  1. Well considering they are playing all 162, it's not much a win. It would be if they don't play 162.
  2. Thanks, I didn't hear the former just the latter.
  3. Ok. Those both help a little. At least there are some incentives. The lottery was top 6 picks, correct?
  4. Ya don't say. Boras tried his best to extend the lockout.
  5. I thought the lawsuits were for COVID related items? Or were there multiple lawsuits discussed?
  6. That's what I thought.
  7. How were service time manipulation and tanking derailed?
  8. Congratulations on a great birthday present!
  9. Boras and his group. He did say he wanted to wait another week because the owners are giving in. He appears to be right so far.
  10. Thus was in previous proposals so that qualify as a last minute item.
  11. Want to take wagers that the union won't approve it?
  12. This is somewhat irrelevant or stating the obvious. Of course anything the owners propose is for reducing costs. Just as anything the players propose is to increase salary and benefits for them.
  13. The biggest issue seems to be the union wants an increasing pool of money for pre-arb and the owners want a flat rate. Can't really split that.
  14. Of course, it's posturing. That is all part of the negotiations. It's frustrating but that's negotiations.
  15. Interesting that the deadline went from after the owners get their money Nov. 15 to before they get their money July 25.
  16. People just don't read. Each of those final offers was tied to a specific event, ie, this is the final offer before this will occur.
  17. It does because if it gets past the point of 162 games, they will need to start negotiating if the players get paid for and get service time for 162. The players will want to get paid and service time for games they didn't play. You're right where it doesn't change the current topics but those additional topics will go to the forefront for the union.
  18. Sure it is. Each one of those final offers was for a specific event they planned out. The first one was for the start of spring training. The next one was for opening day to start on time. The current one is get be able to fir 162 into a reasonable timeframe. Each "deadline" is calculated for games and season. They understand it all too well. They are willing to sacrifice games that don't generate them much revenue early in the season.
  19. Interesting discussion with David Sampson on the radio yesterday. He said that new owners can spend wildly for 5 years due to some depreciation, tax regulations. you don't see the real spending habits of the owners until after 5 years.
  20. They are. Everyone is just looking for a person to blame. The owners aren't idiots. They know more than Manfred the issues with cancelling games. They know they situation for each team. David Sampson, a previous exec with the Marlins under Loria was quoting the situation of each team from 2017 when he arranged the sale of the team. They all know all of it. They are just split between the high revenue and low revenue teams. This is where Manfred has failed. To try to get a consensus. Or at least 23 votes.
  21. Can't argue with that.
  22. Doesn't Congress have better things to do than mediate a dispute in an entertainment industry.
