  1. QUOTE(rangercal @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 03:46 AM) he got one in the first game last year I remember it well. That SB was the target of many jokes and wisecracks throught the season.
  2. He'll be on the trailing end of a double steal, at least.
  3. QUOTE(BridgeportHeather @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 03:05 AM) Ummm, the only guy who's out for the season is Deng. Curry WILL be back, and Chandler isn't gonna miss any more time than a Full House re-run! That's hardly much depth we're going to be missing... They have no clue when Curry will be back.
  4. QUOTE(BridgeportHeather @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 03:37 AM) Not to mention Roberto Hernandez and Carlos Castillo...MAN we had studly players back then...Where have they all gone to now??? The Buffet?
  5. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 03:17 AM) My girlfriend actually cries from watching that show. Then I tell her where dog bones come from. You're all a heart.
  6. I think they'd pitch Freddie on 3 days rest.
  7. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2004 @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 02:56 AM) Well, even if he doesn't, one of the great things about this team is the depth. We've got different guy's stepping up every night. Even Adrian Griffin had a good game tonight. I still think we have enough to beat the Raps at home. That depth is fading fast. Sooner or later, they'll have to start feeling it.
  8. QUOTE(BridgeportHeather @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 02:37 AM) I predict the Sox will start the season 3-1, with Buehrle and Duque getting wins in that mix... Damn. You're GOOD!
  9. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2004 @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 02:44 AM) The Raps are 9-29 on the road. Chandler is for sure not playing? He said he doubted he'd be able to play.
  10. No Chandler. No Curry. No Deng. Easy win?
  11. QUOTE(BridgeportHeather @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 02:03 AM) I don't know if any of you have noticed this; but, his defense never was the same once Sugar Ray got traded to San Francisco. Durham made Jose a better fielder (and sometimes made UP for his blunders). Anyways, here's hoping that he blasts the Cubs this year when the teams meet. Actually, Jose's defense seemed to improve when Robbie Alomar was playing beside him.
  12. QUOTE(danman31 @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 02:17 AM) People said Prior had perfect mechanics and he has become a mess, granted no serious arm injuries, yet. Prior's been Dusty-fied.
  13. QUOTE(BridgeportHeather @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 02:23 AM) If they were trained in their early years to go the distance, it wouldn't even BE a risk! Consider that back in those days, there was 16 ML teams and now there are 30. Pitching is a valuable commodity in baseball. How many guys from that era never made it because their arms were dead at 22 or 23 years of age? It's more than just building up these pitchers when they are young. Arms do wear out. Some just happen sooner than others.
  14. QUOTE(BridgeportHeather @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 02:21 AM) The Assistant Principal of Student Affairs (huge Sox fan) at the school I work at told me he didn't trust our starting rotation, and I tried rationalizing with him to no avail. :banghead There are definite question marks, so his concerns are justifiable.
  15. This infatuation with pitch counts in today's game is due to one thing .... $$$$$$$$$$$ By the time a team develops a good starting pitcher and then signs him to a multiyear, multimillion dollar contract, they don't want to risk their investment any more than possible.
  16. Don't forget the W part .... Wins and White Sox
  17. QUOTE(BridgeportHeather @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 02:16 AM) Not just in the DIVISION...The Sox have the best winning percentage in the AL. Milwaukee remains the only undefeated team. And may the Brew Crew stay that way for a few more days.
  18. QUOTE(orangekrush88 @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 06:51 PM) No SIU and Illini a 5?!?!? Way too early to predict, come on this is just useless. Useless. That sums it up nicely.
  19. QUOTE(BridgeportHeather @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 02:05 AM) Wouldn't Timo have to clear waivers before he could go to Charlotte? My guess would be yes, and he'd probably also have to agree to the demotion.
  20. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 01:57 AM) Well now you're just talking crazy Seriously though, I don't really mind Timo - he is clutch, whatever that is worth - but clutch does not mean a thing if you can't produce otherwise, you're a 4th/5th OFer, and you are getting paid $1 mill. That's about the only thing I have against Timo. Why is that talking crazy? Just curious as to your line of thought.
  21. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 01:45 AM) "So much for Ozzie [Guillen's] speed ball," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said of his Chicago counterpart. "They're hitting home runs already on us." Is it just me or are we still heavily reliant on the HR. I know Hawk and DJ keep talking about small ball non-stop but we have 3 wins and 2 of them were because of HR's...(and pitching but talking hitting wise). Idonno I like Pods stolen bases and no one seems to be really swinging for the fences with the exception of Dye's HR but he hit it so cant complain. Just wanted to say we still seem like a HR reliant team to me. Why does everyone think we ever planned on abandoning HR's? We have 6 guys that can hit 20+ HR's. What we did was add pieces that are capable of manufacturing runs in Pods and Iguchi, worked with some of our holdovers in ST on that aspect of the game and increasing our depth of quality pitching. The ability to play small ball is an asset, but that doesn't mean we aren't going to have adaquate power.
  22. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 01:43 AM) The order of the rotation is not a huge deal. Jose Contreras started out the year in the 3rd spot in the rotation; he is not our 3rd best starter. Some may argue he is not our 4th best starter, or even our 5th best starter...hell, there are arguments that he is not out 6th best starter. But that point is moot. He started the 3rd game of the year and will likely stay there until he is demoted/traded/injured. He started the 3rd game of the year for two reasons: 1. He's been good at home and against Cleveland. 2: El Duque is a much better road & big game pitcher. It certainly wasn't because Ozzie considered him our number 3 starter. Not saying you implied that, by any means, but several people have.
  23. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 01:41 AM) Leave it to good old Stoney to tell it like it is. LOL!!!!! I've always liked Steve Stone, even when he was spouting Cublove. That was his job. But the man knows his s*** and I'd love to see him replace DJ in the Sox booth.
  24. QUOTE(rangercal @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 01:15 AM) Timo May see Charlotte this year. I doubt that. I believe they'd trade him before sending him down. He's done nothing to play himself out of the majors.
