  1. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 01:20 PM) Its Soxtalk, give it some time, it will happen. 5-15 posts it will be said. so far he is a one year wonder, he has a 5.0 ERA, we should trade him now, he is a soft tosser, he walks alot of guys, and his contract is a bad one.
  2. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 01:19 PM) Hampton wasn't a one year wonder. Brown was coming off a good season when traded to NY. Benson had a decent year last season. All their situations are different from Garland's, IMO. Yeah, I would take a 27 year old Garland over any of those guys.
  3. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 01:16 PM) Soft-tosser means he does not strike out many guys compared to walks not velocity, has nothing to do with outing he is our 5th starter nothing more. Uh no, soft tosser means no velocity. Hence the word "soft." And he doesnt walk alot of people at all, so I have no idea what that is supposed to mean. Basically you dont know much about him, but you would like to criticize someone, and he is your easiest target, huh?
  4. QUOTE(zenryan @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 01:13 PM) Garland a one year wonder? Nope.
  5. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 01:12 PM) he's been a liability lets trade him then.
  6. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 01:09 PM) I decent season if you think Garland is some upper tier AL starter you are fooling yourself, he is a soft-tosser who had a career year. He is a .500 starter at best take of the blinders on JG. Soft tosser huh? I didnt know low 90's fastball/sinker pitchers were soft tossers? 2 bad outings and you abandon all hope for a player. Man im glad you arent affiliated with the white sox in any way.
  7. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 01:08 PM) Who cares, were in the middle of our second catastrophic collapse in one week. hahahahaha, who knew that going for the sweep and facing a comeback in the final game of the series would be called catastrophic?
  8. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 01:05 PM) No, I don't think you can say that in week 2 of the season. Jon Garland is probbaly my favorite Sox pitcher to watch when he is going good. The guy can be a phenomenal pitcher. But, when he is bad it stinks. But, then all bad games stink I guess. He relies on hitters getting themselves out. He gives up alot of contact. Sometimes the hits are going to find holes. This is what happened today. Against KC, he pitched very well, then the defense really failed him.
  9. QUOTE(Felix @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 01:02 PM) Obviously he wasn't perfect. Come on.. get with the program! He also never closed out games on route to a World Series CHampionship finishing off a 1-0 victory.
  10. Good K by BMAC but hes not a strikeout pitcher.....
  11. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 12:56 PM) I'll stand up and take my medicine on that one...after these two outings it is well deserved. I'm opposed to the bench Garland threads, but I wouldn't be as opposed to a knowledgeable discussion on if resigning Jon to that big contract was in the best interest of the White Sox. Oh come on, I said from the first inning he didnt have his good stuff today, it happens. If he comes out his next 2 starts and pitches well, would you say he is back to his old self?
  12. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 12:54 PM) This is correct! However, I am just concerned with Jon Garland. To give up 9 runs in KC and nopw 7 or whatever in Detroit in about 5 innings when the guy was lights out last year makes you worried he has some arm problem. Or maybe just a bad outing?
  13. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 12:51 PM) ^^^ Exactly. Why fry the pen if you don't have to? You have to expect garland to get one out in that situation. The best part is going to be the yahoo's who start the "bench garland" threads.
  14. QUOTE(rudylaw @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 12:45 PM) People keep talking about how they are concerned with Jenks, I am a hell of a lot more concerned with Jon. 2 starts 20 hits. I hope last year was not a fluke. SO what? He has had 2 starts. Last start he looked dominant for several innings before the defense fell apart. Im not worried at all. It was apparant from pitch #1 that he didnt have his good stuff today. It happens.
  15. Garland didnt have his good stuff from pitch #1. He wasnt around the strike zone much and struggled a little. IM not worried about him at all. He has the ability, and I think that his next outing will be a good one. Also here is some good comments from the detroit tigers board "ts just all of their pitchers had career years last year... not to mention they won so many games off of flukes... They also won close to 1/2 their games by 1 or 2 runs. It was rediculous how much luck they had... this year we can see whether last year was a fluke or not.... I dont expect them to do better than 5-6 games over .500 this year..."
  16. POds really needs to tweak his swing, its not producing line drives.
  17. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 12:35 PM) Anderson cant get the job done..... :headshake he did the right thing, went the other way.
  18. 2 triples for Cintron, wow. Making a case to play more at SS.
  19. Crede with a double, I really wish AJP would have walked.
  20. QUOTE(HeGone33 @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 12:23 PM) Ladies and Gentlemen I present to you the return of Judy Garland. would you like to bet on that?
  21. Jon is getting behind almost every hitter already, 25 pitches.
