"Those who disgaree with my preference"? Since when have you been talking like a Cubbie f*g, maaaan? No, I was referring to the fascist f***s who'd love for me to be in Nick Berg's place if I ever threw the ball back in what they perceive to be *their* ballpark. I was actually being kind in my characterization. And I could care less about drunken peer pressure at Wrigley. It has nothing to do with the Cubs. Or pressure. f*** them, I do as I please.

Hey don't get carried away now. Take it step by step. Sox still have to make an offer - and no I am not talking about a phantom, lip-service "offer" that KW may pull off for publicity sake. Then again, with Sox luck.....Unit's will lose 7 mph the week after putting on our jersey or something.

If catching a MLB-issue ball #5653872022 hit by an enemy, and then building a shrine for it at home makes you feel better about yourself, then YOU have even bigger problems.....right back atcha. I'd rather give it to a kid MY way....When was the last time YOU gave it to a kid?

Any more amusing non-sequiturs?

This I totally agree with. Fake baseballs? Talk about having your cake and eating it too and all that.

It's so anti-Wrigley, it's not even funny. When the yahoos do it over there, it seems so out of place. SS could use another tradition, esp. the one as place-appropriate as that. I am glad to have been of help. I guess this is where we disgaree, eh?

EXACTLY!!! A kid ends up getting the ball ANYWAY - and instead of some stranger handing it to him, it's done by his (new) hero Carlos or Magglio or Aaron. I am really helping to create special memories for the kid by throwing it back to the player to hand it to him. A good person is what I am

Didn't mean YOU personally, Critic. Help my enjoyment of the game? Yes, it would......as would a lot of thing I normally like to do or would like to do during a game. You're gonna define how I need to enjoy the game for me? I don't think so. To each his own. And catching the ball hit by an opposing player and throwing it back happens once in a blue moon - did it once ("Some drill-rod"? Dave Shills needs some new material ), so it's not as if it's a prerequisite for a quality ball-going experience. But hearing all the reactions here, it only makes me want to do it more. You and others will learn to accept it with time - or find a new park.

With deferred, Randy is due just under 5 Mill this year and 10 the next. Not 8 and 17. Haven't we Sox-talked about it here?
-
It's not about the hitter, but about me. I think it's neat. But if the hitter gets pissed off or if some conformed block-headed white trash doesn't like it? It's a bonus, isn't it? I see no value in a baseball hit by an opposing batter, anyway. I only got to do it once, but will do it again for sure if I ever get a chance to. Which I will. Hopefully, without legal reprecussions.

That bong must have had its own bong. :headshake

....and he won't make it out of the 3rd inning. Rockets down the LF line galore. Again......Pitching inside is not panacea. It only works when you have good stuff and good control - otherwise you're putting the ball in their wheelhouse. Loaiza has had neither in his last 4 starts.

It transcends Wrigleyville. It's the ultimate act of defiance, a giant f***-you to the Man, to say nothing of the actual no-talent assclown who hit it out and is rounding the bases. It is we, the fans, who have the last laugh on the matter. Arhhhh.... Very Sox-ian in spirit -- the practice has been hijacked by the Northsiders for far too long. Time to reclaim it.

Don't know nothin' about no closed threads, but I do remember overhearing some schmuckaroo say this puzzling little thing: Does anyone know what was said in the now-infamous and defunct MLB thread mbeeeeer is refering to? PM me if you know it. Thanks.

Nothing beats the good ol' fascist time at the ballpark

I did see the replay. He didn't try to elevate it/uppercut it (as he did all Cubs series long, for instance). He got a breaking ball middle-in, re-routed his hands and slapped it to RF. By a Sox player's standard, that was a good at bat.
-
And I should give a flying f*** about what you think I ought to do with the ball why again?
-
Yes, because casual sex, esp. with co-eds, is a bad thing....Uh-huh. Of course, people who spent big bucks to go to the park/neighborhood for - GASP! - entertainment and leisure are evil......and those who barely cough up $5 on half-rice nights, staying glued to their seats, b****ing and moaning and charting every pitch for some unknown to anyone reason - they are somehow worth more as fans and as human beings, you see.....
-
Wait a sec, I thought you didn't care about the Northsiders, their customs or their team. I thought one could be a Sox fan and not a Cub-hater at the same time.... Where's anger coming from, then? I mean, everyone knows that all great Sox fans, including Julie Sweica, love the Wave - why shouldn't they throw the ball back to show their displeasure? What do they need with a ball hit by Ronnie Belliard? What say you?
-
Then what do you call Edmonds, Jones, Rowand and Kotsay' arms? Gun'licious?
-
You're right, I didn't want to mention the wrist thing because I've said it so many times already, it may come off as if I am making excuses for the guy. Which I kinda am. Reed has the eye, coordination, mechanics and just the right amount of strenght and quickness to hit for some power, no question. I have no idea who started the "Reed is nothing but a glorified Caruso" myth. Probably RDIVALDI. But he will not be the 30-40 HR hitter Blalock is - and that's a good thing IMO if it means he spanks a lot of "extra" singles, doubles, triples and draws walks. I remember Edgar Martinez hitting something like 20 HR but driving in 140+ runs a few years back. Some people actually thought Greg Vaughn was a better slugger than Edgar that year because of the HR disparity between the two. :headshake

Don't speak of the future that way. To think, I was gonna include Arnie in the Randy Johnson offer.
