  1. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Feb 18, 2005 -> 01:54 PM) Come on Yasny, like half of what I write is a joke on here. I know it's always a bad joke that only I laugh at it, but come on. It just seems to me that you are always bashing the USA in some form or another. Whether it's our president or our policies or whatever. As a US citizen, I take offense to that and will call you out on it every time. Now, if you want to exchange emails and talk it out, I'd be perfectly willing to do that. maybe we can come to a middle ground or understanding. But .... since I work nights, I'm getting ready to hit the sack, so this exchange will have to take place some other time. I'll honestly keep an open mind and discuss this with you, though. Fair enough?
  2. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Feb 18, 2005 -> 01:49 PM) Wouldn't this be considered an editorial and therefore not neccesarily supported, but accpeted by foxnews. Besides with the ratings that O'Reilly gets there is no way they ever wouldn't support him. So while I'll make my own decisions on whether or not Hezbollah is terrorist, I'm sure not going to listen to that f***er. If I saw O'Reilly in person I think it would be my duty under god to slap him like a b****. You, of all people, resorting to violence. Hypocrit.
  3. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 18, 2005 -> 01:46 PM) I stand corrected. I completely forgot about his rant against Cubs fans. That's ok. The Cubs and their fans are extremely forgetable.
  4. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 18, 2005 -> 01:43 PM) God, that takes me back, greatest rant ever! Most truthful s*** ever said by anyone involved in sports. Lee Elia holds the honor of having the greatest rant ever.
  5. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Feb 18, 2005 -> 01:09 PM) I'm just being a smart-ass. Status quo, I see.
  6. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Feb 18, 2005 -> 01:41 PM) That's a shame. I know. But I have to check it in case someone says something intelligent.
  7. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Feb 18, 2005 -> 01:14 PM) I'd love to see some of the "art work" being done after one of these events.... I'd suggest wearing latex gloves.
  8. This thread totally sucks. Just saying.
  9. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Feb 18, 2005 -> 01:27 PM) Since we all love to analyze, I figured I'd come up with a White Sox edition of Fact or Fiction again this season. If you're not familiar with the concept (as seen on Sportscenter) I am going to list a series of phrases and you, as the analyst get to respond with either Fact or Fiction. I'd also like to encourage a bit of justification for each of your answers, otherwise they'll probably be knocked down by others like a scarecrow is knocked down by a fierce wind storm. So, here we go. Fact or Fiction: A White Sox starting pitcher will win 20 games this season. Fact or Fiction: Willie Harris will be on the White Sox opening day roster. Fact or Fiction: Orlando "El Duque" Hernandez will toss more than 140 innings this season. Fact or Fiction: Shingo Takatsu will record more than 30 saves this season. Fact or Fiction: Scott Podsednik will set a career high in both batting average and OBP this season. Fact or Fiction: Frank Thomas will play in more than 120 games this season. Fact or Fiction: Carl Everett will get more than 350 at-bats this season. Fact or Fiction: A White Sox starter other than Mark Buehrle or Freddy Garcia will throw a complete game shutout this season. And finally....Fact or Fiction: The White Sox will win the American League Central in 2005. 1. Fiction. But 4 of the 5 will win at least 15. 2. Fiction. He'll be traded. 3. Fact. El Duque will be healthy all year. He's fully recovered from his surgery. 4. Fact. He knows how to get hitters out. 5. Fiction. Spod will not come sloce to his '03 batting average. 6. Fact. I think Thomas will be ready to go from the opening bell. 7. Fact. he's too good of a hitter to keep on the bench. 8. Fact. Any of the other 3 are capable. I'd bet on Contreras doing it first. 9. Fact. Starting pitching, Frank Thomas and Iguchi will lead this team to the promised land.
  10. Earl f***ing Weaver was da man! LOL
  11. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 18, 2005 -> 01:14 PM) Just a question, but did you try US Cellular Field? That was my first thought as well.
  12. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Feb 18, 2005 -> 12:16 PM) Arizona got Jose Cruz Jr. last week. I forgot about that.
