Fields playing worse in Minors than in the Majors
RockRaines replied to DaTank's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Jeremy @ Aug 19, 2009 -> 02:49 PM) Josh is up to .302/.380/.556 so I guess this thread was every bit as premature as it seemed when it was started. Nice to see Josh put up Gordon-like numbers in the minors. -
QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 19, 2009 -> 04:08 PM) Viciedo is Konerko's heir apparent unless something happens to his development. Or he's traded. But thats the way I feel as well. With Flowers starting to improve behind the plate, Viciedo is our next 1B.

QUOTE (beck72 @ Aug 19, 2009 -> 03:22 PM) I'm not too down on Alexei for his getting caught when the ball dropped. That happens when no one expects the ball to fall. But I am down on him for having a very low baseball IQ. People can point to Alexei being clutch with a few home runs. But his defense has let the sox down far, far too many times this year, that hasn't always showed up as errors [ie not turning DP's due to his being out of position, not coming in hard on slow grounders, hurried throws, not stopping throws to 2b from AJ-which almost led to a fight]. It has led to the pitching staff throwing many extra pitches, unearned runs, and in some cases losses. The question going forward is what do they do? Esp. if the "he's young" tag/ label doesn't work next year, and he doesn't improve his defense. If Gordon stays at 3b, his ability to play SS may suffer long term. There isn't an option at 3b, besides Gordon for 2010 [unless by some strange set of circumstances, the sox can get Figgins at a discount-which I don't see happening]. Yet I could see a scenario where the sox move Gordon to SS if Viciedo is ready for 2011. Gordon is our 3B for next year, and probably many after that. He's not going to play SS in the majors. Viciedo probably wont be playing too much of 3B for the Sox if any.

NYC San Diego Denver SLC Dallas Phoenix San Fran NYC is by far my fav, I am looking to move there soon. SF is also great, but in a totally different way. San Diego is frankly one of the most perfect places IMO.

QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 19, 2009 -> 12:11 PM) I rarely squat because they wore me out even worse, lol. I'm not even going that heavy, I push out 10-12 reps per set. My legs just suck. My usual: squats on smith machine leg extensions leg press leg curls calf raises 3 sets of 10-12 reps each I would move off of most of those and do more body resistance workouts for legs like lunges, squats, wall sits etc. Heres a decent one you can do at home the first few times so you can get the hang of it. It'll blast your legs I promise. Balance lunge (25 per leg) Have a chair behind you and place the top of your foot on it as you lunge on your other leg. Basically a one legged squat of sorts -when thats too easy for you, add a calf raise at the end of each upwards rep. Wall Squat (2 reps, 90 sec each) Step back lunge (with weight) (15 reps per leg) Legs together weights at your sides, step back into a lunge, keep your knee over your ankle. Alternating Side Lunge (24 reps total) Feet together, alternate lunges from left to right. You can add weight or add depth and hold. Single leg Wall Squat (60 seconds total) wall sit, one leg in the air, switch legs every 10 sec Deadlift squat (20 each leg) Standing on one leg with other leg bent, behind you, squat down and reach for the floor. Sneaky Lunge (20 reps) Basically lunge across the floor, right foot first, then left. All on tiptoes, heels never touch ground Calf Raises (75 reps) 15 slow and 10 fast in each of three directions -toes out heels together -feet parallel -toes in heels out Speed squat (30 per leg) -80 percent of weight on one leg, 20 on the other, then switch. Fast as you can Done. Let me know how that works out, I can add some more if you like. I do these with my back on thursdays.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Aug 19, 2009 -> 12:52 AM) I don't know what smack talk you are gonna run at this point, he's the best QB in the game and might be on the best team yet again. Maybe best player overall, best QB...Eh. -
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 04:44 PM) I hate the idea of leading off with Beckham, but it's the only logical way to get Nix in the lineup without depriving Rios of an RBI-OBP oriented spot. Nothing that had to do with your lineup, just wanted to bring the Karma back to you.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 04:21 PM) No, I'm not really booing him. I just don't want him to do well for the Vikings. If he does well odds are the Packers won't win the division and The Vikings do. I cheered him on last year with the Jets. He sucks, he will benefit you more than hurt you. -

QUOTE (lord chas @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 04:11 PM) yes but pack fans like myself have supported him through his family problems, vicodin addiction, interceptions and this this feels like a slap in the face Because the Packers forced him into retirement and he had to go play for another team? How is that a slap in the face again? -

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 04:09 PM) What if Frank Thomas went to the Twins and we were facing the Twins in the last game of the year. Winner takes the division. Frank is up with to bat in the 9th with bases loaded, 2 outs, tie game. Do you hope he hits a grand slam or strikes out? So, you are saying you would only boo Favre in the last game of the year just as he releases a bomb to the corner? Favre is the Packers Franchise, just like Frank is a huge part of the Sox. I never nor would I ever boo Frank. And Frank never led our franchise to the promised land. -

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 04:02 PM) Favre retired than unretired and the retired and than wanted to come back. At that point the Packers said enough is enough. I don't blame them. I'm a Packer fan not a Brett Favre fan. I will go backing to liking Favre after he retires(like about 5 years to make sure), but while he is on the Vikings he is an enemy. Most likely since you've been alive, the Pack has been Brett Favre. They are the same entity. It would be like booing Frank Thomas, but worse. -
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 03:19 PM) I'd have Nix as my starting 2b, Beckham Rios Quentin Dye Thome Konerko Pierszynski Ramirez Nix I'd be in game threads repeatedly calling for your head.
-
Who would you rather have starting at 2b?

