QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 06:32 PM) Just beat Italy and Ghana and they should be in decent shape, correct? Beat Italy and Ghana and the U.S. advances no question, but in that senario (assuming the Czech's win at least 1 of their last 2 games), the U.S. will be the #2 coming out of the pool and will probably have to play Brazil as a result.

Game Thread: Sox @ Rangers, 6:05 Start, Contreras v. Koronka
A.J. with an RBI fielder's choice.....ok. 6-0, 1st and 3rd for Crede.

This Koronka guy f***ing sucks......I wish the Cubs would have kept him.

Some of Pablo's touch with the magic wand seems to have worn off on Konerko, or at least it appeared so on that play.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 03:46 PM) So for someone who knows nothing about soccer, is the US pretty much done already? If not, what do they have to do to advance? To be realistic, they have to beat Italy and Ghana to advance. If they go 2-0, they are a lock to move on, if they win 1 and tie 1....it would come down to goal differential, and the 3-0 loss today REALLY hurts in that regard. In all likelihood, they need to win the next 2. A win over Italy means beat Ghana and your advancing, and a loss to Italy means your done. A tie keeps them alive, but they'd need quite a bit of help.

Roethlisberger injured in motorcycle crash
Hopefully Ben recovers fully from this......and if he does, he's VERY lucky based on how bad the accident sounds like it was. I pray for his recovery, but it's dumb enough to ride a motorcycle, and even DUMBER to do so without a helmet. How many times must people be seriously injured or die before people wake up?

Ozzie Lambasted Over Weekend. Do you Agree??
QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 02:43 PM) Ozzie WASNT DEFENDING THE USERS. The Radio people acted as if he did. All Ozzie said was Grimsley should shut his mouth, if he was using and just because hes caught now wants to tell on everyone else is his problem. Listening is a skill, and I guess you don't have it based on some of the things I've read.

Well 2 must wins in a row now.....and if you win both you get Brazil. See you in 2010.

Official Soxtalk 2006 World Cup Thread
Well the U.S. is either going to have to make a miracle comeback to get a draw, or else the next 2 games are probably must wins, or at least must win 1, must tie 1, and pray.

Ozzie Lambasted Over Weekend. Do you Agree??
He deserves every bit of s*** he gets. If you defend the users, you should be lambasted, and I don't give a damn who you are. I normally love Ozzie, but to defend the cheaters is inexcuseable and represents the entire organization in a bad way.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 10:01 AM) Oh man, BEST f***ING GAME of Soccer EVER!!!!! First of all, we deserved to win. Dominated possession all game, and had about 18 shots on goal. Japan threatened occasionally on the counter, but we did fairly well defensively I thought. Japan's goal was a FREAKIN joke. And if we had lost this game 1-0, I tell you there would be hell to pay. Schwarzer our goalie got barrelled into by a Japan striker, and the ref does nothing. You watch corners beforehand, if you touch the goalie it's a free kick. The referee's performance was awful. Didn't control the game well at all. But the turning point was the introduction of Tim Cahill and Josh Kennedy. Kennedy's a huge guy at sriker, and the Japanese defenders hated him in the air. Cahill scores goal reguarly for Everton in the EPL. Fantastic 2nd goal he scored. Oh man, we're going to be partying today Down Under (it's 1a.m here, and I gotta get up for work in 6 hours). 1 am there?? Damn that sucks....go get some sleep and get drunk "tonight" there. Oh and good point about sitting on a 1 goal lead....that's what gives me hope for the U.S. against Italy....Italy loves to do that, and the U.S. athletic ability will cause problems in that senario. But for now....time to beat the Czech's.

CHICAGO RUSH
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 09:40 AM) The Rush's placekicker should seriously be in the NFL. That guy was super accurate. No kidding!! A 52 yarder to end the half into that tiny little space inbetween the uprights a couple stories above the ground....great leg strength and accuracy.

Hello Mr. Anderson
We're going to 2 of the best hitter parks in the league the next 7 days. The BA turnaround began with that 400 plus blast over Grady's glove.

Ozuna
QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 12:08 AM) He's not impressing me too much as a lead-off hitter. He fights his way back from a miserable start, actually gets to .300 for a day, then starts diving again. What happened to the guy who used to bunt for singles and terrorize pitchers and catchers?? I thought he was the key to the Sox fast start last season and I'm surprised they've done so well without his spark this year. He's still getting on base at the same rate as he did last year, has stolen quite a few bases, and the offense as a whole is a lot better. He's actually drawing more walks this year, but he needs to get that average back up to 2005 level, or at least to his career average.

Official NBA Playoffs Thread
The Heat are still a good team, but they just match up so badly with Dallas, they have little chance. Mavs in 5, 6 at the VERY most.

Quest Tec UmpireTechnology
Considering we have the best home record in baseball, and are on pace to be WAY better at home this year than last, I don't consider this to be much of a concern.

Where is the heart???
QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jun 11, 2006 -> 10:32 PM) I standed up and applauded just like the fans who actually stayed there for the WHOLE GAME. They are class acts. Same here on both counts. As proud as I was of the players, I was almost as much proud of the fans. A lot of them were still there considering the circumstances, and the move to give the standing O even after a loss in appreciation of the rally and effort was great to see. Agreed.

I left the game early tonight.
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 11, 2006 -> 10:33 PM) I cannot imagine ever leaving a game early. Neither can I, but if there ever was on, this was it. A cool, damp night....a Sunday night, down by 8, 9th inning.....I can't blame the guy TOO much.

GAME THREAD 6-11-06 SOX vs INDIANS
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jun 11, 2006 -> 10:04 PM) Not gonna happen. Talking about the tying run potentially coming to the plate. Well hey, you got 1 out of 2, not bad.

Where is the heart???
There it was again tonight!! Sure we lost, but we nearly made the greatest rally in the history of ever. First time I've ever really smiled after a loss, what a great effort by us, with several of the key guys being bench players. I have a feeling a run of very good play may have began tonight in the 9th, even in defeat. Way to go guys, the heart, the guts, the balls, the 2005 fever is back. I haven't felt better about this team all year than I do right now.

GAME THREAD 6-11-06 SOX vs INDIANS
I admit the only reason I kept it on was I wanted to see Tracey and Montero......and then I just left on the bottom of the 9th to be safe. Wow lol.

2005 fever is back, that was the first "not bad loss" I think I've ever seen us have.
