  1. ROTFLMAO...In light of the documented evidence presented by many sources, including those mentioned by cwsox and apu, I am giving you a chance to rethink the above paragraph, the logical chain contained therein.
  2. They are budgeting $3.5 million for Loiaza in 2004, not a penny more. I thought he was only signed through 2003...oh well.
  3. And Sinatra and Dean Martin were extraordinarily popular among the Italian-Americans....LMAO (CWSOX, when you are not talking about Valentin, you are truly one of the brightest and most knowledgable posters on Soxnet, no doubt about that.)
  4. Trading Colon = giving up on the 03-04 seasons, no doubt about that. With that in mind, how much do you think Sox will budget for Loaiza signing? If he finishes the year with ERA in mid-2.00, which, if have been watchig him completely dominate hitters, is a possibility.....and adding to it the fact that Loiza is only 31, has never depended on pure velocity and has been serious injury-free....how much do you think the Yankees will offer him? 7 Million? 10? So in essence the 2005 Sox are Burly-Garland-Wright, Bochard, Reed and maybe a 37yo Frank...dare I say 70-wins?
  5. Is the sky purple or blue? And Gore, no matter what you tihnk of him as a politician, most certainly got cheated out of Prezidensee; the fact that you have to resort to "but many elections rigged"-type excuses only reinforces it's factual validity.
  6. How about Pedro, Garciappara and Manny Ramirez?
  7. ....or the time Richard Gere cheated on Cindy "Gia Carangi 2.0" Crawford with a particularly sexy gerbil?
  8. 1. To say Colon is not worth 6 million is mindboggling, name recognition/national exposure and merchandizing alone would cover that as far as a real team with real fanbase like the Red Sox is concerned. 2. Whether 12 million is a lot or not hinges on one little condition: DO SOX WANT BECOME A DYNASTY/WIN WORLD SERIES BEFORE BOSOX AND CUBS...OR NOT. If the answer is yes--and I don't see any other option being anything but a s***-in-face insult to every Sox fan out there....then Colon-Burly-Loaiza trio must stay here and get paid the market value. I am sorry, but Garland-Rauch-Wright-Diaz are NOT going to take you into playoffs, let alone do anything there.....JR may be a a liar and hypocrite, but at 70 years old, I would think he would want to leave some sort of legacy behind with his "favoritest" team and all. You can't take it with you to the grave, mister....

Not my advice. But if I had to make a statement on the issue I'd have to go with ... "what's the point in making a tongue-in-cheek comment anyway " I'm done. I like Roxette's slower melodies, non-rock; the leads singer used to have a nice voice.
  12. I would take Jolie over ANYBODY out there since there is something "alive" and "unique" and "human" in her personality/essence. Billy Bob is a f***in' idiot for letting that one go, even bigger one than that other "mymphette" Eric Benet. Plus, she is an eye candy, which can't hurt. (Halle is at once too neurotic and ambitious for my taste, though she is more conventionally beautiful/sexy than Angelina. Whoever thinks she is "fat" needs to be castrated on the spot, with a dull chainsaw.)

1998....Two outs in the 9th/Sox down by 4: 0-2, Caruso reaches on infield hit....0-2 on Thomas walks....0-2 Belle hits a 3-run homer....1-2 Ventura hits a solo shot....tied at 8....extra innings....belle singles....Ventura blasts a GW homma to RF, virtually to the same spot as the one before....Crowd goes wild and so do I. Rowlings's little story couldn't top that, no way. Greatest NON-baseball related comeback story in a long time. Confrontation gives you a woody, doesn't it? (I wish you'd follow clujer/bmr/your own advice and stopped taking everything so seriously.) Comback comment was so tongue-in-cheek and gentle, no font to underscore the intonation...Besides, how could I want confrontations with one of my favorite posters? Heresy!

