  1. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 09:39 PM) Reading Northsidebaseball is priceless right now. who's the green jacket guy theyre referencing
  2. Great to see Buehrle do this against a team that characteristically hits lefties
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 08:23 PM) Mildred is the name of Ramirez's wife? I would have never guessed that. Catholic name so you can see it for hispanics. there was a st. mildred
  4. Why did someone call him Blond Communism earlier in the thread? is there a reference there i should know about?
  5. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 07:14 PM) Alexei should really win the AL Gold Glove for 2b, IMO. There is no better. Ozzie when stalling before giving Alexei the full time job "Playing 2b in Cuba is nothing compared to MLB" My response to that: No. Balls can be hit hard anywhere, not just U.S. Ridiculous how little legwork he did on this. Alexei shouldve had earlier opportunities to prove himself.
  6. Let me be careful how I phrase this. If we had bigtime success this year, I feel it could potentially be more fun than 2005. A big case in point is the dugout celebrations we see. It seems like there is a lot of chemistry here, and while I know that always depends on W/L records.... it seems like the guys here have more fun than 2005's. Stooges
  7. Whoops, I thought I HADNT put on the Josh Hamilton Hour. was expecting a cubs sox game.
  8. thats about the only moment both cubs fans and sox fans would cheer
  9. the expectations for Jose have taken such a roller coaster route. we're back at what we thought we'd get. a #4 or #5 guy.
  10. Wow, Edmonds reacted like that was a pop up
  11. I'll always have to hand it to Cotts for saving us from a fate worse than death: 2005 Damaso Marte.
  12. JD excellent this year Lets see what kind of reception Cotts gets
  13. Is Gary Ward still in the organization? Daryle Ward said last week that his dad is still rooting for Sox over Cubs right now.
  14. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jun 27, 2008 -> 03:35 PM) I love how Hawk was just trying to put it on the offense that they didn't "go for the jugular" by putting more than 8 runs up how about gascan contreras doesn't just give up home run after home run did he necessarily mean the offense though?
  15. also, now that it's 8-0 Alexei can stay home with his wife and not rush back midgame as was hinted might happen
  16. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jun 27, 2008 -> 03:16 PM) You guys know that was Nick's dad's name right? Alot of the "old timers" who were around when his dad was a Cub call Nick that occasionally. i'm aware. and yea, my dad calls me by his brother's name all the time.
  17. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 27, 2008 -> 03:12 PM) yea, i caught that too. i was like "huh?" maybe Hawk is entering the Johnny Red Kerr phase a bit here. Red: "You know who Szcerbiak reminds me of as a player?" Tom: "Who?" Red: "..." "Ah... I forgot!"
  18. He seriously just called him Steve Swisher
  19. Swish is trying de-arm socket himself
  20. QUOTE (kane0730 @ Jun 27, 2008 -> 03:03 PM) All WITHOUT a HR!!! very good point. we have been waiting for something like this
  21. Yea, for those not watching, that was not hit well enough on its own to bring in Q.... but they are totally running on Patterson (throw was a little wide and he snuck in)
  22. Jesus, one day Quentin will get a Steinbach-style facer.