QUOTE (WCSox @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 10:47 AM) I'd move Alexei back to 2B next season and find a free agent SS or 3B this winter. One potential in-house solution would be Nix at 3B and Beckham at SS, although I'm not sure if Nix can play the hot corner that well (he's been a disaster at SS). Not really. Gordo should be a 3B or 2B, if you dont like Alexei at SS, Gordon will not make you happy either. He really should stick at 3B at this point. We have 2 plus defenders at 2B now with Getz and Nix, and a rookie SS who by all account SHOULD improve defensively by next season, and is a great offensive threat at the position. The real potential in house solution would be to not change anything. -
huff's season is folding faster than magglio's career.

Honestly, people like that probably are more fans of meth and malt liquor than sports teams.

QUOTE (The Critic @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 11:40 AM) It was. I don't think I've ever seen anything saying the Ligoons were Cubs fans. Here is one blurb, William admitted to being a Cubs fan and they spent the day at Wrigley. http://chicagoist.com/2008/07/29/cubs_fans..._up_sox_fan.php
-
I love how every Cub fan has to bring up the Ligues as a defense to their fan's horrific behavior, conveinently leaving out that the Ligues are both Cubs fans who spent the daytime before the sox game getting wasted in the wrigley bleachers.
-
Hilarious post I saw about this on nsbb.com Shwoing some of the folks on here that there are true fans on both sides of the city, and we both hate the same group of idiot cubs fans.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 12, 2009 -> 05:12 PM) Well, it doesn't appear as though the issue was false imprisonment. I don't know exactly how things occurred (I am not sure anyone does except those involved), but it doesn't seem as though they were demanding to be let out of the cab, and after not being allowed to, they attacked the driver. It seems as though they attacked the driver because he would not give them correct change. However, the fact that we have become aware that the driver "may have locked the doors" seems to imply as though the Kanes' did try to exit the vehicle and could not. The whole situation is a mess. One would need to know the exact chronology of events in order to really work out any legal theory. Did they try and exit the cab after paying their fare, but prior to committing battery on the driver? Did they demand to be let out of the vehicle? Or did they simply attack the driver because he did not have correct change? Who the heck knows. From my perspective, I dont trust a THING this cab driver says. He's already been proven to be a liar and a shady individual as are alot of the cab drivers I have personally come into contact with. I've seen friends assaulted, killed, and in danger of rape from some of these lowlifes (not all of them mind you). Personally, I've punched a cab driver square in his f***ing face, and I enjoyed the hell out of it. I have a scar on my arm when I cut myself on his divider as I popped his stupid mouth. Granted he was endagering mine and my friend's lives as he was driving intoxicated and trying to harm us, but I can see where some times some of those f***ers arent any more than an asshole driving a yellow car. /rant

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 13, 2009 -> 01:30 PM) LOL, in the Trib article, this quote from Crane Kenney kills me: No issues of any kind? I'm not going to be some doofus and say this a typical Cubs fan thing, but come on, this is NOT the only time something like this has happened there. I've literally gone to maybe 5 cubs games in the last 10 years, and there have been no less than 2 incidents at each game. I was even at the Dodgers bullpen fiasco game. I think the Cubs lost all 5 games I've been too (if they lost the Mark Prior shattered elbow game which i was at as well) and I can recall 3 separate occasions where garbage has been thrown onto the field from the bleachers directly at opposing players.

How hilarious is it that the guy who threw the beer: Is wearing a cocked to the side cubs trucker hat A cubs wrist band A v-neck t shirt An awful pair of "trendy" sunglasses hanging from said v-neck And 99% there is a gay feaux-hawk underneith the cocked trucker hat If he was wearing a pair of awful checkered shorts with the shirt tucked in, he could be a cubs "fan" sterotype poster child.

QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Aug 12, 2009 -> 06:37 PM) Should be... LF Pods CF Rios RF TCQ Should be why? To put an injured Q in RF maybe 3 times a month? Thats just not smart. If you want Rios in CF, PODS is sitting. Thats how it is this season. The only way Rios is in CF and PODS is on the field is if Q is hurt or sitting, and even then Ozzie probably would want to keep PODS out of LF.

I have to say I really enjoyed watching power pitcher Freddy back when he hit 94 consistently and overpowered hitters. Junk ball Freddy, not so much.
-
QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Aug 12, 2009 -> 06:21 PM) Pods still in CF is just stupid. Rios should be there. Then where does PODS play? If PODS is playing, Rios is in RF or LF, thats just how it is.
