  1. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 08:58 AM) Sharp - Toews - Hossa Dano - Anisimov - Kane Panarin - Tuevo - Morin Shaw - Kruger - ? (Dejardins maybe) Plus we have the luxury of checking out some of the younger guys to fill in those slots for size etc. The defense is my main concern. Not sure what we are going to line up with there.
  2. Anisimov extension, 5 years 4.55 AAV, Kicks in next summer. 22.75 total.
  3. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 08:36 AM) It must really suck to trust your career to an agent, and have that agent play chicken with a front office and lose. Id fire that agent before he gets a taste of the big money deal. Bowman said they were never even close, thats bad management if the kid wanted to stay
  4. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 08:21 AM) Dano isn't some player you hope develops down the road. He is already an NHL player who had 21 points in his first 35 games. For the Hawks to have kept Saad at 6.5 per year, they would have had to gut the team. So long Shaw, Kruger. There would be no way you could resign Seabrook after this year. They would have been a top heavy team with no depth. Now you lose a really good player, but have great depth and you still have a young team. Yeah Dano is fully expected to produce at or better than Saad in his second year, that's where he's at. Anisimov should slot into the 2C spot for the next several years depending on what the extension is.
  5. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 10:30 PM) I think too much is being made of the Bickell and Sharp rumors at the draft and saying that Bowman screwed up. No-one knows if teams were actually that desperate to get those 2. If you bring back Saad at $6.5M, you probably end up with a situation where you might have to add a 1st round pick to get a team to take Bickell's contract, because other teams know you are backed up against a wall cap wise. That's not exactly good management there. Pittsburgh have missed out on Saad, so maybe they go after Sharp now, who knows, there's probably still a market for him, but at least Bowman has options now, if the package in return isn't good enough, you keep Sharp around. I think everyone needs to wait to see what Anisimov gets re-signed for, it should be a cap friendly enough deal, otherwise I don't think Bowman would have made the trade in the 1st place. Dano seems like a similar sort of prospect to what Saad was a few seasons ago, so it's good cap management you bring in someone at a much lower salary, and not really lose a whole lot in terms of production / potential. Based on their rookie seasons Dano is actually a bit ahead as far as production goes.
  6. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 10:03 PM) I'm almost positive you can't trade player for a year after matching an offer sheet. Yep.
  7. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 09:47 PM) you make a very interesting point. i didn't know it was Pitt and thank for that little tidbit. i really do not agree on the nice package, but hey it is difference of opinions. with the off season still in the beginning, if the hawks matched, then there will be time to address the other situation that was caused by matching the offer or just get the draft picks. Pitt which should be around the #16 pick, and i am basing this on this yrs results. Bowman won 3 SC rings, but he did not assembled the team that was Tallon. Tallon got the first SC ring and it was thru his drafting that made it possible. now like i said last week, this FA situation was going to be tricky, and this will show to me if Bowman is a good GM. so far, it is not looking good. now, Saad is talented, how old was Towes was when he got his big contract, Saad is a special kind of a player. a extremely talented player. he could have easly help this team win more SC's. instead what was the rtn for Saad and a very promising Dman??? this is not even close of an equal rtn. Tevo salary is not up yet, so he is not in this equation. if rumors are to be believed, bowman screwed the pooch on bickell and sharp last week. if one chooses not to believe in the rumors, then how can one believe in a msg from twitter?? again, bowman did some nice move last season for me, which helped in securing the 3rd SC. see, i am giving him credit. So it's this cap crunch that will judge Bowman, not the two other rebuilds he did to win another cup. And I see you aren't factoring future contracts and possible core players into your roadmap, which would be the death of any GM. Maybe you should take a break from Bowman hating and wait until the offseason is over to be frustrated. Just a suggestion.
  8. Marko Dano scored 21 pts in 35 Games with CBJ avg 13:15 TOI and a whopping 0:13 of PP TOI as a 19 year old. Otherwise known as better than Saad his rookie year and much better than TT this year.
  9. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 08:56 PM) it is sooo funny, when you will use this bolded for your point, using it to those so called rumors you post. come on, make up your mind on when you want to refer to a rumor. I honestly don't understand a word of this. Good luck with dealing with this offseason.
  10. You don't want to deal with dreams but you are evaluating a GM based on rumors of deals. Come on man.
  11. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 07:12 PM) Also, from a forwards perspective, if they can bring in this lineup into 2015-2016, they still could be a fun team to watch, with some young players in key positions playing with highly skilled players along side them. Don't think the sky is falling. Dano - Toews - Hossa Panarin - Anisimov - Kane Sharp - Tervainen - Versteeg Desjardins - Kruger - Shaw It's not bad and they can theoretically add someone. I'm still worried about the D though.
