Slumming it at the Urinal in the Desert
RockRaines replied to knightni's topic in 2008 Season in Review
QUOTE(flavum @ Mar 22, 2008 -> 05:31 PM) Uribe --homer with 2 out in the 9th. 5-4 Sox going to the bottom. Keep Uribe. Dont let him tease you, he'll be swinging from his heels in a week. -

So much for Javy's solid outing. -

QUOTE(sf_soxfan @ Mar 22, 2008 -> 04:34 PM) Santo is insufferable...,my god And he has a fan base that loves him and despises announcers that are "homers" -
Beasley MAY be the best player in the country this year, but I dont believe him to be on the same level as players who are horrible mismatches offensively like Carmelo and Durant, and doesnt have the same physical presence of guys like Oden. He seems like a tweener on the college level to me. I could be wrong.

QUOTE(flavum @ Mar 22, 2008 -> 04:01 PM) I think Anderson gets in a comfort zone when he plays in the state of Arizona, where he is from. When he gets in the big stadiums, in cold weather, I expect him to fail again. I'm rooting for the guy, but he's going to have to do it in April for me to believe he's turned a corner. Heres the thing, his swing is totally different that it was, and so is his approach.

He'll prob end up in the bullpen as he really has one pitch, though that pitch is extremely heavy.

BA is on fire this spring. His approach is very nice. Javy having a good outing so far. Uribe once again fooling us into believing he's a good hitter. -
You're right, he cant a lick.

QUOTE(dwalteroo @ Mar 22, 2008 -> 12:52 AM) I like Brian Anderson. I watched him hit 2 HRs off Felix, and thought he was the next big thing and then some. He still could be - he has a ton of natural talent, and his defense is top notch. But he needs to learn how to handle anything inside. Big time. His swing is 100 percent different from that game now as well. He's a much stronger hitter IMO, and his bat stays in the zone longer and has more power to the gaps.

Wow, my bracket blew up a little tonight. 2 12-13 matchups, pretty sweet. -

QUOTE(lvjeremylv @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 08:50 PM) Nor will I. It's practice. Although, after making a comeback the way they did today, it would have been nice if Ozzie would have put a major league pitcher in there to close it out. Even though it's practice, giving games away isn't something the Sox need practice doing. They perfected that last season. I like that they are practicing doing the right things in game situations like moving players over and hitting the sac fly. -

QUOTE(lvjeremylv @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 08:21 PM) Does the catcher dropping a swing & miss strike 3 count as advancing the runner? Yeah, obviously you havent gotten to the part in the game when he does it. -

Theres one of the ones im talking about, its like a little slurve that breaks in on righties and falls outside on lefties. That thing is nasty. His change also dives in on righties at times. When he figures out how to use all of those to hit some bad bats and confuse hitters, hes going to be good. I just hope that happens. -
Depends on both the type of urinal as well as where I am. If im alone in a bathroom I may step back for distance. If its in a corp setting, im flowing right down the wall to minimize spash on the pants and shoes. If im at Wrigley (once a year) I aim right for the guys shoes next to me.

I believe Hawk already calls him the Cuban Flash though, or just "The Flash" at times.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 07:12 PM) Maybe we should just wait a month in to the season for Hawk to come up with one? Sexy Lexy it is then. Maybe Al-Ram
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 06:50 PM) And what happens when the Crosstown series roll around and no one has a clue who people are referring to? so a few people may be confused 3 games out of the year? Big deal. Osuna/Ozuna will keep people busy in the mean time.

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 06:44 PM) O no, let's stop this s*** right now. I don't want to start getting confused about 'which' A-Ram we're talking about, because then it'll lead to us all putting numbers next to names just like in basketball and football and I'm tired, tired, f***ing tired of LT2, CP3, and I do not want to be figuring out just who the hell A-Ram5 is. Let's stick to A-Rod, O-Cab, and F-Her and be done with it. DONE. Pretty easy, A-Ram on the White Sox is Alexei Ramirez. Theres only one on this team. How is that hard?

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 05:57 PM) he pitched around some jams, which was nice to see. That curve is very effective against lefties. the fastball...not so much. I like that he has a couple of different curves. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 05:50 PM) A Sox executive told my friend that Pudge went back to his former "trainer". Its a bit strange. -
I dont understand how anyone can compare A-ram to Pablo. Pablo wishes he had that gap power. His wrists arent half as strong as A-ram's

Im not trying to accuse or anything here, just spit ballin, but does anyone find it strange that I-Roid is leading the league in HR so far? This is a guy who hit 11 all season last year. -

Ova. Coulda won if we put an actual pitcher in the game. Floyd with a good outing though, encouraging even against a light hitting team. 6IP 6H 2ER 4k -

Official Recruiting Thread II
RockRaines replied to greasywheels121's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(thedoctor @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 09:05 AM) i didn't have a problem with what rr did. football recruiting is much more aggressive than basketball recruiting and it is commonplace for the process to go right up until signing day whether or not someone has verballed somewhere. and as has been mentioned before, tiller has done the exact same thing before, so he should shut his pie hole. I dont really respect a coach that would call a recruit and tell him he's leaving his job before the coach tells his team. Of course its even funnier that said recruit just went to his biggest rival.
