  1. One thing I found interesting that Venable said was about his experience in the draft room and the deadline room. I wonder if Getz targeted him to have some help in those areas. If so, that makes the hire even better.
  2. I don't know why everyone is convinced Kopech is "fixed." He's always been capable of looking great for short stretches.
  3. I misread his stats and was very, very wrong. The shame, the horror.
  4. I thought they played hard all season. They were just terrible. Robert was the only guy who seemed like he didn't give a s%*#.
  5. He said he saw them show energy. He didn't say they were good.
  6. Depends on how permanent his back problems are.
  7. "Half their bullpens." Obviously that's not true and you're being overly emotional because you're into gaining Internet credit. Of all the bad moves the Sox have made, trading middling relievers is the last on the list. There are a ton of reasons to hate the Sox moves, but Kopech and Bummer are so low down on the list that you're not even trying.
  8. Basically, middle relievers are volatile and Kopech has a 7 era in this year's playoffs. Good talk.
  9. On this very page, you have people complaining about risky extensions and trading away players every time they get good. lol
  10. Those extensions are a gamble, but a completely necessary one in this environment.
  11. Yup. The previous team becoming oft injured massive disappointments tanked is for the long run.
  12. Only 3 of those players actually hit free agency. Again, you're the only one who mentioned spending money. That's not what I'm talking about. As I've stated several times.
  13. Haha. This response is really bad. So you're admitting that those players were acquired via trade and equating that to free agency. People complain about the quality of the free agency class every year, and it's because teams don't allow their players to get to FA anymore. Just admit you're wrong and let's move on. Again, nobody ever said to not spend money.
  14. Take a look at the Yankees roster and see how many of their players were acquired via FA. I never said not to spend money. I said the days of just buying a contender are pretty much over.
  15. Considering Venable has turned down multiple jobs in the past, I would imagine he wouldn't accept this one if he didn't have considerable autonomy.
  16. This isn't the way baseball works anymore. Teams don't let their players get to FA. You can't just buy a team, and it hasn't been like that for a while. Every year people complain about the FA class for a reason.
  17. Aren't we done hiring old drunk guys?
  18. That's not how this works in America. In America, one has to prove an accusation, not the other way around. Had MLB disciplined Clevinger, I'd be right there behind you, but they never did, because he didn't actually do the things he was accused of. Thankfully I live in a world where the pointy hats aren't able to just hang people at will. I live in a world where people are afforded the right to defend themselves. Maybe you guys will get your chance if Project 2025 comes to fruition.
  19. Reality is that Clevinger has never been convicted of a crime and MLB has found no evidence to back any accusations. As such, he's faced no jail time or bans.
  20. Yet Bauer has never faced a conviction and won every civil suit. Clevinger has also never been charged or convicted of a crime. The facts simply don't favor you guys.
  21. Testimony is evidence? Good luck with that. There's a reason Clevinger is still eligible to pitch, and it sure as hell isn't because he's so good that he's protected. I'm sorry, but you guys are just wrong here. MLB banned Bauer, who was way better and had a way higher profile, yet they're protecting Mike fucking Clevinger? Gmab.
  22. In that case, you should focus on Omar Vizquel and Getz support of him.
  23. MLB is full of selfish and shitty humans. Part of being a professional athlete is an exhibition of narcissistic and psychopathic attributes. This is well known, established and celebrated. Aaron Rodgers is a sociopath. Joe Montana is a sociopath. That doesn't make them criminals. There's literally no evidence of Mike Clevinger being an abuser other than accusations of an ex. By that metric, most exes are abusers according to family court.
  24. Agreed that it wasn't a court of law, but these are the same evaluators that basically banned a CY Young winner for life. I don't believe they had any reason to protect Mike Clevinger - the king of mediocrity.
