Not complaining to complain. I'd like to see the bullpen protect that 1 run lead for 9 outs. I think they'd have done it but if we want to rely on convention so be it.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 24, 2010 -> 04:52 PM) And Garcia gets out of it. See? Hah. Lead intact? I have really high standards in the bedroom as well.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 24, 2010 -> 04:46 PM) Bah, you're nuts if you think you'd have taken Garcia out if you were in Ozzie's spot. Lots of 5th starters are treated with kid gloves.

Whoops Ozzie. Whoops.

Time for Ozzie to strike down sense of loyalty just once. Bring on the pen.

What can Jenks get us
QUOTE (WCSox @ Apr 24, 2010 -> 03:50 PM) Jenks would likely net us a mediocre prospect at best. The real motivation to moving him at the deadline would be to save a couple million dollars. That said, if we're out of contention, moving him at the deadline makes sense. Because trading his rights this winter will net us zilch. Nobody's going to give up something to pay a declining closer $8.5M+ next year. Unfortunately we can only get a Brandon Allen type player, I would say. I remember KW complaining a few years ago (at a trade deadline) about the astronomical price for relief arms.

we cant say "shouldve been caught" on anything where a guy is already in a full climb of the fence.

Poor jump by Rios but he's in there. Teahen moves him to third on a single and Cox for once holds someone up.

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Apr 24, 2010 -> 03:47 PM) I do enjoy the "Man Kotsay is killin it in ST, he's gonna be AWESOME!" and then the "ST doesn't mean anything, Teahen will be fine" Well to be fair, the people who liked Kotsay in a platoon (I'm of this group) were liking his (recent)career stats against righties, looking at the roster, looking at the righthandedness of the roster, and looking at a very mysterious bag of goods from Andruw Jones. Very glad here to find that bag of goods is gigantic and amazing.

Teahen and Kotsay. Proof ST means nothing.

QUOTE (Dizzy Sox @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 10:14 PM) Whooo-hoooooo! Ironic that what had in the pre-season looked like one of our weakest links is doing great and the rest of the team has stunk. If only the rest of team could play up to their abilities... 'irony' is when the firehouse burns down, not that.

Cowley jousted verbally
The Score 670 says they'll be playing the audio soon Supposedly it gets very testy. It's about whether or not Toronto should have baseball.

debunking assumptions
Everyone expects the team hitting stats to look way better at the end of the year. But that's totally immaterial if we fall too far behind here in the early going. It can very easily be out of our grasp sooner rather than later if Minny keeps doing what they're doing.
-
debunking assumptions
Everyone seemed to indicate (all offseason) that the season's success or failure would rest on what kind of year Rios would have It's entirely plausible that Rios can hit the ball hard all year and we'll still be bad in any number of other spots in the lineup.

4/13 GT: Sox @ Blue Jays, Floyd v. Romero
QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 08:25 PM) Getting Gonzalez would make AJP and Ramirez remember how to hit? We had some clunkers in the lineup in '05. You can be fine with a strong core group and the rest of the weak-statted guys at the very least coming up big in a handful of spots throughout the year.

If we have to lose I would like to be no-hit. Send a message to KW, all that good stuff, etc.

QUOTE (beckham15 @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 06:58 PM) you should have realized that last year when he kept throwing dwise out there Well that's about when I realized it. Last year was my first about face on Ozzie since he's been here.

Why is Omar being given all these at-bats tonight. Ozzie doesnt understand the value of an out.

Lets discuss DH platooning
It kind of surprised me that in the game thread everyone seemed to be reading today's game as a reason to play Jones everyday at DH. Isn't it much the opposite? Each guy got it done against the kind of pitcher they're supposed to get it done against, under Ozzie's plan. Right now I'm happy with Jones starting vs. lefties and maybe select righties. In wanting this, I'm looking at his last few years of production. For Jones to accomplish what everyone wants against righties, he'd have to turn it back to 2006. I hope it happens but I am all for having them share it til he further proves he's a revamped player.

4/12 GT: Sox @ Blue Jays, Peavy vs. Tallet
What ex-Sox have been booed at US Cellular? When there are legitimate gripes, like with Maggs, that's one thing.........but I cant remember us doing it for a reason so flimsy as Toronto has with Rios (unfulfilled stardom promise + the fan incident)

Smashed but fly out to Rios
