QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 09:10 PM) They aren't not cheap shots. It's just the truth. Do we have to read about it every other f***ing post? :headshake -

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 09:08 PM) Personally, I'm very happy with Cuddyer at 3b in regards to the Sox. He's messed up a couple of plays this series that Koskie would have easily made in the past. The Twins infield used to kill the Sox because of the great range of their players. It's not nearly the same anymore. I've only been able to watch tonight's game, and he's flashed some leather since I've been watching. -

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 09:08 PM) It's the 6th game of the year, chill. But we've only won 4 of the previous 5. -

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 09:06 PM) Well its all about comparison, he doesnt kick the ball all over like Cruddy. That wasn't an invitation for another cheap shot at Crede. -

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 08:46 PM) Heh, at least you didn't deny it. All I am saying is that it's going to be a long season if we have to hear about Crede sucking everytime he makes a bad play or has a horrible at-bat. Chill out on the bashing, we won the damn series, it's the 6th game of the season and you guys are already calling for people's head. Ain't that the tryuth. April 10th and I'm already tired of it. -
Jay Williams coming back to the NBA next year?

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 04:09 PM) He already has said that a couple of teams have given him offers. Most notably was Houston. The Bulls won't bring him back, but I think they should. I think at worst right now, he'll be Chris Duhon and he'll be cheaper since he's coming off of injury. I like Duhon and Pargo, but I think even Jay coming back will be as good as those guys. I don't think he'll be the top PG in the game like so many thought he would be, but he'll be a slightly above average PG in the league. Until Jay can prove he can make it back to the NBA, I'll keep Duhon. -
That stupid arrogant f***. I really hope that piece of s*** ends up in San Quentin.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 08:21 AM) YAS, I know you're trying to keep things in check, and that's a solid rational move, but I will offer up that old chestnut that "you can't win the division in April and May, but you CAN lose the division in April and May". What's nice about this is the confidence factor. You get the Sox thinking that "YEAH, we can beat these guys in their own house" and you get inside the Twins' heads a little bit, that can only be good for the Sox. A good start is vital for the Sox because of the changes that have been made. A slow start would have everyone second-guessing and then they might start pressing, trying to do too much. I like what I've seen so far, now I want to see them keep this level of starting pitching up! I don't disagree with anything so say. As you mentioned, I'm just trying to keep things in check. I'm thrilled with our start, and they are big games because they are against our main division rivals.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 02:16 PM) Did i say that we couldnt hit the HR... im just saying this team wasnt supposed to rely on the HR like last year and so far it has with 2 wins coming from HR's and the 3rd we only scored 1 run so... I'm sorry. I wasn't tergeting you, per se. It's just the whole small ball thing. Ww aren't going back to the '59 Sox type of game. We've been focused all offseason on adding the ability to manufacture runs, which KW has apparently done. But it's so much more than that. It's pitching and defense as much as speed and contact. Perhaps even more so. Look at Jermaine Dye. He's a very solid defensive right fielder. He's also a smart baseball player. He's not the type that will carry a team, but his all around ability to play the game, and not just "Thump" will certainly help carry the load. That's what this is about, more than small ball, is getting baseball players that know how to play the game of baseball in all facets.

Unless you finish the above with "without a left arm" then it's not a true statement.

I'm not counting on the Twins just packing it in because of an injury. Seems to me they've overcome some injuries in the past.

QUOTE(TheBigHurt35 @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 09:00 PM) Not sure if 10 hits and only 1 K over 6 innings qualifies as a quality start, but he did only allow three runs. That ain't bad for a #5. 6 innings. 3 runs. That's a quality start. Five in a row for our starting rotation!

QUOTE(Mathew @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 04:24 PM) O.k I'll bite, he's done nothing to play himself outta the majors? A.285 OBP last year is more then enough. Timo did an adequate job as an extra outfielder last year. You don't expect triple crown numbers from a bench player. He filled his role and contributed to the team. They won't send Timo down. They'll trade him if at all possible.

C'mon guys. Get a grip on reality. We haven't established dominace over anything. We are playing good ball against our top division rivals and getting off to a good start. That's great. That's important. That's better than the alternative. But we are only 5 games into a 162 game schedule.

We'll take all the help we can get.

QUOTE(greg775 @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 11:41 PM) Good to be off to the nice start. Means nothing except we're happy. And it is mighty nice to beat teams in our division. If we can keep winning series, dat's what it takes, though a sweep of the twinks would be awesome. On the contrary. It means plenty as we are beating the teams in our division. Not only that, but we are beating the teams that the "experts" say will finish above us in the standings. These games are big.

Jason, I think the base only forum is great idea, even if Texsox suggested it.

5 games, 5 starting pitchers, 5 quality starts! This team appears to have a good mix of pitching, speed, defense, power and small ball abilities.

QUOTE(beck72 @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 06:55 AM) If the Sox are counting on Joe Crede to carry them, or need him to, they're in a s***load of trouble. The sox need him to have a .250 avg, and hit with some power while playing solid defense at 3B. He should be able to do this. I know everyone is worried after 4 games, as he's hitting under .100. But can we let the "trade talk" rest a little, drop the torches and pitchforks, and put away the tar and feathers until after April or so?!?! Stop being a reactionary!
-
QUOTE(beck72 @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 04:54 AM) Most importantly, a lot of these teams don't have decent backup options if their closers fail. The Sox have a few. After watching Hermanson throw against the Twins, he'd be first in line if shingo doesn't improve. But I think Shingo will be alright, as long as he can throw his slow stuff for strikes. It is reassuring to have Hermanson available in case Shingo faulters.

QUOTE(BridgeportHeather @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 03:54 AM) Care to explain why you think we'll lose to Orlando AT HOME, when we've won both games against Orlando so far this season and are unstoppable at home at his present moment? Cuz he wanted to piss you off! -
