  1. QUOTE(joesaiditstrue @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 05:22 PM) this is a no brainer, wasserman. if your starting rotation is having problems with one or more pitchers going more than 5 innings without getting totally abused, needing a longman to come in for relief on those days, or a "spot starter incase someone gets injured or simply can't do their job", then your team is already done for the year, especially when you're relying on masset to be that person to spot start or go long innings Not true at all. Rain delays, a starter having a bad day, getting hit by a line drive. There are TONS of reasons that you may need a long man. Sometimes you want to burn a game so you can be at full strength next game. When you have relievers with a history of injuries, and your pen is full of specialists, you need someone to flat out eat innings. Is Masset the guy? No, but we need someone to do it.
  2. QUOTE(Pants Rowland @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 04:36 PM) I liked getting Freddy but thought KW gave up too much, in particular Olivo. For some reason, Ozzie did not care for Olivo and to be honest, his career really never blossomed the way I thought it would. I thought Reed was the next Mike Cameron, guess not.
  3. QUOTE(The Beast @ Mar 27, 2008 -> 05:02 PM) Societies view of beauty is very shallow these days. I know when I was overhearing some individuals on our floor talking about some girls the other day, they described her curves and how orange her skin was. It is pathetically sad that this is how some people find beauty to be today. To be honest, my girlfriend doesn't do any of this make-up crap and to me still looks beautiful. I've always loved her eyes and smile, that's what made her beautiful to me, she doesn't need make-up or to fix her hair or wear skanky clothing to appeal to me. I just wish that other gentlemen would see true beauty without having things to do with the body, the altering of skin and the excessive use of make up. No wonder eating disorders are huge in this country---it is actually sickening to see some of these girls at school, some have such skinny arms and are purely orange that it makes me wonder what they looked like without all of the crap on. Im with you. I like the natural beauty and honestly, the quality of the girl's heart really affect me as well. Ive dated plenty of attractive females that were just awful on the inside, and have never been as satisfied as I have finding a girl that I believe to be a knockout, but also is one of those people that everyone loves and truly has a great heart. And on the boob job front, in FLA boob jobs are VERY common.
  4. QUOTE(daa84 @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 04:19 PM) where is the page, rock? edited, sorry.
  5. Alot of the trades that happened after 94 were horrible. Black Jack, Raines. Garcia was a great trade though, many of us were kinda upset, whoops!
  6. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 09:04 AM) Upper level Indiana HS basketball is as good as anywhere else in the country. Basketball is religion in most of the state. In lots of towns, it is all they have. Good, cause Matta has been recruiting heavily in Indiana and looks to be pulling down the top player for 2010.
  7. Thank god I dont have to see Bruce Pearl's ugly mug on tv anymore, or his team of "i dont know how to wear handbands correctly" players.
  8. Ozzie He says OBP is most important at the leadoff spot, speed is just a bonus. He mentions BA in CF, and also talks about Alexei. Good stuff and better than reading all the speculation on this site. Ok so I cant figure out how to get the link to work so here is the page, the video is down near the bottom called Ozzie's take on 08 roster http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news/artic...sp&c_id=cws
  9. QUOTE(Princess Dye @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 09:40 AM) didnt realize... masset has never really done all that well at AAA, let alone the MLB level. I think its hilarious that someone who uses statistics to prove her point also ignores them when suggesting MacDougal as a long reliever.
  10. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 27, 2008 -> 09:52 PM) Well consider it from the Giants P.O.V. They almost traded Rios for Linecum in the off-season. And sure Rios is more of a sure thing, but Fields would be a cornerstone in that lineup for at least the next 5 seasons. They didnt almost do anything, and Rios right now is alot better of a player than Josh Fields, and only a year older.
  11. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 27, 2008 -> 07:06 PM) Hey, if Crede produces like he did in 4 months of 2005 and all of 2006, and we can re-sign him, do it. Then you can trade Fields for say Tim Linecum. That's the only scenario where I can see it feasible though, and Crede would have to fire Bora$$. Well, the only scenario where ANY team trades a great young arm for Fields is on XBOX.
