It's always sweet to beat the Baby Blues .... But to have Miggy Slam be the big blow is awesome. And poor Sammy, he needs to learn how to play that sun in Wrigley.
Bunting. As far as the Sox are concerned, that's the red, white and blue stuff they hang around Yankee Stadium for the World Series.
You'll not see any bunting in US Cell.
Well, I don't imaging the Bulls will be trading JWill or Crawford now... Since JWill didn't have enough sense to keep his multi-million dollar asset off of a motorcycle.
Congrats from me also, sf1... and don't worry about cw "correcting" you... He's just sharing a little of his vast amount of knowledge with you. Pay attention, because he's right on the money.
Back on the original topic.... Loaiza, as of this point in time, does deserve to start the All Star game. He has been the best pitcher in the AL, bar none. However, all these guys have about 4 starts left so the issue is really moot at this point.
To take it a step further.... It effects all of us whether we are baseball fans or not. Every time you buy a six pack of beer, shaving cream, whatever.... the cost of those are higher do to advertising dollars spent on major league baseball. Anyway you look it at .... owners gread, players greed, whatever angle you choose... it all comes down to us.. the consumer.
As much as it hurts to face up to, we are actually helping pay Sammy Sosa's salary.
I hope some of these guys are actually baseball players.... The type of guys that can hit, throw, run the bases with intelligence, bunt, hit and run, hit behind the runner, throw to the right base, hustle. Nah.... I must be living in a dream world.
I read something about Doby not being around for the '59 Series. Veeck sent to the minors on a rehab assignment, was going to call him back up before the Sept. 1st deadline. While playing in the minors, Doby broke his ankle sliding into third after legging out a triple. That ended his season and is why he was not on the Series roster.
Also, I think Veeck hired him as the Sox hitting coach, before he took over a manager. I'm thinking he was our hitting coach for the 77' Southside Hit Men. Good point though, with the kind of success with a team that was supposed to do nothing, it seems he would have had several more chances to be a hitting coach.
It was a bizarre night. All of the above incidents.... Hampton pitching into the 8th with a no hitter, then Smoltz, of all people, blowing a save.
Of course, the fact that no one on our team can get a sacrifice bunt accomplished, that's not bizarre at all.
In any of the speculations of a Colon to Boston deal, Sanchez's name has been mentioned. Well, here's the scoop on this guy.
Freddy Sanchez
Let's go get this guy!
I'll tell ya, folks. This game tonight, in my opinion, is a very big game for this team. If we can win this one, we will have taken 3 out of 4 from a very good Boston team. After Buehrle's gem the other night, and if we win this one.... it could prove to be a turning point. A real confidence builder.
