  1. Badger: I think this captures some of your frustration with BB
  2. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 6, 2012 -> 11:00 AM) That doesn't make me think we're going to get too much in return... Well, would you even deal Viciedo for Gavin Floyd? Who on the Sox would you give up for Floyd? I think that shows how much value he has. Right now we need to package other assets if we want a starting bat.
  3. QUOTE (GoGoSox2k2 @ Dec 6, 2012 -> 10:55 AM) Pure speculation I assume Rock on your end? Or are you hearing that is what the Sox are looking to package in a return? Other than pitching not sure what position we would be looking for now with Keppinger in the fold. The sox would have dealt Floyd yesterday if they could. They dont want him, but need to package him with other talent to get something of impact. Before last year I would have said Danks and Floyd would have been traded for a bat, not we are most likely packing a pen arm+money+something else to fill a lineup hole. And personally, I think this board will be outraged for the time being when they see the return on our players. My only real info is that they are shopping for trades, hard. And our chips are pretty much what you mentioned as well as maybe one of our corner OF'ers. I've heard PK is most likely a deadline trade candidate if ever.
  4. Historically yes, but they'v fallen completely off the map recently. They were a top 2 SEC team for sure, much more important than Florida for example. You need a rockstar coach and I really thought they may get one.
  5. QUOTE (rowand's rowdies @ Dec 6, 2012 -> 10:48 AM) Granderson for Floyd, Thornton, and Quintana? Let the Yankees add pitching and forget about the mistake they made by letting Quintana go and let them add bullpen help. We might get something else back in this deal, too. Thoughts? I think you have a package figured out although not sure Granderson is the target. If he was I would say there would be an OF getting dealt as well.
  6. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 5, 2012 -> 06:15 PM) You know what Detroit needs? The Heimlich
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 5, 2012 -> 06:18 PM) Now Floyd and AJ become the next question marks to deal with...and one would imagine Thornton and Crain, with their salaries being somewhat similar to what Keppinger will be making. I dont see any of those 3 being on the White Sox next season.
  8. QUOTE (farmteam @ Dec 5, 2012 -> 05:42 PM) Care to elaborate? They asked him about his "we dont want to be the SEC" comment last year when he got butthurt about Urban talking to recruits and his response was he was just playing it up to the Big Ten crowd. WTF does that mean dude. He also hit upon losing assistants due to the Big Ten not paying a good enough salary, that IS true and was one thing Meyer asked for specifically when joining OSU, however Bielema's assistants left because he of a step up and according to Wisconsin fans they hated his guts.
  9. QUOTE (farmteam @ Dec 5, 2012 -> 04:38 PM) If he's still there by this time five years from now, I will be shocked. Hejust had a superdouche comment at his press conference.
  10. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 5, 2012 -> 03:06 PM) I wish we wouldn't have signed Peavy so we could just sell right now. I would say our young pitching is attracting a crowd, package that with a nice pen arm and maybe a halfway decent prospect or a starting OF'er and you may have something there.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 5, 2012 -> 03:59 PM) There were similiar reports about Youk being annoyed by the bad attendance. Good thing he's considering the Indians then, he'll get used to playing in front of tens and tens of fans. I dont buy he said that, sounds like sour grapes Red Sox fans to me.
  12. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Dec 5, 2012 -> 02:48 PM) Is there a large domino about to tip over? Looking at the lineup posted above, is this a roster that is one or two keppinger-type plugs away from competing for a World Series or even a division crown? Thats the exact questions that the Sox front office is dealing with right now and I believe that they dont think they have enough.
  13. Badger on your posts above, I am hearing his assistants that left and even the ones he has now hate his guts. I am thinking he saw the writing on the wall and wanted to follow the money for both him and a staff he puts together himself. Also with Michigan getting back and OSU coming off sanctions it wasnt a bad time to jump.
  14. Very close to Chaveztalk.com again, dammit Once again as the dominoes start to fall how excited will everyone be that things are finally happening?
  15. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Dec 5, 2012 -> 09:24 AM) I know there was extensive talk about Keurig's in general but does anyone have recommendations on specific models? I got the platinum from Costco for a few reasons: 1. It was the only model they carried 2. Costco has a lifetime return policy so see #1 3. You can choose alot of different sizes and temps and it has a large water tank I just made a cup of Starbucks house blend which cost me roughly 40 cents. It was awesome.
  16. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 09:57 PM) I know, its just a bad spot for me because no matter what I say it sounds like sour grapes. I can pick it up for you, I've hated that prick, although loved our record against him.
  17. I think he'll be gone in 3 years. However they will give him alot more money to play with and to pay his assistants with than Wisconsin was going to. That was one of Urban's big gripes before he took the OSU job was that the Big Ten doesnt pay assistants like the SEC does.
  18. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 04:06 PM) I thought you said it was a good hire. I liked Beckman too. They were both great assistants under Tressel. However since time has gone by its become pretty clear that Tressel had alot more to do with his program than many thought. He was a control freak.
  19. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 03:47 PM) As an Illinois guy, I will be anxiously watching to see whom Alvarez hires, because I expect it to further underline the sigificant disparity between those programs. Obviously, the successor isn't going to make three consecutive Rose Bowls, but somehow I don't expect the Badgers to miss too much of a beat. Purdue essentially just hired a Beckman-caliber coach
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 03:38 PM) The Yankees seem like they would be a good fit for him. A lot of ego's in that clubhouse, and it never really seems to bother them. Problem is that AJ is a loud mouth ego vs ones that keep to themselves. To me this is a bad idea from their end. I have a feeling we wont miss him as much as we think.
  21. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 03:38 PM) The part that makes no sense is that in the SEC recruiting is really important and that hasnt been Bielema's strength. He was already being paid top 20 money at Wisconsin, I just do not believe he is a top 20 coach. There have to be 20 guys better than him. Recruiting is very dirty in the SEC, the exact thing he got mad at last season. Purdue hires Hazell, very good hire for them. Now you have 3 Tressel coaching tree HC's in the conference.
  22. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 03:32 PM) If youve read this board you know that I dont love Bielema. So Im kind of shocked. I just thought Bielema was smart enough to take his $3mil check for the next 20 years and be a Wisconsin legend. Who knew that for an extra few mil hed risk it all to try and coach at Arkansas. Maybe he thinks he can rule that side of the SEC? Not sure other than the HUGE raise. The coaching and talent pool he will face in the SEC is a hell of alot deeper than the Big Ten.
  23. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 03:26 PM) It's about time for Tennessee to wrap things up with Jon Gruden... But seriously, I'm guessing we'll find out tomorrow. Strong, Gundy, or Fedora seem to be the likely choices. Strong would be a good hire. I am surprised and happy that Tom Herman hasnt been mentioned for more openings this offseason. I dont want to lose him or Ed Warriner
  24. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 09:49 AM)
  25. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 03:17 PM) The good news for Wisconsin is that Bielema never killed it at recruiting. So they can come sniffing around, but literally the best Wisconsin has for next year is 4*s. Even if the class falls apart Wisconsin seemingly does better with unknown walk-ons. True story, I just looked over your 2013 list and not much there unless Iowa wants to grab a few midwestern OL. Mixed reactions on the Badger board, alot of anger some saying he peaked. Strange times. The entire conference is almost completely turned over from a coaching standpoint outside of Iowa over the last several years. Weird.
