QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Feb 23, 2012 -> 10:19 AM) Brooks will not becoming back to us. Rogers & Smith have said he will take less money to stay in SF. We will tag Goldson. We will also be cutting or trading Spencer. How would you rate Brooks? He is someone the Packers might take a look at.

QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Feb 23, 2012 -> 09:57 AM) I am prediciting that the 49ers will sign Wallace and Garcon... http://www.csnbayarea.com/blog/niners-talk...amp;feedID=5884 The 49ers will draft a wide receiver. It won't necessarily be in the first round, but they will draft a wide receiver. But, first, the 49ers will sign a couple wide receivers after free agency begins on March 13. The 49ers need to add a wide receiver (or two) who can take some of the heat off Michael Crabtree, who led the team in receptions and receiving yards last season. The market will dictate what the 49ers are able to do in free agency. Last year, they signed Braylon Edwards to a low-risk deal. Edwards got injured early in the season and never produced. He became disengaged and he was released. Remember what the 49ers did last season at cornerback? That could be the template the 49ers use to find a receiver, too. The 49ers drafted a cornerback (Chris Culliver), and they also kicked the tires on some of the top free agents, such as Nnamdi Asomugha and Johnathan Joseph. Once the prices for those players exceeded what they had budgeted for the position, the 49ers moved on. Veteran Carlos Rogers fell through the cracks, and the 49ers landed him on a one-year contract. The 49ers will undoubtedly be interested in receivers Vincent Jackson and the aforementioned Mike Wallace. Chief negotiator Paraag Marathe and Baalke have determined the price at which the 49ers can pay those players while not throwing the salary structure of the entire team out of whack. If the prices get too high, the 49ers will move on to the next player on their list. And who might be a second-tier receiver on their list? One player to keep an eye on his Pierre Garcon. Garcon isn't particularly big (6-foot, 210 pounds), but he's relatively young (turns 26 in August), and he somehow had his best season in 2011 in spite of the Indianapolis Colts' mess at quarterback. Garcon caught 70 passes for 947 yards, averaging 13.5 yards a catch, while grabbing six touchdowns. What about all these guys? Alex Smith Carlos Rogers Dashon Goldson Ted Ginn Josh Morgan Ahmad Brooks

Bears coach Lovie Smith is "unsure" if RT Gabe Carimi (knee surgery) will be ready for the beginning of the team's offseason program.

1. I don't want him to be the voice of the White Sox, I just want him to be a good manager. 2. Not totally, but close enough. 3. I think Dunn will be somewhere in between last year and previous years. 4. Reed, but not right away. Thornton at first. 5. As long as he is healthy.

It could be a rough year, but I'm still excited. Hopefully it's a fun year.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 23, 2012 -> 08:44 AM) That's like a million dollars per drop. As long as he keeps catching touchdowns I could care less about drops.

Packers agreed to terms with TE Jermichael Finley on a two-year, $15 million contract. Huge deal for the Packers. They can now tag and trade Matt Flynn.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 22, 2012 -> 12:50 PM) Still a ridiculous amount. I though the Bears were impressive with their $25 millionish total. And how the heck is Washington on that list? Redskins have kinda cooled on signing free agents. Haynesworth was their last really dumb signing.
-
I thought KC was first, but still 62 million is a lot.
-
Might as well take Dwayne Bowe off the list. He isn't going anywhere. He will either be tagged or sign a long term deal. KC has the most cap space in the NFL.
-
I think he just meant that the other WR won't cost you a first round pick.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 22, 2012 -> 12:27 PM) Jay Zawaski @JayZawaski670 Hearing from a source that it is indeed a concussion for Toews. Apparently suffered early in trip. Unsure of severity. For what it's worth. The source implied that Toews was hiding symptoms. Wouldn't shock me from Toews, but I hesitate to make that accusation based on convo. That's not good.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 21, 2012 -> 02:30 PM) I agree as a long term plan. But the Bears are absolutely in win now mode. They can build toward the future (defense) late in the draft. But the immediate problems (someone to throw the ball to) need to be addressed if you want to take advantage of an aging defense and QB in his prime. And i'm not saying the Bears HAVE to give up a pick and get Wallace. Maybe they can get Vincent Jackson for a better deal. But they can't do what they've done the last few years - sign some guys, hope they pan out, and if not fall back to the s*** on the roster. That's not gonna work next year with both Green Bay and the Lions being more talented and deeper teams. WR is a must for the Bears. You could probably sign a free agent and a draft a WR. Without giving up your first round pick.
-
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 21, 2012 -> 01:17 PM) Yeah, well they also have some hall of fame caliber QB's that can make a good WR better. Greg Jennings and Jordy Nelson would be good if an average QB was throwing to them. If you always think that you can never draft talented players and always have to fix holes by signing big name free agents you are never going to win in the NFL.

Toews to miss game tonight
-
Patriots also have two picks in the first round. They tons of cap room as well. They always seem to have 2 picks in the first round.
-
You would also have to sign him to a crazy deal, because if the deal is not that big the Steelers will just match it. He could end up being the highest paid WR.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 21, 2012 -> 08:37 AM) This whole "mandatory invasive medical procedure before an abortion to shame and humiliate women" in Virginia keeps getting more and more disgusting. http://blogs.villagevoice.com/runninscared...ginia_wants.php "After a certain point, talking to them is pretty much useless. You just have to try and keep them as far away from power over your own life as possible." That pretty much sums it up for me.