  15. to whom it may concern, See that right there is EXACTY the kind of smarmy, biased, not to mention funny-ironic tripe that I've been forced to shoot down since the season began: 1. You do not mention bad defese by Olivo and Jimenez in the second inning that gave Boston 4 outs and put a RISP. (And in a rare event that you do dedicate more than a couple of words to mention non-E6 gaffes, mockery is nowhere near to be found even though I am sure those players have their share of "zealots". More bias in other words.) 2. 1 out....A low line-drive over 3Bman's head that the runneer at 1st had to respect since if it's caught in the air, he gets doubled up at 1st.....it does go over the defender's head and is hit so hard that it takes almost no time for it to reach the 335--feet spot where it bounces right to Ramirez who throws a laser strike (same with which he gunned down Lee) to 'parra who then relays a perfecttly located dart to a catcher sitting right next to the plate.....And Valentin is still SAFE as replay (and announcers for both teams) would clearly show, certainly not the first or last time an important close call goes against the Sox since the Attack.... And YET you have the cojones and presence of mind to use that play as your basis for mockery and arrrogant Itoldyouso posturing? Pathetic. 3. But wait, transparent bias doesn't stop there- with gaame still tied, Val keeps the single from going through, (which would effectively put the runners 1st and 3rd, 1 out) and despite the grass being wet, he still fakes the throw to 1st (which means had Damon, a very smart runner, been trying to bluff, he would have been out by half a line)......But wait, if one were to listen to Mr. Objectivity (roman or cwsox, take your pick), it turns out Valentin "fell" and Garciappara reached base, with Sox being luckly that Damon took mercy on Jose's terrible error and decided not to advance to 3rd....When confronted with this egregious lapse in judgement, what does our resident truth-teller do? That's right--he defers to the Rooney/Farmer....LMAO. It's only one game, mind you- this stuff has been taking place all season long, whitewashing and ignoring mistakes of non-Val players juxtaposed with incessant stretching & panting to "prove" how much Val sucks....all the while pretty much overlooking the many good plays of his like scoring from 3rd on infield pops, take extra bases, scoring, DP-ing, etc.... But then again when someone says that Clayton had "outhit" Manos in 2002, how much stock can you put in that person's baseball IQ/honesty? I've said this before and I'll say this again: when people stop taking cheap shots at players, I will stop tying to "equalize". Fair is fair.
  16. Can you be more specific? Suspecting the worst of people again, I see? Lest you forget, please remind yourself just who it was that came with an olive branch first? It sure as hell wasnt you....So much for being rejuvenated I still love you, B, you can't change that!
  17. Where were you when I was sounding the Bells of Worry first series of the year because I recognized something (a lot of things to be precise) wasn't quite right? That's right- you were still riding your precious "everything is alright" bandwagon...Humbling isn't it? Where were you when I was ripping everyone (read: the very players you purport I unfairly let off the hook), but DJ and Loaiza and Marte, to shreds in April-May? I didn;t even bring up the hitting coach issue until this month, for crying out loud...Short memory much? You do know that hitting is extremely individual, high-maintanence thing, and that young fastball hitters are especially susceptable? What do you think the role of a good hitting coach is as far as the team like the Sox is concerned? Again judging by the huge chasm in 2003 and pre-2003 production, one can only wonder what the hell is really going on....and since I want playoffs and I want them this minute, I am willing for Walker--and any number of personel--to be sacrifized in an experiment. I do not want to see Berkett throw 6 perfect innings against us with his C stuff ever again. (Gee, can you guys be any more wrong about me, what with your meta detours and whatnot....but, let me guess, it's your opinions and I should respect them for better or for worse, right? Giant whatever...)
  18. Of course they are, silly. I assumed such obvious conclusion went without saying among the over-10 crowd... You are underestimating the role of a hitting coach as well discounting past accomplishments of these hitters...And, besides, the hitters aren't fireable.
  19. yes, anything, Emma Thompson would be a better alternative...Forgive me for wanting results and f***ing NOW! The amount of mistakes (forget about pitcher's pitches, we miss those by a foot)Berkett threw which the impotent Sox hitters couldn't drive after first 4 hitters was RIDICULOUS. Worse than I've ever seen in my almost 5 years following baseball.
  20. Once again, only slower: 1. Who do you blame? God, Allah, Bud Selig? Let's not be all "it's our fate to lose"-y about it and watch this catastrophe of a team in pathetic trance, k? It's obvious ours hitters are more high-maintanence and streaky than average and they need a radical approach. 2. The whole "problem-solution" thing is the key, especially for a team that is fighting for a must-make playoffs...I'll give you a hint: it starts with "if you aren't part of the solut....." I am sick and tired watching this Corspeball2003....though Colon certainly didn't help. We are second worst offensive team in the majors or close to it. And the worst team has a pitching ballpark excuse.
  21. I am not a porn freak, but I do dabble in masturbation and promiscuity and all that other good stuff.....I am happy to say the place I will go will not have boring prudes such as yourself...no, but it will have 99% of all the people with whom I would want to associate like Mozart, Churchill, Bankhead, Babe Ruth, Lombardi, Tzvetaeva, Sinatra, my grandfather, Kennedy....well, I am sure you get the idea. Check that, I'd rather not go anywhere after I die- that whole eternity thing is very scary.
  22. Meanwhile Konerko hasn't had an extra base hit in a MONTH. Grotesque.
  23. Been sucking ws61382's dick much lately? He is running out of knee-jerk banalities to throw at opponents who have proven him wrong (as I have with regard to DJ and Nolan Ryan among other things)...and so obviously are you. 1. You are completely wrong about past accomplishments of these hitters. They've all been quite capable, certainly MUCH better than they are this year. Mental aspect is also the reposnsibility of a hitting coach....not that their mechanics and inadequate pitch-recognizion aren't an issue, mind you....Are you even watching the game? 2. You are clearly not grasping the said dichoTOmy, I've received no coherent response yet. Quit hiding behind...what exactly is your reason for not replying again? 3. If you don't think I change my mind, then you have a memory/attention span of a slightly retarded bulldog. Just to remind you here are some of the players about whom I have changed my mind for one reason or another: Lee, DJ. Thomas, Maggs, Gordon, Koch, Konerko, Crede, Borchard, Harris, Burly, Wright, Rowand, Loaiza, Joe Mauer....ah the list is too long to list and everything is documented in concrete evidence- my posts on Soxtalk....Whereas I have yet to see you truly change your mind ONCE. So I wouldn't open your hypocritical mouth so quick if I were you, partna? Nice try baiting me though, Smarmy. Where is your patented insight? Or is that you being all "real" on message boards?
  24. yes, that asnwers the question...typo...didn't expect anything more than that from you.
