QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:58 PM) sorry if this question seems silly, but .... What was the reason for Padilla to throw at AJ? That's what I don't understand. thats a great question...my guess is it goes back to when AJ was with the giants and padilla the phillies

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:56 PM) If this team is truly upset, and intends to retaliate, NOTHING would be more fitting than defeating Texas tomorrow. Personally, I supported retaliation because what happened to Pierzynski was blatant. As I mentioned earlier in the game day thread, this entire system of issuing warnings is terrible. It gives one team an open opportunity to hit the opposing team. That just can't be allowed. Unfortunately, Ozzie removing Tracey after one batter made it sort of obvious our intentions were to hit Blalock. There's probably going to be warnings issued before tomorrow's game. What we need tomorrow from Buehrle is to pitch inside regardless of warnings. Don't have it affect his game. Also, if we happen to be leading late with a sizable lead, simply bring in Jenks in the 9th inning. Let Texas saulk over that for a year. perfectly put FT

QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:54 PM) thanks I bet tracy doesn't have the balls to intentionally hit someone yet nah it looked to me like tracey was definitlely trying and he just plain missed
-
QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:49 PM) I missed the game, can I have a play by play of what happened please? AJ got plunked twice with the first pitch....hawk got pissed and IMO he had every right to be... alot of soxtalkers are saying they were embarassed that hawk said the sox should retaliate Tracey comes in bot of 7 and AJ holds his hand kinda behind blalock....first pitch high and tight but didnt hit him....after a pitch or two another ball way inside, tracey misses his oppertunity and eventually just has to get blalock out, ozzie looks pissed and gets tracey outa the game and brings in montero to face the righty derosa...supposedly ozzie at some poiint was yelling on the bullpen phone but i didnt see that

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:47 PM) Amen. I'm giving up on this thread though, the meathead attitude is pretty sickening. I'm expecting everybody to call Jason Grimsley a rat next. the meathead attitude in this case is how you play the game of baseball...your guy gets thrown at twice, and you cant just sit on your hands...im not saying the sox should start s***, but when s*** gets started you dont just sti there and take it
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:44 PM) Ya, explain all that to Ozzie, Hawk(not the best example, I know), Dj, and Melton, all guys who have played the game before. There are times when you must stick up for your teammates imo and we missed. exactly...anyone remember buerhle plunking someone on the orioles as retaliation and breakin up his streak of goin 6 innings at like 48? yeah thats one example

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:39 PM) Elbow = head? The previous post before yours was perfect. ok elbow...regardless, as a player in the clubhouse you dont just let your guy get thrown at like that and that was the point hawk was trying to make saying that if he were a player he wouldnt let bulls*** like that happen either and hed be pissed

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:36 PM) Sorry, but talking about a guy getting a liner back off the kneecap or off the elbow in unacceptable. I was absolutely embarrassed that he kept going on and on about it, and how if it was him, he would've waited for him outside the locker room or some s*** like that. Have some f***ing professionalism, Hawk. :sigh Damn do I miss Rooney... yeah and padilla throwing at AJs head with a 90 mph hardball isnt bulls***...please...this is baseball, not golf
-
QUOTE(Jake @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:33 PM) Did anyone else get the notion that he pulled Tracey for not hitting that guy? that was probably t he only reason tracey was out there QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:34 PM) You're crazy. hey kalapse i went back on my tivo and looked at what you said in the game thread about AJ holdin out his hand....thats interesting certainly made it look intentional...but he also did it earlier in the game in the inning before and nothing happened, maybe he wanted vazquez to do it too
-
QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:31 PM) A good attempt at sarcasm. You had me going for a bit. mildly amusing...i agree hawk is too much of a homer some times....but he was right with everything tonight...umpires take away any chance at retaliation and its ridiculous

QUOTE(Ndgt10 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:20 PM) Fields, Garland for Willis. why would florida want to try to dump willis and the big contract he will be making by taking on a guy who is 1.) worse and 2.) already costs alot

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:20 PM) I love Jorge Cantu. yeah that was huge...jones hit baldelli on an 0-2 pitch to extend the inning too

