent actually read my posts. Crede's numbers are fairly obvious. He had an outlier season and you think this is what he is capable of every year, its just not statistically the case. And approaching Joe's numbers? Crede career .258 .304 .445 Fields 1/2 season rookie year .244 .308 .480 You have a rookie who improved month over month and already puts up the same numbers as Joe Crede. Once again, his win shares approached that of Crede's best year. And IM still waiting for the names of teams that would trade their starting 3B for Crede. 2005 was a great year and all, but get off this guys jock. Would you all be clamoring for Pedro Feliz to stay on this team, because thats basically the type of player Crede is.
  23. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Apr 1, 2008 -> 11:51 AM) I didn't hear any of it yesterday, but less farmer is always better. Farmer is absolutely terrible. I hate his opinions his delivery and the fact that he acts like he was a great player once upon a time.
  24. QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 1, 2008 -> 06:11 PM) No argument to make. There is no definition of "proof". I think he had a very nice rookie campaign, but still has some playing to do before he has proven himself as a mlb player. Others believe they have seen all they need to to anoint him a mlb player. To think there is some definitive argument to be made is hilarious. So according to Rock, Fields has nothing left to prove. I will accept that you have seen enough for your judgment. It would be stupid of me to argue that you need more proof. Looks a few posts above to see if I think he has anything more to prove, reading is a fundamental aspect of being able to convey your counterpoint, look into it. And the fact that in half a season, his win shares were about that of Crede's best year says alot. So does the fact that offensively he is already to Joe Crede's level if not better. How about objectively? In ST he hit better and fielded better than Crede did. Still waiting on those teams that would want Crede over their starter. He is just not that good of a player.
