  1. I disagree. If they don't trade all of his salary it will be for a better prospect, thus it would be worth it.
  2. Valid point. I just think the core is young enough to have an extended window. They don't need stars in the upper minors now they need it 2 years when these players are going to get too expensive or old.
  3. It remains to be seen if the league wide view of Rodon is correct. I can see why the Sox wouldn't want to tie themselves to a pitcher even just this year that hasn't pitched a full year in awhile. It's a huge risk to count on him for the year. Like I said with Kimbrel, even if they get a Class A flyer on him it costs nothing
  4. sure. That's one philosophy. I would rather get as many shots in the playoffs as possible to win as opposed to selling out for one or two shots. Baseball is so fickle with pitching injuries and hitters having off years that I prefer the long game. I understand your point and it's valid, I just prefer a different one.
  5. Not really. Neither piece is was an integral part of the future and they were getting the best bullpen arm available. Didn't work but he was the best pitcher available.
  6. Not if they don't want either of them. You know the only reason they picked up Kimbrel's option is to trade him. Even if it's for a Class A flyer they lose nothing by picking up the option.
  7. Shoving the chips into the middle guarantees a shorter window. I would prefer they slow play and extend the window.
  8. I thought it was, The FO know more about Rodon than you.
  9. True. But I don't think as much the date as it is a strategy to wait out the market. It will depend on how quickly others sign.
  10. Don't think Boras is going to advise signing that quickly. His usual MO is to wait out the market, no matter the offer.
  11. Ouch, I wonder what the complications were.
  12. With Boras as his agent he will not be signing anytime soon.
  13. I always lean towards pitching. There is never enough pitching due to the higher rate of injuries.
  14. Boras is pissed his executive committee didn't block the ratification. He is not talking to the owners.
  15. I saw him play shortstop so he can't be too bad in RF./green
  16. I'm hoping they get one more reliever to make that less likely. With Hendriks and Graveman already from the right side it could allow Lopez to spot start. Crochet may get a couple of short spot starts as well.
  17. Or Lopez. If they sign Rodon, it will essentially be a 6 man rotation. The 6 th man will take many spots starts to rest Kopech and Rodon.
  18. Possible. It will be interesting to see teams manipulate the rule once they have time to work with it.
  19. I could see that. That would work for everyone.
  20. The key to signing Rodon is how many years it will take. With his history a 4 or 5 year deal would be awful.
  21. Ah, it's good to be back to the discussion of how awful the White sox FO is.
  22. But in this scenario he is already up for 1/2 a season and he begin the next season n the roster so they don't gain much more control of the player. If they wait the next July, they gain an extra year.
  23. Reading the new agreement, I wonder if the new service time rule will backfire. Since the only oy the top few of the ROY finishers get the time, will teams keep the players down longer so he won't win the award? I don't see the draft pick compensation helping much because teams can only be in the top 10 every other year for small market teams and every third year for big market teams.
  24. Any rumors or has it all been complaining how cheap the Sox will be and how bad they will lose trades?
  25. Sorry. Fat fingers. I meant 220. 10 under the first tax level.
