  1. Let's finish off the sweep this time boys, and get to 6-6 vs. the Toons. GO SOX!
  2. I was there in the 3rd row, and saw nothing from Martinez other than the joy you'd expect from a guy that hit a huge home run in the 11th. I think the reason we came back is this team is finally growing some balls and showing some huge heart, nothing to do with V Mart.
  3. Honestly, I'd LOVE to see it....but people, there is no f***ing way the Phillies give him back unless we mega overpay, which I have no interest in doing.
  4. Why would he get a bump in ratings? He's still a bad president and it took WAY too long to catch this guy, a guy by all accounts who was losing power and was sold out by his own "allies".
  5. Dude can't play the outfield. Note to fans: Your not going to be a good outfielder just because your fast. Pods is fast, but he's not a good outfielder, and Ozuna is faster but a worse outfielder. Like Rowand says, if Pablo is getting a shot everyday it will be at shortstop, and I wouldn't mind seeing that too much right now. I mean, Pablo is a very good hitter and uses every ounce of talent he has to his advantage as it is, but he's REALLY swinging that magic wand right now, he's just like the master of it between the bloops and bunts and gappers and such.
  6. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 03:07 PM) As a sidenote, the NFL does not currently test for HGH, and the NFLPA is trying to keep it that way. Since the Olympics in Athens (the ancient ones, not modern) athletes have been caught using illegal substances. Cheating in this fashion is thousands of years old, but really came into the spotlight because of the East German team. At that point the East German team said that no matter what officials did to prevent doping (another term for illegal substances) the dopers would always be a few years ahead of them. No drug policy will ever be able to catch the drugs that they dont know about. And that is the biggest problem, the drug designers are right now have the new more advanced drugs. The MLB, NFL, etc policies wont even know about them for a few years. Agreed on all counts, that's exactly right. And the NFL is an interesting point.....they have all kinds of guys on HGH I'm sure (probably more than baseball), but nobody even says s*** about it. Not sure why things work that way.
  7. They are going to get Bonds. The Feds will get you if they want to this badly (hell, they got Capone) and I really think Bonds did commit perjury, even if it was nothing but smaller technicalities in what he said.
  8. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 09:48 PM) He probably for what ever reason feels the Sox will seek vengence, of course he's completely wrong. Vengence would lead to suspensions for us, so it's stupid....and if we were looking for blood, it would have happened on that Sunday game.
  9. I played CF through 8th grade. I simply wasn't good enough once I got to high school to keep going . Actually, to describe how I was: Brian Anderson right now. I had very good speed and athletic ability and was very good in center, but damn I just could not hit. I had pretty good power and drew walks, but I struck out sooooooooo much and hit a ton of pops up and s***, although I wasn't swinging for the fences or anything, just couldn't hit pitches coming in that fast.
  10. The last 2 games have shown why Cleveland doesn't scare me. They are one of those teams that just seems to find ways to lose, they are freaking 29-32, and their bullpen is AWFUL, I mean even way worse than ours is, which says something.
  11. Where is the heart?? Well we seem to FINALLY have seen some the last 5 games. Have the Sox played well the last 5 games? Hell no, as a matter of fact we've played like complete s*** for the most part. But who cares, we've managed to go 4-1 and win 2 series against a couple of tough division rivals in Detroit and Cleveland. All 4 wins saw us win the game on late hits, with all kinds of heroes: Cintron, Dye, Ozuna, Mackowiak, Buehrle.....clutch hitting, some big outs from the pitchers, a little luck, not being afraid late in games, not giving up when something bad happens as a team, figuring out ways to win. The last 5 games from this team are the first time really all year where you can see some heart, see some balls, see some care. To go 4-1 in these games, considering how they have went and how we've played.....it's been almost all heart. So I must say I found my answer to the question that started this thread, and even though stretches like the last 5 games might put me into a f***ing crazy house......at least I see the heart and care and emotion there right now.
  12. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 12:36 PM) Wow, they compare Turner to Shaun Livingston. They have almost identical size and skill sets (strengths and weaknesses)......but Turner isn't as good as SL, he's unreal.
  13. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 06:33 PM) How many more wins does he need to become the winningest pitcher post steroid suspension? Screw steroid boy Montero. There are at least a couple others on our team that have used roids, but weren't caught. Does it make them better they weren't caught? That's an ignorant comment by you, so congrats!! Anyways, complete vulture style win for Montero, 3 pitches and 1 out, but congrats anyways. I like you better than Polittle, by a lot, already.