QUOTE(ChiSoxLifer @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:17 PM) Here's the recap of his two innings against the Injuns. 7th inning - B. Broussard walked - B. Broussard to second on wild pitch - B. Broussard to third on wild pitch - R. Belliard walked - T. Hollandsworth popped out to second - A. Boone singled to right, B. Broussard scored, R. Belliard to second - R. Vazquez popped out to first - G. Sizemore flied out to shallow left 8th inning J. Michaels homered to deep left - T. Hafner hit by pitch - V. Martinez flied out to deep center - B. Broussard popped out to shallow left - R. Belliard grounded into fielder's choice, T. Hafner out at second He just can't find the zone. Ozzie has said many times he doesn't care how hard a guy can throw. If he can't find the zone he won't be with the team. fine...then send him down after the cleveland game...the only time he missed the zone tonight was when he tried to hit blalock
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:15 PM) Actually, it might make more sense to send Tracey down, and call up Lopez. We face the Reds this wknd, and they have a couple of dangerous lefties. Lopez could give us a big out in the mid innings, especially with the possibilities of hitting for the pitcher. i wouldnt mind that, that seems like solid reasoning...i would just hate to see them send tracey down just cuz he didnt get a piece of blalock
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:13 PM) He got Blalock out and threw some damn good pitches in doing so. Ozzie was pissed for much different reasons. exactly...he didnt get that job done he wanted to, but s***...thats certainly not a reason to send him to AAA....he tried to hit him at least
-
QUOTE(ChiSoxLifer @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:11 PM) I don't think he threw at him. If you guys remember correctly he was really wild versus the Indians in that 10-8 game where the Sox scored six in the ninth inning. Wild pitch, 2 walks, 2 hits, and 2 earned runs. This was eventually the winning margin. I'm sure Ozzie took him out and was pissed because he couldn't find the strike zone. With that said, I'm sure he will be optioned back to the minors before the game is even over. he threw at him...no doubt about it, on top of that, he got the guy out, so its not like he didnt throw strikes....also, im not sure why failing to hit a guy would get you a trip back to the minors...its not like he didnt try

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 01:58 PM) Anyone who loves the super taco, knows not to tell you where it is. Its in the same stand as the corned beef though. Both are awesome. ive heard much about the corned beef

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 11:54 AM) - I love Murph. He is the only radio guy in Chicago who will consistently talk baseball. Something key when the city's hot radio discussion is who the back-up left offensive line-man will be. Really, I don't care. - The Score needs to learn that you don't need an arrogant radio personality to be successful. See Mike and Mike in the Morning for reference. - Mike North is fine. I think he's a good fit for the morning lineup, just not well suited anywhere else. - Boers and Bernstein are unlistenable. And before the "Oh you just don't understand their show comments", I do. Their act/gimmick has gotten tiresome. this is almost exactly how i feel.... i dont know why all the people hate murph...im guessin they listened to him during 03 when the cubs were goin good, got sick of him and never listened again....he talks baseball all the time and he rips into the cubs when they deserve it....generally he calls it like it is i also dont find boers and bernstein very good. its one thing to make some jokes, but a completely other thing to try to have a comedy hour before talking sports i also dislike MJ&H...they talk about random s*** like movies way too often and have too many commercials since they are in the primetime spot... mike and mike are great, though i dont mind north on occasion carmen and silvy are tied with laurence holmes and zack zeidman(wish they still had me and z) for my favorites... dan patrick is great too QUOTE(J-MAN @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:33 AM) Couldn't agree more - Ebony & Ivory was the best! Now my day is divided as follows: Mike and Mike Switch to North at 9:00 to avoid Rosenbloom Switch to Dan Patrick at 2:00 to avoid Boring and Bernstein MJH for the drive home It's a shame I have to switch up and back to avoid abrasive jerks - to Boring everyone but him is a pud or an asshole or worse. Rosenbloom pontificates for three hours - Sports talk sure has gone down the crapper since the SCORE switched the line up years back. yeah rosenbloom is awful.....and now they have him paired with salisbury who makes bill walton look intelligent

QUOTE(BDavisFutureHOF @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 01:16 PM) Only reason I ask is because I am not too familiar with his stuff and have heard that the Arizona air is supposed to hamper the use of all your breaking stuff. more so in tucson than in phoenix, phoenix is in a valley so the altitude isnt horrible....that is one reason the sox wanna get outa tucson for ST

QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 10:54 AM) 55 innings pitched with a 3.93 ERA is not a large enough sample size? um.... oh sorry...yeah, that is meaningful, the breakdown by inning isnt since thats only 13 innings for each of the 1st 2nd 3rd etc.....but yeah 55 IP isn't bad

Ortiz is one of the weirdest pitchers I have ever seen....from 01-04 he put up productive years, 2001 17-9 3.29 2002 14-10 3.61 2003 21-7 3.82 2004 15-9 4.13 i thought people were nuts when they blasted the dbacks for signing ortiz at 7-8 mil per year, since starting pitching, and bad starting pitching, was going for 7 mil. but the experts were right this time, and ortiz was toast, his high walk totals in all of those years were alarming....that said, those are solid years, and its weird to me to see a guy decline like he has at the age of 30

too small of a sample size...those numbers are rather meaningless

QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 12:15 PM) Am I the only one who doesn't find Dane Cook too funny? I think he's very energetic and everything and some stuff he does gets me to laugh, but for the most part, I dont think his material is that good. EDIT: George Carlin is the best ever. im with you on cook

QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 06:27 PM) Montero has been decent. If Politte comes back healthy, a trade may not need to happen. Just a thought: If KW and Ozzie tell Judy that he's being removed from the rotation for McCarthy, would he waive his no-trade clause? good question....they can certainly use it for leverage...i would think so since jon already has his ring and will make his bank wherever he goes....maybe not tho who knows
