You truly think rookies Harris & Olivo and a semi-rookie Crede will carry this team? Valentin can't see the breaking ball; Magglio and Lee are wildly overswinging on every other pitch; Jimenez is completely apathetic; and Konerko is in one of the worst slumps of all time...Sox are the second worst hitting team in AL...And if Hurt reverts back to his uppercut swing/mental case self, Sox are beyond f***ed. Wo...I thought just the other day we gave the Red Sox a game as a gift....Now we are back in contention? Wow dude you are putting some words into my mouth. Where did I say "carry the team" and where did I say "back in contention" ? I SAID that those 3 guys are much more worth worrying about than the vets. I am not sure where you got the rest of that crap? I don't know about you, but when I talk about "mashing the ball", the implication is always "....in order for us to be in contention".... If you were talking about a slight improvement, then, sure, I guess if Cerde and Harris give Konerko 1st&3rd&1-out often enough, I bet he will repond occasionally and Sox would score a 4 runs a game instead 3 and will finish 5 games behind instead of 10+. Bottomline: Sox are not going anywhere if the big 3 pitchers (Elo-Colon-Burly) and big 5 hitters (Jim, Val, Hurt, Lee, Kong and Maggs) don't crank the RBI production up two notches. And I am yet to see anything worthy of getting excited about from the big guns, Frank excepted- and even he only has half the RBIs of Delgado.. Harris/Rowand/Olivo/Crede are just icing on the cake not the other way around.

I wouldn't be hopping on the optimistic bandwagon just yet if I were you for 2 reasons: 1) You have been selling this team short, quite vociferously so, from the very beginning. You thought the Sox had no talent to compete with the Twins and are an 85-win team at best when playing to it's potential...However, since they have been "severely underachiving" and "playing without desire" against weak opponents in April-May, it only makes sense for you to revise your prediction downwards to, say, 75-87 record...That is unless you have been guessing all along and 85 was just a "safe"guess which you could then conventiently windsock. Makes you look bad because you have been rubbing it into peoples faces pretty much all season long. 2) The Sox are FAR from ok: the 2 game outburst against awful pitching aside, this team has been giving games away all season long--just 7-8 tantalizing losses in 2 weeks spanning Tribe and Boston series alone....I would wait until we are at least 3-4 games ahead of the Twins/10 games over .500 before letting out victorious cries of elation as quite a few Sox fans have been doing. As far as I am concerned, this team STILL can't hit- our hitters once again looked awful against good relivers like Remlinger, Farny, Borowski and Alfonseca, swinging at pitcher's pitches, falling off balance on anything not in the middle of the plate, greedily overswinging, etc. Until Jimenez/Valentin/Lee/Konerko/Ordonez start mashing the ball like they can, Sox will be a deeply mediocre team. And don't me started on Koch and Gordon throwing meatballs with game on the line, awful stuff, whoever was calling those pitches needed to be shot.

Any chance Rockies would swap Konerko/Colon/Valentin/Wunsht/Wright for Helton and cash?

You are so right. Despite each teams sorry history, the intensity can't be matched anywhere. In all of baseball only Yankees-Red Sox and Dodgers-Giants (when they were both in NY) are comparable. They of course aren't interleague. Sorry, but neither D-G nor Y-RS come close to Sox-Cubs as far as sheer intensity and antagonism partly because those intraleague series are 14-20 games this year whereas our interleague one is only 3-6 and may, in fact, come down to ZERO if they do away with IL altogether. Then there is the city rivals factor and the fact that neither team has won a playoff game in a longass time, both are frustrated this season sinking under expectations of success. If you think the have's fight a brutal and desperate fight, you clearly have never seen 2 have-nots with nothing to lose go at it... No contest IMO.

....and he is still a better hitter than either Lee or Magglio by a pretty wide margin. Imagine that! (fyi, I think he is a an insincere, big-ego'd clown, but his offensive skills wereNEVER in question, cork or no cork...keeping things in perspective, that's all)
-
However let's not get too excited about Lee's defense- he just gave the Cubs a run as a gift by missing the cutoff man not to mention his other run-causing mistakes/dropped balls throughout the year. He's better than Daubach and is tolerable, but it's still the weakest part of his game.

Nice play Jose, gun em down!

Sox hitters working the count...spoiling good pitches...dumping bloopers and forcing opposing team to commit stupid errors..... and CRUSHING MISTAKES? Mommy I am scared, what the f*** is going on here?!?!
-
ooooh, the second play Sosa didn't make because lousy jump...he might have more runs caused to the Cubs defensively in one inning if Crede scores than Jose and Magglio gave all year long...lololololo

dropping the ball like that....tsk-tsk-tsk!

The "best SS in Chicago" is now batting .110 with RISP...ha!

Nothing strange about it: 1. His strenght is his batspeed and power. Fatsballs, inside. 2. His weakness is pitch recognition, discipline, off-speed timing and mechanics (common among young players, though at 26.5 he should be improving). Most lefties don't throw nearly as hard as righties, come from a different angle and are usually more far in between as far as starts, all of which require more adjustments....which, lets face it Sox aren't really good at.
-
He can a run for a big man unlike overhyped 40-yard relay wonder Borchard...his fielding is mediocre, not horrible anymore....his salary is tolerable and his hitting potential is too good to bench him, noone to really replace him with. He is on pace to respectable 95 RBI- more if he gets on a hot streak. He is not the biggest problem by a long shot, though he is disappointing.

The best part about a semi-frigid girl like Nat is that you have work your ass off and be an ingenious mind-reader in order to get things rolling most of the time....But once they do, it's literally fireworks every single time. Imagination, there is no substitute for that really. I don't care how big your balls are and how perfect your technique, if you can't make things feel and look as though for the first time, you're f***ed. I hate routine in every reincarnation, especially sexual.

Since my boyhood idol, Aerton Senna, tragically died in 93 in Imola, I can never bring myself to watch it again,. I quite literally freak out.

Why not have both? Symbiotic relationship between the two can be reached

lol i was taking into consideration who the reply was to when i put that up there.......come on now phamala and carmen in the shower together......their boobs alone make that impossible unless your using the shower at the local gym locker room....lol...........brando imaginiation is a great thing if used correctly.. why waste it on beating off when you can put it to good use in everyday life with tangibles?????? lol...... Pamela Anderson is a talenless ugly bimbo with fake tits. Ditto for Electra, though she cuter and can dance a little bit which I love in a woman. Both are overrated village bicycles. My shower would have Angelina Jolie and Halle Berry teaching virginal Mandy Moore and Emilly Rossum the art of....well I'll let you that imagination of yours, haha

This thread is stupid, both wsc and Roman are virginiest virgins that ever virgined... And, HSC, that very imagination (plus a real girlfriend who also needs "attention") you aluded to is the biggest reason why I resist temptations of porn for the most part. Try it, the effect is incredible. Lack of imagination and mystery is so rampant in modern society, most disillusioned ones go through the motions most of the time. Sad....but not rteally since it makes me better in comparison.