  14. I was there in the 3rd row down the RF line, what a great game and emotional roller coaster. Great win, oh and I found out before the game that Wickman is a total asshole, so to beat that ugly fatass b**** like that makes it even sweeter. Let's finish off the sweep this time guys.
  15. This isn't even close, Jack Youngblood in a landslide. Played 14 years for the Rams at the brutal d end spot, missing only 1 game total, playing in a team record 201 straight games, and making 5 pro bowls. But most impressive, the dude played the entire 1979/1980 playoffs (leading the Rams to the Super Bowl) on a broken leg. If that's not tough I don't know what is.
  16. Heath gets it done again, 7-2 with a 1.89 now *yawn*. Damn I can't wait to see him up with the big club eventually.
  17. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 01:35 AM) The only things keeping me from saying it's an easy decision are the monster drop off in defensive ability and Cabrera's s*** work ethic/attitude. Otherwise it's pretty damn easy. I don't worry about his attitude with Ozzie around, Oz could get Charles Manson to behave in his clubhouse. The defensive dropoff would be an issue though, but Cabrera's hitting would make up for the runs his defense might give up, easily. I mean, the dude in our park would be .325/40/100, and as much as I love Joe, his offense and defense combined can't overcome that in terms of value (especially since Miggy at 3rd isn't all that bad, his issue is when he was in the OF).
  18. QUOTE(beautox @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 11:27 PM) ::Patterson Update:: 1-4(2B), 2RBI, BB, 2CS, 1PO, Currently batting .291, It seems batting in 6spot might be working for him, time will tell. Well people with a brain (Steve Stone comes to mind) have been saying since he came up in '01 that Patterson was a 6 hitter type. Too bad for the Flubs they didn't listen.
  19. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 07:43 PM) No, they're not. Mormons are Christians. Wrong. Just go to their website and the FAQ section, where the arrogant bastards literally say they aren't Christians because "they know things about Jesus that Christians don't, and thus have different beliefs". :rolly
  20. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 07:53 PM) Man, I know he's a Sox fan, but Mark Mulder is killing my fantasy team, What the f*** is his problem? He got off to that really good start, but I think he might be hurt. He was overworked in a start a few starts ago at San Francisco, throwing 123 high stress pitches in only 6 innings in a loss to the Giants, and since then has been just blasted by the Cubs and Brewers, 2 squads that couldn't beat a girls softball team right now. I don't think it's a coincidence that he's been so bad since that Giants start, and I think in that Giants game he got hurt, because I've watched some of his last 2 starts and his location and pitch velocities are seriously messed up. Cards did bail him out and come back to win this one though.
  21. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 01:03 AM) Why not Zumaya? Does Leyland not have faith in putting the youngster out as a closer. All he's got to do is look at what the defending world champs did with a rookie closer. Zumaya has the stuff and potential, so why not run him out there (unless he is thinking about moving Zumaya into the rotation in place of Maroth; assuming Colon or whoever replaces him continues to struggle). For every Bobby Jenks, there are 5 LaTroy Hawkins (he looked just as good as Zumaya in his setup days with Minny IMO, had great stuff too).....I think that might be Leyland's mindset here. However Jones is simply washed up, and Zumaya is his best option BY FAR, so he might as well take a shot. But closing is so much different than even being the setup guy, so you never know how a guy reacts. But it's pretty clear now that they gotta get Jones outta that role, and Rodney all of a sudden is not looking so hot either.
  22. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 12:24 AM) It's such a tough decision, Crede is so f***ing great defensively (no matter what some believe) that it'd be tough to lose a glove like his but adding another 1.000 OPS to the lineup would make this one of the greatest batting orders in the history of baseball. yes, yes I would As much as I love Joe....it's really not a tough decision. Look at this effin lineup if you make that deal: Pods Gooch Thome Konerko Dye Cabrera Pierzynski Uribe/Cintron Anderson *dies*
  23. I don't mind WCIU right now since they are the only damned station with what seems to be an accurate radar gun for pitch speeds....
  24. QUOTE(greg775 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 09:20 PM) I mean Uribe make the play. But our starter didn't go long enough tonight Your a f***ing idiot, Juan just lost us the game. Don't blame Javy.
  25. f*** you Juan, send his ass to triple a. Game over, we lose again.
