  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 3, 2010 -> 05:39 PM) What does it say? Twitter, Fecebook, Myspace, youtube, hulu.com, etc. are blocked in CHINA by the "GREAT FIREWALL." Kenny is giving the team a month. Whether this means a month til wild salary dumping, that is unclear. Maybe we'll see if AJ's developed trade value through multiple years of (fairly) incident free play and high OBP for a catcher.
  2. Maybe. I dunno. http://twitter.com/Cst_Sox One month
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 2, 2010 -> 11:18 AM) You do know the "blogger" he was insulting is the same guy who owns this site? I vaguely knew there was some kind of connection between that guy and this place. But it doesnt do anything to change the fact that the Angels/Konerko part of that whole thing didn't make sense.
  4. QUOTE (Disco72 @ May 2, 2010 -> 10:45 AM) This is turning into another "Cowley" thread, but he bashed the "rumor" that the Sox and Padres talked names and possibly included the Angels in the mix, and now he reports that the Sox and Padres "talked names." He's reporting the exact same thing he bashed (very unintelligently and unprofessionally) in the offseason. There's really no defending Cowley here. I dont think it was ever about the facts even back then. He never said that what the blogger indicated was a lie. He simply said (correctly) that the Konerko thing was a longshot (and it didnt happen). And then he made fun of the blogger. That part is open for us to judge, yes. But basically that whole episode was more just him making fun of someone who did a report online. I dont think it was Cowley saying a trade for Adrian Gonzalez could never happen. A trade for anyone can happen down the line. Everyone knows this.
  5. It was poor form from Cowley attacking that blogger. But from his perspective, his field is kind of disappearing in the face of a lot of people providing aspects of his livelihood for free. I can at least see why he'd have an axe to grind. Plenty of other writers are a lot more classy about it. I think Sam Smith was pretty outspoken against blogging's role in today's landscape----- then he was let go by his paper and has now, in a sense, become a blogger.
  6. If we ever have to move Teahan to LF down the line, I wonder if we can get by like that. Sure, that's a weak bat to have in LF, but depending on the roster it might be passable. Between him and Rios, respectively at LF and CF, we could be getting some 37 HR yearly combined from those two positions. Maybe. I suppose his versatility is a reason for the contract. And our extreme need for LH bats
  7. And you dont need CQ to find his old days if you have a Marte finding ....his
  8. OK so everyone who stopped being a Sox fan just then now has to switch back....
  9. Swisher's teammates were barely congratulating him while he was faux-headbutting and what not. They must be so sick of him.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ May 1, 2010 -> 02:38 PM) I really wish we had a second lefty in the bullpen we could trust. I'm still working on 'second righty'
  11. o my best pal made out with a Sergio Mitre ex
  12. I still like working him in there against righties a fair share. I know what the #s say, but this lineup flat out needs a lefty. A non-Pierre one.
  13. Talking about people when they're bad is cheering the team on. We are keeping their business afloat by buying tickets, jerseys, and indirectly just by being on this board giving them our attention. Our addiction to the team (and our addiction to yelling about how bad they can be) is something the White Sox people would privately tell you they thrive on. I see a win-win here fella.
  14. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 1, 2010 -> 12:40 PM) Well, when all of you, in unison, repeat the same negative crap over and over and over again, I mean seriously, why do you all do this to yourselves? You guys are calling for negative things to happen before they even happen. What is pain to you may not be pain in others. I am very happy to complain. Not just in baseball either.
  15. I like this. KW take a long hard look at what you put together and completely change the team's philosophy. Redefine what a leadoff hitter has to be. There's nothing wrong with him just being a good hitter. Take a long hard look at what AJ brings and see if you can afford that lack of throwing arm anymore. I've always been an Ozzie fan but it may be time to have him out if he cant adapt with the changing landscape, the realities of the new parks, etc.
  16. Just flipping around to this, but shouldn't part of the point of Sports Entertainment (as opposed to sports) be that we don't have to hear the word "draft pick" ?
  17. Is it better for us if SD decides to trade Adrian Gonzalez soon? or later in the year? I would think later. If SD keeps winning that allows (1) Boston to have to turn elsewhere before their season goes to pot (2) allows Jared Mitchell perhaps to get healthy by the very end of the year and prove his value to teams once again (3) allows another Sox prospect to potentially step up his value and get into the trade conversation(Morel?)
  18. Pointless to discuss right now, but had we won the Johnny Damon sweepstakes... we'd have this weird situation where Andruw Jones should be playing everyday and Juan Pierre should be sitting in favor of Damon. Or maybe not. I dont know. But still I'll post.
  19. Right now our offense is led by the biggest question marks. Rios, Jones and Teahen. Decent career offensive players AJ and Pierre not coming through. X-factors CQ and Becks not coming through.
  20. I dont swear a ton these days but I just yelled YES MF like 90 times
  21. Hypothesis: Bobby bad in non-save situations because he has fed off of guys overswinging (while they're team's down) for years Is this thing already proven? Not to say closing is easy, but Jenks sure seems to benefit from nervous hitters year after year.
