  1. A-ram crushes one in the gap for a sac fly. 3-2 SOX!!
  2. Oh Bougeois I wish you were a better fielder, your speed and grinderishness would be so popular on the south side.
  3. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 05:21 PM) And importantly, it also only works for people we don't like, like Floyd. People who liked the Dotel signing felt free to brush off his disastrous outing yesterday, and they feel free to brush off a good outing by Floyd today. But bad outings by Floyd...now that's where you learn what you have. How bout the Thome is finished posts from the first few weeks of ST?
  4. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 05:21 PM) I'm just pointing out that the same things you are saying about Fields you must of been saying about Crede 6 years ago. That he's only going to get better, blah, blah, blah, and now you say he sucks. BTW, throw out last year because he was hurt and Crede had been trending upward with average and slugging in 2005 and 2006. Yes, most people say that about heralded prospects when they first come up and have potential, welcome to the world of baseball, I didnt know you were new. I will state this again, just in case your posturing missed it. Fields has shown in his 100 games last season that he can produce at the same level if not a bit higher than Crede's CAREER numbers. He improved each month, and since his track record is that of improvement at a high rate and that he hasnt hit his "ceiling" yet, he is a higher value than Crede right now. He has the POTENTIAL to be a better player than Crede for less money for a longer time. Not only that, but his win shares last year in a short time equal about what Crede was putting up over a full season. Fields is the best bet for the Sox now, and moving forward, and Crede cant even get a job with teams that dont have viable 3B candidates.
  5. QUOTE(AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 05:15 PM) Preseason. Talk to me in May. Ah, it only works when he's BAD in spring training to determine we should be worried, good outings must be taken with a grain of salt. OK.
  6. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 05:13 PM) Than what do you base your enthusiasm about Carlos Quentin on? His 170 AB in 2006 and minor league numbers? It can't be his 2007. 200 AB in 2002 with Crede's minor league track record, he was MVP in AA and AAA, and now you think he sucks. Do you get off comparing apples and oranges? Are you going to continue to bring in irrelevant player's name to try and posture. I have Crede's MAJOR LEAGUE NUMBERS to determine what he is as a player, that how I can determine that he sucks. Is there a team in the majors that would trade their 3B for Crede?
  7. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 05:09 PM) I'm not comparing them, I'm just giving you an example of someone who SO a lot but also BB's a lot. I don't think you can compare Josh Fields to anyone yet. Not with a 1/2 a season of major leagues under his belt. Josh will never walk alot, he will prob top out around 50-60. His highest minor league OBP over a full season was .379 and that was 136 k's and 54 bb. It helped he hit .305.
  8. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 05:02 PM) No 2002. 200 ABs. That would have been plenty of MLB at bats for you to form your opinion. It only took 2 appearances for you to hop on the Lance Broadway bandwagon, and you appear to be high on Ramirez with about 40 spring training at bats. HAHAHAHA. Maybe you should bring my positive comments on haeger into the discussion. s***, lets bring the first 5 min of a test drive I did with a BMW if we are going to walk down that path. Once again, 2003 when Crede finally played full time, he performed about at what his career has been with a few years that have been outliers. Everyone including scouts expected him to break out, and up to this point, it really hasnt happened consistently Of course thats how baseball is, and the smart money is on Josh improving his numbers, considering he improved every month he played last season, has shown an extremely expedited time line on development for a player that wasn't all that polished when drafted, and has already shown he can equal the production of the current incumbent for less money for for much higher upside. Its a no-brainer.
  9. QUOTE(daa84 @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 04:59 PM) the point is, you want to judge fields on last years numbers only, just as you cant judge crede on last years numbers alone...you cant judge fields on last years....with crede, you are right, there is a long career that allows us to at least take an educated guess at his year this year....with fields its harder, but at very worst, it looks as if it will rival credes year, if not be better Right now Fields can produce offensively as good as Joe Crede's career has been. He's younger with a larger upside, its really no comparison. But you will always have the nay-sayers just like in the first page of the thread where everyone was talking s*** about Floyd and then he goes out and puts up a solid outing.
  10. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 04:55 PM) Would you have had the same opinion about Crede in 2002? That he had nowhere to go but up? Dont you mean 2003 when he actually got more than 50 games and 200 ab's?
  11. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 04:53 PM) I will go on. I never said Crede was perfect, but you guys go on and on about Fields. The only thing he's shown he can do on the major league level is hit homers. He's not an OBP machine, you give him credit for having more walks than Joe Crede. What's so impressive about that?If Crede sucks like I've read numerous times, Fields must suck as well. I've never said Fields sucks, but my opinion is he's Ron Kittle Jr. offensively. Crede has had a career of those numbers, Fields hasnt even had an entire season and has replicated them, he had nowhere to go but up, we already know what Crede does.
  12. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 04:31 PM) Yes, because his OBP was still only .308 And his rookie campaign showed his OBP is ALREADY at Crede's
  13. QUOTE(AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 04:01 PM) Gavin as our 5th starter is going to be a huge mistake. He stunk it up in Philly (I've seen about 95% of his starts/appearances with Philly) and still hasn't even improved from that. I hope our 5th starter isn't on the team yet because if so, it's going to be a long season every 5th day. Pretty good outing from him today
  14. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 08:49 AM) That was my thought as well. Bourgeois is a switch hitter I think? (might be wrong). So you could maybe have a situation where you have Ozuna and Bourgeois platoon at 2nd, and then you work Ramirez in there a little, and also at SS and CF (as the mega utility man). Uribe to the O's is still what I see happening. Although teams such as the Royals, Dodgers etc. could have some interest. And that's if we don't trade for either Ellis or Roberts. So a lot of scenarios still in play here. With as raw as A-ram is, he's still a better fielder than Bourgeois.
  15. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Mar 20, 2008 -> 04:50 PM) He's not God. And he doesn't run a sub 4.3 either. Unless you are talking about the 30-yard dash maybe. Let's not treat him as such. I corrected myself to say that it was a 4.3 And he's the best player in the nation, he's going to see playing time, hes a freak. Hows the UM QB position shaping up these days?
  16. He breaks down about as much as Mark Prior and Kerry wood without the talent.
  17. QUOTE(Brian @ Mar 20, 2008 -> 10:27 AM) Our crooked booster is dead. Your crooked coach is still employed. Why so defensive? So so bitter.
  18. God dammit, I hate my bracket, I have 3 #1's and a #2 going to the final four and I cant figure out any other way to mix them up. The field looks top heavy to me.
  19. QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Mar 20, 2008 -> 12:04 AM) Ranger is from the STL... a Cardinal Fan. And I am pretty sure he is a Sox and Cardinal Fan now. I disagree because I know his group of friends, but ill let it be.
