  1. You know, I really hope you are right and I am wrong. However, I noticed the NL pitchers attempted to pitch Frank differently than AL have been. The NL guys kept going away, away, away .... The AL pitchers know that they can bust him inside and get him out. When interleague play is done, I believe Frank will go back to being a frustrated ex-great hitter. But PLEASE Frank .... Prove me wrong, big guy!

    Report

Can I assume that this is NOT Brian Anderson, middling starter for the Cleveland INdians? Hey with KW at the controls, it's a legit question! that was a berry barry nasty comment about KW. Yes, it was ... but I had to laugh!
  3. I couldn't have stated that any better.
  4. I think it's obvious Jose is in the decline of his career.
  5. I have done a very thorough job of totally erasing that season from my memory.
  6. What you are shoving in everyone's face is your own misguided, idiotic lunacy. Sometimes it's better to say nothing and appear foolish, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.
  7. Now we are starting to get to my earliest Sox memories.
  8. Its hard to shop at Tiffany's when you don't have any money. KW is strapped financially by JR penny pinching. Therefore, that means there are certain players that KW just can't go after because of their salary. If your Brian Cashman and Steinbrenner gives you 150 million to play with chances are you are going to put together a better roster then KW with his 50 million. The big market teams still rule this game, and although the Sox are in a big market JR hasn't shown the willingness to spend the money needed to improve these team. There is little parity and small market teams like Oakland and Minnesota are exceptions and not the norm. I am one of the few KW supporters, or to put it better I don't think he is as bad as most Sox fans make him out to be. Everyone points to the Ritchie trade(which was a terrible trade), but forget the little moves that have worked out(Loaiza, Jimenez, Colon, Olivo, ect.). The fact is that KW has put together a talented enough roster to challenge for the division, but unexpected slumps have hurt this team. Is the players struggles KW fault? Give the guy a break he has been better then most people give him credit for. I certainly do think it's KW's fault that for the past 3 seasons we've had a line up consisting, basically, of DH's that have to wear gloves every half inning. Even the players who are fairly decent defensively, are basically the same type of players offensively. We have too many right handed pull hitters in the lineup. Too many guys that can't run the bases very fast or very well. Too many guys that are adaquet, at best, defensively. You'd think that somewhere along the line he'd realize we need a least one LH power/RBI guy in our everyday lineup. Damn right it's KW's fault.

Why does this not surprise me. What a shame.

    Age difference

Last year at 44 years old, I dated a 32 year old lady. Recently, I dated a very pretty lady that I thought was 52, but it turns out she was 59. *rme* ..... And this weekend, I have a date with a 27 year old lady. So that's 14 years older and soon to be 18 years younger.
  12. I have a Frank Thomas prediction here. He'll go back to hitting at his .250 clip now that he will be facing A.L. pitching again. I know we have the series coming up against the Cubs... include those if you wish, because the are fairly familiar with Frank by now.
  13. With the bat, DJ has been performing well. It's the other aspects of his game, or the lack thereof, that I am concerned about. If he would focus on defense, baserunning, etc. as much as he does on hitting, he'd be a very good ballplayer. Right now, he is still marginal, at best. Yes. PK is part of our problem this year. Still, the dude has PROVEN he can hit major league pitching. I am not ready to just give up on this guy.
  14. I'm still waiting for Jiminez to prove to me that he can be the real deal. I'm certainly not anti-Jiminez yet. I'm just not convinced. As for Konerko, he's proven in the past that he can be a solid hitter. I don't give up on a guy for having a bad season. I'm not bashing PK, just like I'm not bashing Buehrle. So, to be honest, I find your anti-Konerko signature as unreasonable as you find the anti-Jiminez posts. But, you are entitled to have and express an opinion just like the rest of us.
  15. It is sad. You hate to see a kid with that much talent have that glitch in his brain that won't let him perform to his capabilities.
  16. Your comments about Mark are getting pretty lame... even for you.
  17. Willis is another of those players the Cubs traded that will haunt them for years to come.
  18. We might do well against the Twins this time around. We are playing better baseball lately. But I really can't see us catching the Twins, unless the bottom falls out for them.
  19. I'll say that Mark Buerhle will be more likely to be on the 2004 All Star team than the Big Hurt.
  20. Corg. You have given me some food for thought on JR. I have liked JR for some reasons and disliked him for others. First, I feel the JR and EE saved the White Sox for Chicago when they bought them, but they scared the hell outta me with the stadium deal and the possibility of them become the "Florida White Sox". You said that JR doesn't want to be "liked" by the fans, that should be all about the team, in his opinion. That is all very commendable on JR's part. However, at times, it seems to me that he adversely influences the public's perception of himself. For example, the Carlton Fisk debacle during the playoffs vs. the Blue Jays. On one hand, by allowing Fisk to remain with the team till he broke the games caught record, though the team was in contention and Pudge was not producing, was a very classy move. On the other, I cannot understand why Pudge and Donn Pall were not allowed to visit the clubhouse that night. It seems like a total lack of respect for a guy that should have been in Cooperstown with "SOX" on his cap, instead of a "B". Fisk isn't the only example of a Sox player that has been disrespected by the team after their days in silver and black have come to an end. Jack McDowell, Lance Johnson and Robin Ventura immediately come to mind. I have theorized the JR doesn't approve of promoting the players themselves as opposed to the team. A "Players come and go, but the team is the thing." mentality, so to speak. Is this because if a player has become an "icon" on the southside, that they would be able to use that as leverage in contract negotiations? I'm not being critical of JR, here. I am legitimately asking these questions in hopes of getting some insight and more understanding of the thinking in the front office.
  21. I thought I saw somewhere in this thread that the plaintiff (sp?) in this case was an innocent bystander. If so, then he wouldn't have been the one who "interacted" with Chad Krueter.
  22. 3 more against Boston, then 6 each against the Cubs and the Twins. There better not be a backslide now. If there is, stick a fork in us.
  23. Nolan Ryans 7 no-hitters and 5000+ K's are awesome, amazing stats. He could on any given day be totally unhittable. However, game in and game out, over the course of a season and season in season out, I'd rather have any of the following pitchers ..... Tom Seaver, Catfish Hunter, Steve Carlton, Bob Gibson, Jim Palmer, Sandy Koufax, Don Drysdale, Juan Marichal, Roger Clemens, Greg Maddux, etc. I have seen Ryan and each of these other ones pitch. No way in hell was Nolan Ryan a superior pitcher to any of these guys. Emphasis on the word "pitcher". Don't get me wrong, Ryan was GREAT. But he was not one of the "Greatest of all time". Before we are all ready to dump Jiminez, I think if would only be fair to give a shot as a SS. That is, afert all, the position at which he has the most experience. We don't know how well he would do, because we haven't seen him play SS.
  24. Rocky!!!!!!!!!!! That is one of my favorite movies ever! hmmm.... tim cury (sp?) all decked out in drag.. nothing turned me on more at the time...... shaking head here. LOL
  25. They must be "doable".