  12. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 06:32 PM) I hope Hossa shows him the ropes as a fellow countrymen. As for Saad vs Keith, Rock, you can't compare the two contracts. Keith was signed under the old CBA and it's cap circumvention. If that's the case, might as well ask why Sharp is paid more too and Seabrook when he gets his new deal. Keith has one of the best contracts in the game. I can compare them because the value still holds IMO, and I believe we all believe that Sharp at one time was pretty close to equal value but now thats clearly swapped by quite a bit. I still hold the line that Saad is not worth 6.5 million against the cap.
  13. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 06:35 PM) then look at my link that i posted on nhl restricted offers. also from google and also from wilki.
  14. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 06:30 PM) and what is soo different from my link??? if this is the best you can provide, i am done with you.... keep pretending you know stuff. My information was from the NHL's CBA. But yes, I just made it up. Here's a bunch of links, have fun reading my made up "stuff" http://www.wingingitinmotown.com/2013/6/21...e-3-free-agency http://www.burgundybrigade.com/2014/06/06/...ed-free-agents/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Offer_sheet I even put a Wikipedia link in there for ya. The next thing you should do is walk down to an Apple Store and ask a genius how to use "search"
  15. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 06:27 PM) how bout showing me a link..... i showed you the link on the info where i got my info. where is yours??? Www.google.com Look for something that doesnt reference 2008
  16. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 06:19 PM) He is the key to the deal. He averaged around 13 minutes a game yet was second on the team with a +12 . Smallish excellent 2 way player who fits the Hawks mold and isn't afraid to mix it up in the corners. His production with the BJ's was better than it was in the AHL. Surround him with talent and he produces. You basically hope he turns into a top 6 forward or at least the value of a first round pick.
  17. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 06:22 PM) Signing a restricted free agent to a contract worth over $6,539,062 per year costs a team four first-round draft picks. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Restricted_fr...alifying_offers Seven years ago, yes.
  18. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 06:17 PM) a bridge deal as you said, well that would be up to him and signing the contract.... either way, it would have given the hawks time to make a better deal. either way, if he signed with the other team, 4-1 rounder. FYI SO your four first rounders arent really the case. And the Hawks got back a first round pick who is already scoring in the NHL, and a player they were already targeting to fill a roster hole.
  19. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 06:12 PM) doesn't matter, Keith has sign for an extended contract. Saad scored 23 g and 29 a as a 22 yo Saad was to have slide into Sharp slot, Loosing the dman was a blow. granted the hawks has accumulated a great group of dman next yr, the hawks could have traded Saad in a better deal if Saad signed with the other, rumored team who offered him a contract for the 6.5 mil, then the hawks gets 4 - 1 rounder from that team, or work a better rtn on a trade. Saad wasnt going to sign a one year bridge dea. The Hawks would have lost him or overpaid him. Instead they got a promising young player for him. Its not great to lose a player of his caliber but the Hawks simply could not have paid Saad that much money moving forward.
  20. Right now without anything else being done the Hawks are under the cap by 671,538
  21. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 05:54 PM) 2C - he's a replacement for Richards and fills a pretty big need next year. Sucks to lose Saad, but if Saad was going to sign an offer sheet at 6.5M per year for 6 years, the Hawks can't afford him - regardless of what happens with Bickell and Sharp. Optimistic about what I'm reading re: Dano. 21 points in 35 games last year as a rookie, two way forward, not afraid to play in the corners. Hopefully the Hawks added two useful pieces today... Dano is a very good player with upside. You hate to lose a proven guy like Saad but at his cost, you have to.
  22. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 06:06 PM) after to looking at the whole trade.... i do not like it. Bowman failed in many ways these past 2 weeks. re Anisomnov, how many points did he scored in the past 2 yrs.... can he rebound.... and at 3.5+ mil a yr. Saad had 23 goal, 29 assist and played in 3 seasons with the hawks parent team. re Paliotta, i like him, he has the ability to be a nice piece in the hawks surplus of dman. i just don't see this as a positive trade. Bowman screwed up, big time. Rationalize with me why the Hawks should have paid Saad more than Duncan Keith.
  23. Tracey Myers taks a shot at Saad on twitter "Saad on June 17: The money's going to come and go. To win championships and play on a great team, thats what its all about."
  24. Bowman says they are talking with Anisimov's people about an extension.
  25. Bowman says they were never even close with Saad's camp.
