  1. QUOTE (fathom @ May 26, 2008 -> 07:11 PM) Yikes....PK's bat speed is non-existent. seems like he never gets the barrel on the ball
  2. we really need to make byrd throw alot of pitches tonight...we did it early in the year to opposing pitchers, but lately we have been awful at it. it would be nice to get into the tribe pen early as it is struggling
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ May 26, 2008 -> 06:39 PM) Diet drinks are even worse. diet stinks, but i drink it, as long as i get myself in the habit of drinking it, i can stand it....i drink like 3 a day, maybe more, so to ingest the extra 500 or so calories a day drinking regular isnt worth it... even when i go to mcdonalds and get something ridiculously unhealthy, i still drink diet simply to keep in the habit of drinking diet...if i have a regular i might start drinking it all the time...kind of like an alcoholic i guess...but damn on the rare occasions that i do have a regular coke goddamn it tastes soooo good
  4. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 26, 2008 -> 06:39 PM) 20 mph wind out to CF. Hopefully our boppers take advantage and theirs don't good thing we have a K guy out there and not a fly ball pitcher like floyd...though javy isnt exactly a GB guy on his non K outs
  5. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ May 26, 2008 -> 06:34 PM) VAZKKKKKEZ will continue to push a team while their down. Im thinking Thome finally does something today. I think our guys have FINALLY figured out Byrd. Lets have another great road trip!! not just on the big 3 R HR but dye had a bunch of good swings last time against byrd and a few lengthy, good ABs...hes my pick to click
  6. with the exception of not walking vlad back in anaheim i think ozzie has had himself a very good year managing...unlike last year
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ May 26, 2008 -> 05:02 PM) You couldn't pay me 100 dollars to drink coca-cola instead of pepsi. im the exact opposite

    Choose CQ

QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 26, 2008 -> 04:58 PM) I would hope he makes the AL bench. If not, Francona is a jerk. yeah that or the players are idiots for not voting him in as a player nominee... either way, no chance he makes it to the final man vote...francona has to take someone from the sox even if hes not a players nominee...maybe one of our pitchers would make it first but i doubt it
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ May 26, 2008 -> 04:21 PM) So, on Comcast last night, Mark "Huge Nose" Schianowski stated that both KW and Jim Hendry caught lightning in a bottle this offseason by getting Carlos Quentin and Reed Johnson. I had to do everything in my power not to spit my Pepsi out of my nose. The only thing those guys have in common is they both get HBP frequently. i had to do everything in my power not to spit my coke out my nose reading that you were actually drinkin pepsi instead of coke and no not that coke out of my nose
  10. QUOTE (jenks45monster @ May 26, 2008 -> 05:25 PM) Assuming Hosmer is gone by #8, and Smoak, Alonso, and Wallace aren't, I'd have to go with Smoak. He seems like the most complete player out of the group. Smoak is a great switch-hitting power-hitter that many compare to Mark Teixeira. Also has Gold Glove caliber D. Also, Wallace isn't called "The Walrus" but some scouts for no reason. The kid has a massive body. is that wallace? jebus the scouting report that said he has thick thighs wasnt joking but to be fair i heard that before this year he lost like 20 or 25 lbs...and we dont know when that pic was taken....still for the most part, its my opinion that pro athletes dont really have problems with their weight (some do) but when it comes down to making millions in free agency and winning world series, guys tend to get in shape...of course there are exceptions, but if wallace is hard worker it shouldnt be a huge deal.... i actually wouldnt mind taking wallace....he seems like a billy beane pick...great hitter, great approach, great discipline, but the body that scares scouts away
  11. dodgers have blown opportunity after opportunity in this game...
  12. third time this game dodgers have had a runner in scoring position with 0 outs and failed to get him in.... billingsly ran his fastball up to 96 when he first came up....i havent seen him top 91 all game ...hmmm f***youdome has blown for about the last 3 weeks
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ May 26, 2008 -> 02:14 PM) This Dodgers team is pretty crappy without Loney and Furcal in the lineup. Also, the Cubs face a bad Rockies team this coming weekend with Holliday, Hawpe, and Barmes. Plenty of time for Pods to shine! at least the dodgers are respectable....which is sad to think, they are the best team the cubs have played in a long time...but you are right they are much better with furcal and loney
  14. QUOTE (Brian @ May 26, 2008 -> 02:54 PM) My sister's friend is at the Cubs game and texted her and said they sell shirts outside Wrigley that read, "Edmonds Still Sucks". lol its funny because its true
  15. its pretty weird how similar smoak alonso beckham and wallaces numbers all are....seems like the main concern with wallace is his body, but he has dropped weight and leads off for ASU, 14 or 18 in SBs...some scouts say hes the best pure hitter in the draft ...i remember reading something from a GM saying "if wallace doesnt become a .300 hitter in the majors, nobody in this draft will" all of those guys have a good eye at the plate, though alonso has drawn the most walks....itll be an interesting draft, and id be happy wiht anyone of those college guys, and even with skipworth if hes there
  16. we play arizona state....they absolutely whipped us in the 3rd game of the year...but hopefully we will seek revenge... wallace went yard twice last time we played em including a grand slam...alvarez vs. wallace...some pretty good 3b in that regional
  17. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 26, 2008 -> 11:37 AM) Wow, making it tough on Miami. They get to deal with Mizzu. Titans get UCLA/Virginia as the 2 & 3's in there conference. They've played well against the Bruins this season, but there is no doubting UCLA's talent (preseason #1). they still havent posted the bracket online...im not by a tv, can you tell me where vandy ended up if you saw it or remember
  18. QUOTE (Brian @ May 25, 2008 -> 10:36 PM) People actually complained about the CQ deal? We gave up a AA catcher who may never see the majors. well we gave up Carter, who was a A ball 1b...and at the time was our position player prospect....not sure that anyone complained about it too much, but there were plenty of people who wanted quentin to have no part of the roster and wanted owens to start because he is fast
  19. QUOTE (Brian @ May 25, 2008 -> 10:26 PM) Let's bump the "White Sox sign Scott Linebrink" thread and see who didn't like the deal. better yet, lets bump all the CQ threads and see who didnt like it...or all the threads that wanted Jerry owens starting instead i will admit i probably didnt like the linebrink deal too much, mainly cuz the # of years....4 years is still alot...though i knew at the time it addressed a need
  20. extremely random quote from a movie that made soxtalks top 50 funniest....anyone care to guess the movie "You go to Utah, then you stay in Utah"
  21. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 25, 2008 -> 10:17 PM) Don't most ESPN Sunday night games go well over 4 hours? This one lasted about 2 hours. with our hitting and pitching weve played some ridiculously fast games over the last week
  22. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 25, 2008 -> 09:15 PM) CQ giving props to Jose. I love it. and a little bit of shaving cream in his eye....though if im not mistaken that was shaving gel
  23. im guessing a thome walk off.....which is kind of like betting on the washington generals to beat the globetrotters
