6/5- Sox at Twins doubleheader, 3:10
Yeah, the TV money would be a little harsh. The trade restriction wouldnt allow the acquisition of a good quantity of young players. Thats why i thought a monetary penalty would disvourage being awful while still allowing teams to rebuild with young players.

I was talking with some UK friends about competitiveness in sports. They couldnt understand the tanking idea. I explained the benefits while agreeing its bad for the sport. We were trying to come up with a way to discourage this practice for the benefit of the sport albeit while heavily imbibing. Taking the idea of lower division in soccer, what if teams that lose more than 90 games lose any monetary compensation from the league but retain the player and draft advantages. This way they can still rebuild but it will discourage being truly awful.

I agree. He will be a dynamic, refreshing player to watch.

I disagree. When putting together a winning team you need players with varied skill sets. Not everyone should be high power high strikeout guys. Teams need the high OBP type as well. There arent enough high OBP and high slugging guys around.

I still think you are over estimating his power production.

Depends on your definition of success. The team winning the game, runs allowed or the pitcher having good stats? Things like FIP are based purely on strikeouts and walks so of course more strikeouts make his FIP look good.

It really appears it's his balance. He loses it to the gloves side which makes him fly open.

He won't. But as long as the power comes from elsewhere on the field, I don't think it will be an issue when you look at his OBP skills.

I've got a feeling that he will spend very little time/skip AAA.

Probably another couple of weeks. Usually 4-6 weeks with a grade 2-3 strain. He should be able to play in the minors.

Reaggravated an Oblique strain. Done for the year.

I think more to the point of the poster isnt that he is phyically mature. Its that his father had him on a better workout regimen than most kids his age. This is why he has less room to improve than others not that he was naturally physically more mature.

Hostetlers drafts seem to focus on plus hit tool with a good walk rate.

He has that same lack of follow through that Rodon has. I really dislike that . It makes command an issue.

Part of it is also that most of these players wont be seen by the average fan for 3-4 years if at all. Unlike the other sports where they will be seen the next year.

That was entertaining.

Agreed, I would love to see the Sox be able to use all 3. Just curious as to how it may work as I havent seen 3B reports on Madrigal. I dont know if he can slug 470 though.

Its tough to trade that up the middle power. Plus Madrigal is considered a pick that is near MLB ready. No more than 2 years.

Who is he going to displace, Moncada or Anderson? Most reports have him as a passable SS. I havent seen any 3B reports and most people like more power at 3B.

I love the high contact, high OBP guys. i stated before I would his swing. Most fans are focused on power today and I don't think he going to hit for much power.

So when he is hitting 5 HR a year and Slugging .350 everyone will cheer right?
