i love the baseball draft....i like how the picks are back to back, not like football that has 15 minutes between each pick

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 10:58 AM) Its getting closer. Baseball America said in the blog that it sounds like the Royals will announce Hochevar as the #1 overall....I wonder how far miller falls

QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 09:24 PM) Wheres Luis Vizcaino when we need him... seriously... no I am not meaning for this to be green. :banghead pen depth is def. an issue when the SP only goes 5 and is not effective...especially against the best hitting team in the majors...viz sure would look nice, but im also glad we have vazquez and his 6 wins instead of el duque and his 2......4 wins is certainly more than viz would have contributed

QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 09:21 PM) Cotts and Politte are totally ineffective-who would have thought that these 2 are likely being replaced by Thurmond and Nelson in all honesty...i hate to be that guy looking for optimism after at horrid few days, but politte wont pitch this poorly all year, if he comes around, which i think he will eventually....and thornton/cotts/jenks do what they have we will get better...that said we certainly do need insurance and another quality arm if we want to be real contenders to the crown again note: before i get jumped on about politte...by coming around...i mean more in line with a high 3 ERA than his 2 ERA last year
-
i hate to add even more insult, but juan cruz, who KW was interested in....tossed 7 innings shutout ball tonight

QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 09:15 PM) UGLY i hate to get on a guy who has pitched as well as contreras, but tonight is a perfect example of how we need to ride our SP throughout the year. We dont have a deep pen, plain and simple, so we need our starters to go at least 6 every night. obviuosly that won't happen every night, but this is what happens when you starters dont go deep.....your bullpen gets exposed alot more...and when its not deep and you cant get it to cotts/jenks you are gonna be in trouble.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 09:12 PM) Just a horrid road trip. we are only .500 on the road...which hopefulyl picks up...i know everyone says you go .500 on the road and good things will happen, but with this team we should be winning more games than losing anywhere we play -

QUOTE(Sox It To Em @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 09:07 PM) Well said. How many relievers are out there that are consistently good every year? Not very many. only elite closers and like a few set up men....its so variable its insane -

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 09:03 PM) I absolutely HATE the idea of trading for bullpen help. Even though I realize it's necessary, it's such an inconsistent position which will cost us several valuable prospects. Why isn't anyone looking at the pile of s*** we call a minor league system and questioning where the pitching help is? Of the entire system, no one is readily available to assist our bullpen--and that's just sad. excellent post -

QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 09:00 PM) KW has to go out and get some serious bullpen help. If we bulk up the bullpen, this is a WS team. I don't think it is with the current bullpen. Picking up Jeff Nelson off of the scrap heap isn't enough. We've got enough back of the bullpen guys already. We've got the prospects, so trade a couple of them for a couple genuinely good bullpen arms. The sooner the better. im hopign and praying the angels remain way under .500 and maybe, just maybe, a guy like scott shields becomes available -

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 08:38 PM) KW made me sick last winter trading bullpen guys and not getting replacements, and counting on Cotts and Politte to match or come close to last season's performances. i have no problem with KW dealing marte and gettin thornton.....all that really leaves in vizcaino that he didnt get a replacement for..and Mccarthy over the course of the year will similar numbers to viz. IMO. the real problem is that cotts politte arent pitching like they did, and people also forgot how damn good hermanson was last year and the fact that he was hurt really hrut our pen....i do think KW shoulda found someone to replace hermie, but i dont think even he knew hermie would be done for -
