Sox Needs
Yeah, with f***ing Phillies and Marlins (somebody's gotta grab the wild card away from the Cubs) letting me down, Mets all of the sudden find themselevs within reach. That's too bad, really. I think him being signed past 2004 would have been too big a problem for Sox to overcome anyway. ] The Jerry = :headshake

Aaron Rowand/Jose V
Let's not forget that Willie plays GG 2B and despite his recent funk, still has a 380 OBP versus RHP since April 10th. 380! With his speed (why has he stopped running again?), 380 OBP would be absolutely huge, it would make Uribe better by having Willie on base even if he doesn't plan to run. So Aaron should continue to spray line-drives all over the field - he'll see more playing time against RHP, but I still consider Willie our starting CF when a righty is on the mound.

Cubs as Champs
Apparently our friends Izzy and M-Jeff4lifeyo can't differentiate between "Let's give the Cubs World Series trophey right f***ing now...They're just too good" AND "A healthy Cub squad should be considered the favorite to go to WS from NL"

Thanks Red Sox
Lame?? Why, because I don't want to see a huge-payrolled team succeed? Because I don't want to see Bawston break their curse before we break ours? Because I do not like Pedro and Manny? Incidentally, I am also rooting for the Florida, Philladephia, Cards, Astros so they keep the Cubs from reaching the playoffs. I guess that's lame, too.

Thanks Red Sox
Since it was an unearned run, I can only assume Nomar's error had something to do with it. In any case, I am rooting aganst the Red Sox - 1918 and all. Yankees will make it, and I'd rather see Angels in there than Billy Caesar's A's.

5th starter means Sox victory! merged threads
Sox are 3 outs away from an official game and this b**** is serving up gopher balls.

5th starter means Sox victory! merged threads
3 more outs for Rauch to get and it's an official game. And the rain is coming down harder now.

5th starter means Sox victory! merged threads
Actually MLB rules specifically state that "he whose 3-run homer is wiped out by a rainout, is stipped of all 2-run HRs hit that season"

That HR will not count if the game is postponed.

2004 SOX Evaluation
I think Sox evaluation is pretty damn valuable - I know I use it to check stuff and it will become even more usefull in the off-season when all the debates are raging because all this stuff won't be fresh in the memory anymore. Even if you discontinue it after the ASB, you did a great job Juggs.

If this game is rained out, I'll know God doesn't want the Sox in the playoffs.

Sox Needs
1. Glavine/Garcia/Batista 2. Urbina 3. Finley (lesser need) The end.
-
Mike Jackson
Jackson has like a 10 ERA since the decent April start. Urbina should be Politte's replacement, but Jackson? I agree - give Bajenaru a shot. If he fails, so be it.

5th starter means Sox victory! merged threads
It didn't have to be this way. It shouldn't have to be MUST-WIN, for either Sox or the Bigger Unit. And yet, after Buerhle skunked it up last night, it so clearly IS. Better not f***ing head into Prior, Zambrano, Maddux games while only 3 games over .500 because we lose at least 2 in that series and then we got Minnesota and Cubs on the road. Sox should have been 10-15 games over .500 heading into this stretch. f***ing management, I loathe it so.

Im pissed
No silly - you see, Sox should pay 12.7 Mill a year for a #5 starter. Then they would have 5 more wins.
-
Im pissed
f*** Colon. He sucks. The signing would have been terrible. The is no inherent contradiction here. Needing a big-time pitcher has nothing to do with signing that worthless POS. There are better and smarter options out there. You're not the only one who wants the Sox to spend. But others would like that money not thrown out on bums like Phatolo. There is difference.

Is it a slump ... or?
No, it's us. Cleveland will lose 87-90 games this year. They are not good. But for now, they're punshing all the mistakes. The key? Pitch like Loaiza did in first 4 innigs, and you'll see how ineffective they can be. The great Ronnie Belliard was hitting 250 in the last month a half, with 1 HR. He hit 3 in the last 3 games against us. Way out of the ballpark. Go figure.