  13. QUOTE(winodj @ Feb 18, 2005 -> 12:42 PM) Shut up, that's why! LOL ... I just had to refer that one time.

    Religious Debate

    QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 18, 2005 -> 08:23 AM) Some parts of Christianity believe that baptism is essential in being connected to God. In fact many things that Christ did in the bible were to serve as examples of what future generations were to do. A good example is the last supper/communion. Jesus had no reason to partake in a remembrence of himself. He held the last supper to teach the disiples how to do it, and how to teach others. I think the baptism falls under this category. It could also be viewed in another humanizing of Christ. A big emphasis of things on earth is that he had to live like man so that he could redeem them. Baptism was one of many aspects of that. He couldn't be considered human if he didn't partake in their rites. (which BTW is one of the reasons that I believe Christ was probably married, but that is debate for a different day) I agree with you on Christ being married, and for exactly the reason you cite. To say nothing od the fact that a 30 year old unmarried man in that time and that place would have been scorned and not taken seriously.
  15. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Feb 18, 2005 -> 12:39 PM) That's a shame. Care to elaborate?
  16. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Feb 18, 2005 -> 12:36 PM) You've never broken any laws??? I know I have. I have never comitted a felony.
  17. I agree that Bill O'Reilly is not "news". He's a commentator and does not claim to be a news anchor. Therefore, he does have a bias. Which is why I can't understand why people get so upset with him (or Rush, or Mike Reagan, or Sean Hannity, etc) for expressing their opinions.
  18. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Feb 18, 2005 -> 12:18 PM) Felons who have served their time and been released. Certain states allow some people who have served their time and convicted of certain felonies to get rights back like voting while other states (I know of Florida is one that doesn't allow voting -- because Jeb Bush has been slapped around by courts for trying to deny people who were felons, got their voting rights back from the government and then moved to Florida) don't allow voting rights to be returned after serving time. A felon is a felon is a felon. Sorry, but I have no sympathy for criminals. If they "paid their debt to society", fine ... hire them. But citizenship in this country is a privilege, and these people pissed that privilege away. All they had to do was obey the law.
  19. What the hell is an "ex-felon"? Either you have been convicted of a felony or you haven't.
  20. QUOTE(Chisoxmatt @ Feb 18, 2005 -> 12:00 PM) Why does it have 20 bids? He writes a creative story on ebay and makes 20 bucks off of a frickin puppet. Who is stupid enough to bid on this. Anyone that would lick a coffe table?
  21. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 14, 2005 -> 07:26 AM) Ditto. It is awesome to see some of the backbones of this site start to return. I guess it isn't the return of the robins that starts spring, its pitchers and catchers reporting and everything that leads too. The real sign of spring is the sound of the bat hitting the ball.
  22. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Feb 13, 2005 -> 10:40 AM) well than do what any good person would do. Dont post unless something constructive will come out of it. you dont like it go over it and say why. Ok. I'll spell it out for you. :rolly To say you don't mind seeing the team falter so the kids can get a chance to play is ridiculous.
  23. This is a nothing trade. Escobar wasn't going to make the team. I doubt that Owens ever makes the majors. If he does, great. Don't hold your breath.
  24. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Feb 12, 2005 -> 03:35 PM) i actually dont mind if our team falters this year. I mean yes id like us to succeed but if les say Podsenick has a down year or Jermaine Dye really sucks that just leaves a spot open for Brian Anderson and if El Duque gets injured next year or Contreras still sucks we have a spot for B-Mac. I know i should be optimistic but im not 2 sold on this team so while i would love for them to succeed if they failure ill be ok knowing that those 2 guys arent far away hopefully and that sweeney and fields will be behind them. I fail to see any logic in this post.
  25. QUOTE(TheBigHurt35 @ Feb 12, 2005 -> 10:19 PM) Agreed that most women would break off their engagement the minute that their fiance' suggested something like this. A word of advice to all single and engaged men: Do not mess with your woman's wedding plans. It's her day, not yours. Do what she wants to do. Which is like every other day thereafter.