  12. QUOTE(Felix @ Mar 27, 2008 -> 06:15 PM) Moving Fields to 1B would destroy all of his value. At third, he's special because he has a lot of power potential. At 1B, he's an average power player, which is his best attribute by far. Ugh, Crede is just not good. How many teams in the MLB would want him over their starter right now?
  13. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Mar 27, 2008 -> 06:02 PM) It is amazing how we see two different people. Joe is getting his timing back after being out almost a full season. There are others performing in ST at as low an average as Joe. There is absolutely no reason to criticize or minimize Joe Crede. I hope we do sign him and move Fields to IB or LF Gross idea. we wont, thank god.
  14. I like that Fields actually hits the ball to the right side without weakly popping it up to the 2nd basemen.l
  15. 0 percent chance we bring him back. IN fact, he wont last the season.
  16. QUOTE(JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 26, 2008 -> 02:18 PM) The only reason that Uribe is the starting 2B is because the org. dosen't want to rush Ramirez by throwing him into a starting job right out of the gate. I think next season A-ram will be starting SS and Richar at 2B
  17. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 27, 2008 -> 11:22 AM) Honestly...based on Anderson's performance in 06 in CF...no they won't be able to cover comparable ground. Only because Anderson was just THAT GOOD. From what I saw, if you put Brian Anderson in CF, you have hands down the CF with the best range in baseball right now unless he's lost a step or something. Best range in baseball? Thats a bit of a stretch, does he even have the best range in his own division?
  18. QUOTE(WCSox @ Mar 27, 2008 -> 11:23 AM) Unlike his predecessor, who sat on his ass and did nothing when the Sox were in the playoff hunt back in '96. Kenny has a number of well-documented flaws, but his aggressive approach has been overwhelmingly positive for the Sox. But what about jeremy reed and Mike Morse?
  19. QUOTE(Brian @ Mar 26, 2008 -> 06:01 PM) Justin Boren, who started for Michigan on the offensive line last year as a sophomore, has left the team. People speculating because he thought RichRod's spring practice was too hard. Aw, poor baby. See ya. And Boren's statement. The only people speculating its because practice was too hard are the people trying to feel better about their top lineman leaving, and possibly paying his own way to play for their rival, and bringing his little brother with him. This is a kid who was a UM football legacy and was recruited PERSONALLY by Bo.
  20. QUOTE(scenario @ Mar 26, 2008 -> 09:47 PM) Do you know what strikes me as funny? A month ago nobody would have been surprised if Ozzie chose Swisher to play CF. In fact, it was pretty much a foregone conclusion. KW and Ozzie have been saying it since they acquired him. And a month ago, 99% of posters would have volunteered to drive Brian to the airport to ship his *** out of town. But Brian had a good month in spring training and all of a sudden, Swisher in CF is a horrible idea; and Brian not being handed CF is a travesty. Interesting. Even better when you look back at 06 and people clamoring for Jerry Owens to get a shot in CF, now he's the anti-christ
  21. Garbage innings are underrated. If a starter gives up 10 runs in the first two innings and throws 80 pitches, we need someone to come in and either keep us in the game, or just take up those innings so we can reset and go at the team the next day. Without Masset, we dont have anyone that can do that. All the other long guys are in AAA in case of an injury to our starting staff.
  22. QUOTE(Hatchetman @ Mar 26, 2008 -> 02:37 PM) I'm still waiting for Canseco to be proven wrong about anything. exactly, he has been dead on so far.
  23. BA better not be in LF. I bet its Quentin in LF though. It freaking better be.
  24. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Mar 26, 2008 -> 06:04 PM) Excellent post Steve Once again Guillen proves he's a liar. Fields has the edge going into spring training, performs better than Crede, gets sent down. Why can't Fields at least stay on the roster? He would be a perfect fill-in at DH against lefties. Yeah, cause its Guillen who makes the roster decisions. Why keep him up here when he could get everyday at bats in the minors?
